Gina Chavez is on a quest for her second studio album. She's got the music. She's got the producer. All she needs is YOU!
Hey there, thanks for stopping by!
My name is Gina Chavez and I'm a bilingual singer/songwriter from Austin, Texas. I'm on a quest for my second studio album and I need your help! I've got the songs to move you, the musicians to bring them to life, and an all-powerful producer (with a beautiful new studio in the hills). Now I'm hoping you'll join me on my qrazy quest!
I'm a bit goofy (like Monty Python) and it's been WAY too long since I last recorded a studio album, partly because I spent 8 months volunteering in El Salvador. It was an incredible experience and with your help we've kept the mission going through Austin 4 El Salvador, a college scholarship fund that has given two of the girls I lived with, Xiomara and Marta, full scholarships to a private university in San Salvador! There's MUCH more to that story, but let's get on with the quest...
When I returned to Austin I met producer Michael Ramos (Patty Griffin, The Rembrandts, John Mellancamp, The BoDeans) and he produced my first cumbia, "Miles De Millas," (audio file below). The single landed official showcases at SXSW and the International Folk Alliance and has been featured on National Public Radio's Alt.Latino and All Songs Considered. Needless to say, we knew we needed to embark on a bigger quest together: my second full-length studio album!
So here's the quest: Raise at least $10,000 by November 6 and you'll have some AMAZING music in your headphones. But, if we can raise more than my goal, we can take the music worldwide. That means radio and press, tv and film, official videos and MUCH more.
How Does Kickstarter Work?
- Kickstarter uses Amazon Payments to process pledges.
- Kickstarter is ALL or Nothing. That means, your card will only be charged if we raise at least $10,000 by November 6.
- We can do it!
Where Does Your Money Go?
- $7,000 = recording, studio musicians, mixing and mastering
- $3,000 = album artwork, photography, and replication
Where Would All the EXTRA Monies Go?
- $8,000+ = publicity and radio promotion (U.S., Latin America, Europe)
- $2,000+ = videography and editing for official video releases
You can never have too much for a promotional budget, so I encourage you to tour the page and see which thank-you package (on the right) makes you giddy. Then, grab some coconuts, an outrageous English accent and join me on this quest!

PS: If you're wondering why the coconuts, the English accent and the pretending to ride horses, you should watch the movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail ;)
