Officially funded! Thank you SO much for all the support thus far guys! It's been absolutely incredible, and I genuinely didn't believe it would do so well. Thank you!
So, for updates! We've passed the mark enough that I am introducing some stretch goals. Additionally, I will be posting updates for those who have pledged that include additional card previews! Again, thank you all so much for the support!
[end of update]
Outside of my deep love of cowboy superstition and aesthetic, I have always had a passion for Tarot reading and divination. I have chosen creating a tarot deck as an outlet for these fancies of mine, and also aim to make sure the deck in its entirety is, though unique, extremely functional with giving readings.
Outside of the passion, why do I do this? Well, any profit made from this project will be used to fund surgery for myself.
I am a trans man that has recently begun living my best life, and transitioning with hormone replacement therapy. But one of my biggest hangups has always been my chest. Top surgery is desperately needed for me to finally begin passing, and feeling like the person I know that I am. But surgeries are extremely expensive, and, like most of us, I am not rolling in cash to be able to afford it.
With this Kickstarter, I will be able to take a step towards my ultimate transformation into the weird urban cowboy I've always wanted to be, and I get to share some of my passions with you!
Thank you so much for any contribution or consideration. It means the world to me!
The deck is 40 cards, all unique and crafted by me. They don't follow traditional tarot. What does that mean, exactly? Wands, swords, pentacles, who needs them? Consider these all "major arcana". The Rattlesnake, The Impossible Growth, The Fortunate, and The Hunter are all featured above (listed left to right) and just 4 examples of the 40 this deck includes.
Each card has its own meaning, upright and reversed, which is included in the manual (be it digital or physical, depending on what reward tier you pick). Much like with classic tarot, these cards are designed to not only bring balance in reading, and cover a broad range of the mind, body and heart, but is intended to develop its own relationship and meanings with the individual user. The meanings written in the manual are suggested guidelines for reading with these cards.
Number of cards: 40
Card Dimensions: 70mm x 121mm, 2.75" x 4.75"

Risks and challenges
I've sat down and really thought on the balance of creating a world inside of a deck that is both whimsical and maintains a trueness to source content. The wild wild west and the time of outlaws has long passed (though, we could argue the fact that our idea of a classical western is actually an amalgamation of many times and places, but I digress...), but I aimed to capture a snippet of that feeling, much in the fashion popular culture has brought it.
Outside of this, I have also had to take great consideration in how to craft meanings that allow proper tarot readings over a range of issues while cutting the number of cards down to 40. There are no major or minor arcana, no swords or wands, just memories, moments, feelings, objects, and creatures that tell of fortune and misfortune.
Though it was challenging, I have managed to balance the good and bad (and ugly), while remaining in line with this aesthetic theme I hold so dear. Not to mention keeping the meanings both structured and vague enough so that each and every one of you can develop your own relationship with the deck, and find specifics in meanings when it's in tune with your own mind.
I have fully fleshed out the 40 cards, and brought them to life with on-theme illustrations and a washed out yet vibrant pallet specific to my aesthetic image as an artist. I've also selected a reliable printer with great reviews amongst the art community for deck printing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
