Hi, I'm Cassie Wanda, in 2013 I founded Glimmerwood, a fantasy costume and bridal brand. Since then, I have created custom fantasy garments from wedding gowns for Sanrio's Hello Kitty Con to cosplay outfits for a wonderful variety of people. Throughout the years I have cultivated an audience that is made up of people who want to own my hand sewn designs and creators who use me as inspiration. Earlier this year, I wanted to show my appreciation for the designers that also inspire me and I launched a ready to wear line inspired by the art of sewing itself. I'd love to take this line to the next level with enamel pins. I think they are a fun addition to bags and jackets, an easy gift, and would be a great new product for my etsy store.
I would like to open with four cute designs from my Love Sewing collection. The illustrations by KatiDoodlesMuch will translate into SUCH cute pins! I plan on getting the seam ripper, rotary cutter, spool of thread, and mannequin as 1" enamel pins with black plating, rubber clutches, and some sparkles!! All the pink details will be glittery. Rewards for pledges are kept pretty simple, you receive a thank you note, and if you choose - pin(s) from the collection. If these pins are a hit, I can produce many more in the coming months. As always, I have dozens ideas just waiting to be brought to life! Thank you for your time - and hopefully - your pledges!
I plan on producing the seam ripper (1.25"), mannequin (1.5"), rotary cutter (1.25"), and spool of thread (1"), as hard enamel pins with black plating, rubber clutches, and of course... sparkles!! All those pink hearts are going to be glittery.
$1200: (UNLOCKED) Sewing Machine joins the party as a 1" Pin (No Glitter)
$1500: Pincushion struts into the collection as a 1.25" pin with to be announced glitter accents
$1800: Every backer gets an extra gift! (To be announced later!)
I'm keeping things pretty simple, I've added the price the initial order of pins, packaging, Kickstarter fees, and shipping costs for 40 orders (the special early bird tiers) rounded up a tiny bit and made that my goal. Additional orders will be able to be filled from the initial order of pins. I also have a quote for a higher quantity of pins if I get more orders than the initial order can handle.
- March: Kickstarter campaign
- Late March: Backer surveys
- April: Pin production
- May: I receive the pins and begin fulfilling orders
- June: Pledges are delivered!
Risks and challenges
With the Kickstarter format, backers will not be charged until the project is successfully funded, so there is no risk to you to pledge!
I have found a pin manufacturer highly recommended by my peer creators and have had excellent communication with them so far. However, as it is with working with any new vendor, I can hope all goes well, but have prepared for a few bumps along the way, which is why I extended my deadline past when the pins should be shipped to me and have researched a couple back up manufacturers. This gives me about a month and a half to handle any unexpected things - like delays in shipment or defective or low grade pins - that come up.
Worst case, I have to reorder or use a different manufacturer, best case, rewards go out early!
This is my first time producing pins, but I have wonderful people helping me through the process. I also have a 5 star average rating on the etsy shop I've owned for 11 years.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
