Bring out yer Dead will rise from the grave!
We will re-launch! If you want to know when that is happening, you have options!
The head of your family has died...the extremely rich and influential head of your family. It is finally your time to shine and take up your place at the head of the table - but the will says different. Your name is last on the list!
Now it's time to beg, borrow, steal (and whatever else) in order to gain all the influence and riches you desire.
Bring out yer Dead is a board game for 2-5 players designed by Aaron Watts, in which you play cards each round to “bid” for the order you place bodies on the Gravedigger's cart.
Each day, the Gravedigger brings his cart around the city to be loaded up with the day's dearly departed. Compete with other families in town to ensure your family's final resting places are the most prominent in the city's newest cemetery.
Watch out though! The Gravedigger is notoriously lazy. If there are too many bodies in his cart, he will just toss the extras aside in the river.
And the cemetery is filling up fast! You may need to resort to other nefarious deeds to earn points, like grave robbing and grave swapping!
Try a 2-player print 'n play version. Click here.
- First player reveals a Cart card and determines which path the Gravedigger will take (East or West side of the river)
- Each player bids using three (3) cards from his hand to determine what order bodies will be placed on the cart
- All players reveal their bids simultaneously and bids are resolved in reverse numerical order (highest number to lowest number)
- Players place coffins in grave plots in the same order they were placed on the cart (on the pre-determined side of the river)
- Any bodies that didn't fit on the cart are placed in the river, in the order they "fell off"
- Pass First Player Token to next player and begin a new round

The Gamers Remorse (The Dice Tower Network)
"It seems like most games you can kind of master by playing the same way every time, which I don't particularly enjoy and this game did a great job of solving that by poly-mechanics - for lack of a better word - layering all these different mechanics on top of each other. Very unique, very interesting." -Sean, The Gamer's Remorse/The Dice Tower Network

Bower's Game Corner
“I really, really enjoyed this game. I got the game in the mail and thought ooh I hope this rule booklet is good. And let me assure you, this is an absolutely fantastic rule booklet... What else do I like about this game? I like the artwork a lot. I like the tongue-in-cheek nature with the ghouls and what-not, I like that quite a bit. The board is absolutely gorgeous, not in a beautiful artwork sort of a sense, but in a graphic design sense.”

“It's very easy to learn, very easy to play. Fun game, fun premise.”-Jane, Table for Two Show

"I do enjoy the mechanics in the game. Having the set of player cards that you always have at your disposal is interesting. You always know at least some of what your opponents have in their hand and can make some guessess on what they might play this turn. The Fate cards add necessary game altering events during the game to occur and I like the powers that they possess. In contrast, the treasure cards add those extra victory points that can turn the game in your favor." -Tyler, Board Game Quest

The answer is simple. Ginger Ale Games is a small start-up company run as a co-op with each member having an equal voice and equal reward. It was started as a means for gamers to make games on their own, as their own. We hope to focus on publishing light-hearted, slightly dark-themed games that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
We here at Ginger Ale Games have put a lot of work into Bring out yer Dead: from years of play-testing, to game development, graphic design, art and so much more. But we have gotten it as far as we can on our own. Now we need you, our supporters, to help us take it the rest of the way.
The $300 pledge level is pretty special, which is why we decided to talk about it. Not only will you receive a signed copy of Bring out yer Dead AND your name on the game board, you will receive the hand-crafted deluxe wooden coffin game case! This case is hugely awesome!
- made out of 1/4" baltic birch
- compartment inside for game parts

Add-on #3: CARD SLEEVES $5
We will be using a 61x112mm linen finish card in the game. We think this is a FANTASTIC card size, especially for BOYD. However, it is not widely used and only Mayday Games makes this size sleeve. If you would like for us to send you a pack of sleeves, adjust your pledge by $5.
We a have few extras up our sleeves for you... Let's talk stretch goals!
$40,000 - Bring out yer Dead! - A Collection of Short Stories
We'll partner with our friends over at Silence at the Library to publish a collection of short stories set in the world of Bring out yer Dead.
Each backer will receive a FREE Digital download of the book and we'll open a new backer level where you can order a physical copy of the book (you know, made out of paper and everything!)
$45,000 - Free exclusive Kickstarter coffin key chain
Max will design, and make, exclusive Kickstarter coffin keychains just for backers!
$50,000 - Art Prints!!!
We'll send you two (2) prints of the art from the game hand picked by the artists of Bring out yer Dead, Kendra Stout & Mike Groves.
$55,000 - Free Sleeves
The cards in Bring out yer Dead are 61x112mm. This is not a standard card size (although it is a standard french-tarot size) so well flip the bill to get you sleeves!
$60,000 - Component upgrade- More Art
We have a few cards without art and while this doesn't affect game play or the game experience in any way, we would love to be able to pay Mike and Kendra to add some of their lovely art to those cards!
$70,000 - Sand Timer in every copy!
The wooden hourglass First-Player Token will be replaced with a 30-second sand timer. Replacing the first-player token with a real sand timer allows the first player to to force the other players to play their cards before the timer runs out.
$80,000 - Party at GenCon 2015!!!
That's right! We love throwing a good party! So we're going to throw a party for our backers at next year's GenCon in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Risks and challenges
This is our first game here at Ginger Ale Games. We know a first of anything comes with many unforeseen problems and challenges, but we have the right people on our side.
Our Lead Developer/Graphic Designer, Max Holliday, has over 20 published games under his belt. Max and Mike Groves, our Lead Artist, have worked together on other games which have successfully funded on Kickstarter for other companies. Our marketing gal, Jondi Schmitt-Soper, has worked in and around the board game industry for many years, helping to promote and organize conventions and demos for many companies.
The three of us alone have worked for years in our respected fields to bring products like this to market. Our “mostly fearless” leader, Max, dragged us together in the hopes of starting a new company, with a vision to make games we wanted to play and make them the way we wanted to see them made.
We are a co-op of friends working to simply make fun games for you, your friends and family. Failure is not an option!
We've spent the past two years gathering all the resources to make sure this game has the best possible chance in today's cut-throat board game market! We have sought out, and received, advice from many of the leading publishers in the industry about what to do and what not to do and what works and what doesn't. We have painstakingly planned our budget to make sure we can bring this game to all your homes for $35,000 within the next year - that's 778 supporters at the $45 level. All copies of the game made beyond that will be sold to keep us in ramen and beer...oh! and get us to conventions next year to share our love of games and hopefully meet you and many other new friends.
Because we are just starting out, we don't have distribution into your local stores yet...and may not for a few games. (psst, this is our not-so-subtle hint to get it now, because it may not make it into your store before next Halloween!)
We are small and we don't have a lot of money to bring this dream into a reality. That is where you come in! But we aren't just asking for your money (although we thank you very much for any money you pledge!). We ask that you talk about us and this great game. Help us spread the word about "Bring out yer Dead!” Even if you can't spare any money now, share our story and our game with your friends and become one of ours!
"Kickstarter is about bringing creators to the folks who want their creations," Max said. Here at Ginger Ale Games, our goal is to bring the creations we love to you - our friends and fellow gamers!
We are gamers, first and foremost. We are, and have been, supporters on Kickstarter (look at our KS accounts (https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/jondischmittsoper & this one, of course!).
Because we are gamers and game consumers, we understand the importance of listening to you. This project is almost complete, but we are ALWAYS listening to suggestions and feedback and we will always be striving to make it (and future projects) even better.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
