Bring to life a Colorful, Objective Based 4 Player Co-Op Sci-Fi FPS, with Unique Gameplay.
About this project
We want to do something Great!
We have imagined a Co-Op First Person Shooter that will break the mold, full of fun, energy and variety in gameplay.
Having worked on a number of FPS games, we want to create an FPS that will be different and enjoyable on each play-through.
Imagine an FPS inspired from the Sci-Fi Shooters and films we all loved. Aliens wrecking havoc on space stations and worlds deserted after massive alien invasions.
Immersion
Imagine a First Person Shooter in which each reload can be felt and each hit has impact. We are going to spend countless hours creating animation, sound-fx and particle fx in order to make everything feel grounded.
We are also spending time with AI in order to create enemy behaviour and activities that will make this exotic universe feel real.
Meaningful Gameplay
Now imagine a game in which mission objectives are meaningful, a game in which tearing through enemies in order to get from A to B isn’t your main and only goal. With INSECTION we are doing that.
Killing wave after wave of enemies and reaching the checkpoint might be fun the first few times, but it becomes repetitive after a while. We need to change that.
A fun co-op game in which team work counts, since objectives are goal oriented and team based, a game in which players have to work together to get through the level.
From protecting convoys full of civilians, to launching satellites and placing beacons, to setting up defences enabling power grids and eventually taking down the hive your missions have an objective, you aren’t just surviving, you are achieving.
Colorful and Vibrant
The days of the Grey/Brown shades of modern shooters are gone, as well as the limited palettes. With INSECTION we want to explore a vibrant Universe, with lush environments and exotic aliens.
Earth isn’t just grey and brown or shades of blue or even black and gold, it has countless colors and countless species, so we think an alien world would also have the same variation.
One of the main goals of INSECTION is to make a vibrant colorful world that you will want to revisit.
New and Unique Gameplay
With INSECTION we feel that beyond making sure we are enhancing the co-op experience in general we also have to add something new and something we have all been waiting for, a new gameplay mode which we call “Competitive mode”.
Two teams going after the same mission objective, and only one team can reach it, both teams have access to the same resources and both have the same objectives, but we also have: the bugz.
Suddenly a whole strategy aspect emerges and team coordination is of paramount importance. Are you going to try and pick off the other team as soon as possible or are you going to work with them up to a certain point? It’s your choice.

Story
It’s not all about gameplay though, we do have a story to tell.
INSECTION is inspired by classic sci-fi films, novels and shooters so we have created a story of bravery, crazy escapades and odd defying feats that allows our gameplay to unfold naturally.
In the game you play as one out of 4 ex-marines trying to survive in the Universe. You can play as Dylan or Derek - marines to the bone - or even as a delightful Robot with Dante or a killer female cyborg pilot with Dona. Each character has a unique past and a story that ties them together.
This also ties in with another aspect of gameplay: Augmentations. Each character has access to a unique set of augmentations that allow players to change how they play the game.
Languages
We believe that in order to offer a unique gameplay experience and deeper immersion, we should support full voice acting in as many languages as possible. So in our first milestone on this matter, INSECTION will support full voice acting in:
- English
- Chinese
- German
- Greek
- And Russian
And we’re planning to expand the variety of languages supported after launch.
The Game Engine
One of the most important pieces of the puzzle that makes INSECTION unique is the game engine: Unity.
Our team has used Unity in many projects, we know the engine inside-out and in INSECTION, we are using every feature and capabilities Unity offers. Unity is a unique, beautiful engine and we’re more than glad we’re using it to develop INSECTION.
Industry is changing
We believe the Games Industry is changing and that all of us are part of this change. Now it’s possible to create games with character, personality and a different take on things, not only focused on selling to the largest market, but focus on the gameplay experience.
We want to keep our character
We don’t want INSECTION to become another run-of-the-mill shooter, we want to keep its character, personality and vibrant visuals intact. We have created something we believe will change how we view FPS games.
We’ve been designing INSECTION for over a year and we have been developing the actual game for just over two months. What you see is still work in progress and even though it might seem like much, the full game is far from finished.
The Goal
Your support is the most important thing in this step, it is the only way to create INSECTION and keep its soul intact. All of the Kickstarter funds will be poured into development and for that reason we have also designed stretch goals, such as Oculus Rift support, a new mission and something wonderful that willenhance an already amazing gameplay experience!
What we need to develop
INSECTION’s story is played through 4 missions, each consisting of 5 areas. We have created half a mission, the main characters, some of the initial weapons and a variety of alien insects.
That is quite a feat for a project that is in development for 2 months, but we still have a lot to do. For starters we have to create the rest of the missions and their areas. Then we have designed a dozen enemy types and a dozen weapon types, each requiring their animations, sound FX, code and testing.
We also have to consider voice overs, hardware and software requirements and most importantly the people. In order to achieve all this within a reasonable timeframe we need to double in size as a team.
We want to make your support easier for you, so we have designed some amazing rewards. We respect your support, so the rewards have been designed to make creating INSECTION possible, but also offer you something unique in return for giving us this unique chance to bring INSECTION to life.
We created two basic categories, the first offers INSECTION in a set of 1 or 4 licenses and the other is Limited with some really cool extras. Each Backer getting INSECTION through Kickstarter, will get an in-game pet which will follow him around and make him stand out.
Risks and challenges
As we all know developing a game is a complex task that requires experience and technical know-how. At Glasswing Studio we are utilizing all the experience we have collected working for larger studios in order to create INSECTION. Below we detail some of the challenges and how we aim to overcome them.
● Not Reaching our Goal
For INSECTION we decided to reach out the real Publishers in the Industry, you. We need your help to make INSECTION a reality. If we don’t reach our goal, we won’t be able to continue developing INSECTION and you won’t have a chance to visit the INSECTION universe.
● Delayed Release
One of the most important challenges for a game project is to launch on the intended date. At Glasswing we have planned each section and we have listed each item required, we have also developed 15% of the game which we finished earlier than expected. With this data we are in a position to calculate exactly how much time each section will need and have an accurate Launch Date.
With the knowledge mentioned above we can say that we know exactly when you should expect INSECTION. April 2014.
● Kickstarter Funds not being enough
We started INSECTION by designing every section and requirement. When we decided to ask for your help we knew it was a move that demands respect towards your trust and accuracy in the allocation of resources.
Before we set our goal we made sure each process was accounted for, how much time it will need and how much it will cost in man-hours. Even elements that need to be outsourced have been calculated based on detailed offers we have received.
Also in order to eliminate every possibility of funds running out, we have developed a number of revenue streams that will kick in during the development of INSECTION. This means that if something unforeseen or new needs to be added we will have it covered.
● What we promise not being possible
Everything we promise including Features, Modes and the entire Gameplay Experience has been meticulously designed and we are using existing technology in a smart and effective way.
