Tanks of War (TOW) is a unique and exciting combination of a board game, miniatures game (without the minis) and deck building game. Using new and innovative deck building and combat mechanics, TOW pits the Germans vs. the Soviet Union during the opening salvos of World War 2.

TOW brings the intensity of WW2 tank battles into an easy-to-understand and play format which will delight gamers looking for the enjoyment of fun strategy, explosive turns, and pitch battles without the extensive rules and crazy stats look up found in many other WW2 games.Each decision players make will have an impact and can make the difference between life or death!
Playtime: The flexibility of TOW and its game variants allow players to enjoy quick skirmish battles lasting 30 minutes to larger battles lasting up to 2 hours.You can even combine multiple game boards for EPIC battles (requires an additional game copy).
Deck-building x2!: During play, players will purchase cards to "build their deck" from turn-to-turn to use in subsequent turns. Prior to the game, players may bring a customized deck to buy cards from, allowing further game play flexibility!
Authenticity: Each vehicle has been painstakingly researched and then reflected into simple game play terms to ensure maximum realism without being bogged down in game play minutia. For example, some tanks may have had engine problems or sloped armor, you'll find these traits and more in TOW. When you're fighting a T-34 with your Panzer 4, it will be based on historical technical info but presented in a fast and easy to understand format.

These will be corrected prior to final publishing. The two videos below provide an overview and game play examples. They're a little long so come back when yer ready for some tank on tank action!
Setup: Players may play a tank death match (TDM) or one of the many historical scenarios available. TDMs allow players to set a Victory Point (VP) goal and pre-build a number of starter vehicles. Players score VP by destroying enemy vehicles and are awarded VP based on that vehicles point cost and by holding vital battlefield objectives.
Below is a quick overview of the game turn. Players draw up to 7 cards and then simultaneously purchase cards.
Purchase: Each player has a stack of 3 Vehicle and 3 Force cards to purchase from. Up to 3 new Vehicle and Force cards may be drawn each turn. This allows players to quickly go through their card options and buy the right cards at the right time. Players may buy Force Cards (cards that can create additional game effects) Vehicle Cards (such as Tanks and Tank Destroyers), or Supply Cards (cards used to purchase other cards). All cards except, vehicles, are placed in a player's discard to be drawn and used on a later turn. When a card is purchased it is immediately replaced with a new card to now buy.
Initiative: After purchasing, player's roll Initiative and add their current Momentum (a measure of how well the player is doing). The highest score allows that player to activate one of his vehicles first.Each time you destroy a vehicle, your momentum goes up by 1 and goes down 1 if one of your vehicles are destroyed.
Player Activations: Players alternate activating one vehicle at a time. This allows constant action and interaction between the players. You won't have much if any down time in TOW! On a player's activation he may also play his Force Cards to augment his strategies. Each vehicle has only 2 Action Points (AP). APs are spent by spotting enemy vehicles, moving, firing, rotating, hiding, etc. On a player's activation he may also use a powerful Commander Action (CA). CAs are special abilities that can allow a player to gain an additional action point, rally a fleeing vehicle, place cards in his reserve (i.e. trashing a card), use certain Force Cards, etc.
Wrap-Up: Players have one final opportunity to use a Commander Action and may discard any number of cards.

Combat is exciting and deadly in Tanks of War. A player's vehicle may be crewed by raw conscripts or battle-hardened veterans. In TOW, a vehicle can only be fired upon if it is first revealed. Each vehicle deploys face down. After spotting, it is turned face up!
Based on the type of crew, the success of hitting a target will increase or decrease. Rolling to hit is fast and easy. Determine the chance to hit and roll it, if successful you've scored a direct hit.
Each vehicle has a different gun value represented by the amount and which type of dice you'll use to roll damage with (i.e. dice types: a 4, 6, 8, or 10 sided dice). Based on which side of armor you hit, the target will roll their armor value. The difference is the amount of damage that is done.
Each vehicle can only take so much damage before it is destroyed. Players can also play powerful Force Cards that apply critical effects to a vehicle such as engine fire, ammo explosion and many more!
TOW begins June 1941, at Operation Barbarossa, (the invasion of Russia by Germany), to June 1942. Each vehicle in the starter box is relative to that time period. Tanks included are the BT--7M, T-28M, T-60, T70MD1942, T34 (3 variants), KV1, Panzer 3 (and variants), Panzerjager, Panzer 4 (and variants), Panzer 2, Marder 38, Stug 3, and many more!
Future Expansions: Future expansions will continue the time line of the war and unleash new vehicles, like the mighty King Tiger, new nations like the British and Americans and new mechanics for self-propelled guns (SPGs), aircraft, soldiers, heroic tank commanders and more!

Invasion is the second mini expansion, introducing 13 vehicle and force cards that focus on the German Reich. Included are new Vehicles and Force cards, and alternate art. Only with new equipment and strategies can we hope to crack the walls of Moscow!

**SHIPPING TO GAME STORES** We're trying to get creative with how to minimize shipping costs as we're still eating a portion of the shipping. As part of your pledge, we're going to try to ship games in bulk, to a game store near you to pick up your game (we'll ask you in the survey). We'll only do this if it's not totally out of your way and makes sense. This helps in a few ways, it allows us to get more visibility in game stores for our games and provide us a little bit more with our margins to continue to make games. Not all game stores will agree to this but we'll try. We just wanted to add this in so there's no surprises when it comes to shipping. Risks and challenges
1. We've learned a TON from our previous KS project, Storm the Castle! With 90% of the art files already complete we're near ready to start production once funding hits. We've simplified the manufacturing process and going to get TOW into your hands ASAP. Like any project, there may be hiccups but we're seasoned vets now. As our previous backers will testify, we keep in constant communication with our backers.
2. With Storm the Castle! our biggest challenge was unlocking art for each card which caused substantial delays but are well worth it as the end result is a beautiful product.
3. We've forged partnerships with freight companies and Amazon to help with fulfillment to expedite shipping.
4. We've also lined up a steady team of artists who've also committed themselves to finishing the few pieces of art left.
5. If we unlock new expansions, there may be a delay as we prep new art files.
