We know that look. You think you’ve seen it all before. Community
theater – been there, done that, got the preachy entertainment.
For your consideration … we’re something different.
We’re the Giving Tree Theater– by, of, for the community. We believe
in the power of great stories to inform and shape live; that you can
think just as hard with belly laughs as frowns. We understand you can
spot the difference between dull and dynamite entertainment miles away.
So we give and give and give to get you the utmost for your family’s
order to provide a premier showcase for our area’s talented artists, we need
your help. We want to inaugurate new talents into our thriving group of
performers and technical artists. We want to cure cancer and solve world hunger
with the power of potently produced performances – seriously. And all
that begins with your support.
that means making a donation that meets your comfort level to our Kickstarter
campaign. You’ll notice that our Kickstarter page has a number of pledge
packages that will insure you’re getting a return on your investment that
exceeds the value of merely purchasing tickets. In order to produce high
quality entertainment for our community, we’re aiming for a nigh five figure
goal so that we can compensate our technical crew, purchase production
materials and pay royalties on the shows we think best match the interests of
our audience. This might sound like a daunting figure but it may interest you
to know that all our actors and many of our technical crew are volunteering
their time and talents to make this experience affordable for you and your
family. Even if you live outside of the Edmond area, all we’re asking is that
you reward their service with your contributions so that, together, we can
elevate the theater arts in our community.
This season Giving Tree is going to give you two shows for
your whole family to enjoy. Starting June 22nd, we’ll premiere A
Bear Called Paddington, adapted from the popular children’s book series by
Paddington is one part comedy, one part
children’s fantasy where a family adopts a talking Bear they find in a train
station. More well-known in the United Kingdom, the family names their newfound
member after the train station where they find him. Paddington Bear was recently voted the most
popular animated character of all time in Great Britain and The Giving Tree
Theater is pleased to bring our own spin on this beloved children’s classic to
your family this summer.
After Paddington, The Giving Tree Theater will
offer the international musical hit Forever Plaid, starring KAUT 43’s Two Movie
Guy’s Lucas Ross. Forever Plaid is a musical revue that brings
the light hearted entertainment of 1950’s pop sensations like the Four Aces and
The Freshman to life through a series of comedy sketches and four part harmony
performances. Forever Plaid premieres August 20th
and, like Paddington, will run for two weekends. We hope you’ll check out our
website for specific times and dates so you can make your plans to attend
before tickets become scarce.
