New Color: Grey! Also: Enter Your Color Selection and Shipping Address

Posted by Pebble Technology (Creator)

Hi Pebblers,

Due to extraordinary interest from our backers, we've decided to introduce a 5th Pebble colour option: Grey! Here's the current state of the Pebble rainbow:

Here's a render of the new Grey Pebble [not pictured: the 49 shades of grey that didn't make the cut]

Pebble Account website

In order to keep track of every single backer's shipping information and color selection, we created a  Pebble Account site. An invitation has been sent to the same email address that you used on Kickstarter when you backed Pebble. You can find the email in your inbox by searching for an email

Subject: Your Pebble Order - Enter shipping info and color selection

Inside that email there is a special link that invites you to create a new password for your Pebble Account. If you can't find that email in your inbox, check your spam filter as message may be misclassified. If you can't find it, make sure that is on your safe-email list and then request a password reset here.

Using the Pebble Account website, you can choose your Pebble's color, enter your current shipping address and pay any shipping fees that were not included in your pledge on Kickstarter. You have until Sept 30, 2012 to select which color you'd like. As for your shipping address, please enter your current address into the system. You can return to at any time before your Pebble ships and change your address if you move.

Tidbits from around the Pebble world

  • Shipping test has been working out well. We sent 120 test shipments to a few backers around the world to test our logistics provider and optimize the process to ensure that packages arrive safely, quickly and with as few fees as possible to our backers.
  • Backers, you've been asking about the backlight! We'll post a video on our social media accounts (twitter/Facebook/Vimeo) showing it off fairly soon
  • Andrew is in Taiwan right now working on our production test plan (among other things). Here are the latest pics
  • Here's a short video of a pug-based screen saver/graphics test on a pre-production Pebble. This is NOT the real strap, just a random sample I had on-hand.

As usual, we'll continue posting small updates in between our Kickstarter Updates on,, and responding to questions on the Pebble Forum.

Thanks again for backing us, Pebblers!

I have problem getting the notification email from pebbles. The email never arrived and I have searched the junk mail folders etc. Yes, is on the safe list of the junk filter.

Tried to write to twice, also send message through the kickstarter message system with no repsonse. Pebble admins please contact me. Thanks.

Sorry to have bother other readers, I have tried all other means since Sept.

Seriously, this colors are crap. Nothing I would wear at work. Not at any chance.

BUT I don't care for the color anymore. Switched to arctic white and am happy with it. If I need colors I could get some cheap useless 5$ watch ...
Great job on implementing the iOS-SMS into Pebble. Looking forward to receive my Pebble!!

    5. Jeffrey Audiss on

Hi, sounds like the color gray has dropped out of the color option list is that true ? thanks, Jeff A.

I'll develop a 24hrs analog watch face because that's something the world definitely needs.

    7. Miles Finlay on

When my Pebble arrives, I will slave away for hours making a watch face design that makes me smile every time I look at it! I'm creative by nature, and even small design projects that I work on give me a constant source of satisfaction when I look at them. Being able to wear my own artwork in a totally functional way will be more than awesome! Pebble has been a creative tour de force since it was conceived of and I am delighted that the SDK allows others to add to that! Bravo!

I've just skim-read the last week's worth of comments and they have everything: whining, impatience, paranoia, praise, and entitlement. My comment? Let me preface by saying that I am as eager as the next person to have the Pebble on my wrist already. Having said that, 1) Kickstarter projects are PROJECTS and projects, by definition have unforeseens that affect timeline, cost, delivery date. I FULLY expect projects involving new products to have delays. Duh. 2) The people at Pebble appear to have their heads screwed on right, know what they are doing, and trying to get out the door a product that exceeds our expectations. I am happy about that philosophy. 3) To the ones whining about the amount they have put at risk for a Pebble: NO ONE put a gun to your head, it was YOUR choice to want to have something cool and if you chose to plunk down $100 or $150 bucks for this LUXURY/TOY vs. spending it on your kids' food, your medicing, or car repairs, i.e. NECESSITIES, then you need to take a hard look in the mirror about your values and priorities. 4) Kickstarter projects are more than just about getting something back. It's about PARTICIPATION and SUPPORT of other people's dreams: it's NOT about your selfish instant-gratification entitlement view of the world. 5) For the paranoid wacky-techies who scrutinize the videos and updates so they expound smugly here on what they think is "wrong" or "fake": channel that jealousy into a project of your own.

Sheesh... don't you people have a life not tied to getting a WATCH, cool as it will be when it FINALLY arrives?? Have some perspective. Use this energy and play with your kids or go fly a kite. I mean it in the real world - not metaphorically - GO OUTSIDE AND FLY A KITE and get rid of this negative attitude!

As for you who work at Pebble. DON'T let a 2nd rate product out the door, but also DON'T delay so as to add a bell or whistle that can come in an update. DO send more updates: they don't need to be fancy. We just want to know you ARE working and making progress....and not in a bar in Shanghai buying "champagne" for the bar-girls.

    10. Christopher Le on

It looks like they may be shipping late Q4. They're taking their time and doing it right, giving us a quality product as advertised in their Kickstarter. Great job guys! I wish you guys could have gone with a neon high visibility green for bike commuters/runners! >_<

I am a backer of this project...I did not see any link or a place to pay for shipping when I updated my shipping address last month...Can you tell us more about it?

    12. Mark Moeller on

Hi i can log into my KS account but i can't log into my pebble account? i was wondering how i should remedy this the email account i had before i can no longer log into that email account i would like some help if possible.

    13. Sucharith Menon on

      Any updates on delivery schedule?

    14. Jason Tse on

I'm sorry...but since we made contributions to this project, I think we deserve the rights to know and get more updates. I understand what they said about the shipping date and updates frequency, but they also said estimated shipping date is Sept...I don't think anyone will be ok with a indefinite shipping date for any product I don't think any of the backers, regardless you are a first timer or a veteran, should think there's anything wrong with sending questions to the project starters

    15. Missing avatar

      Hans Denijs on

Delivery should be now in october otherwise the project is not trustworthy any more. Kickstarter and Pebble are not about subsidized hobby projects but about business and financing.

    16. Missing avatar

      heathkid on

More frequent updates would be nice. All the other projects I've backed have given weekly updates.

    18. Missing avatar

      gymrookiel on

When I back this project was because they promised a delivered in September. Now, September is almost gone and it clearly that they were not able to meet their promises. I was charged immediately right after I backed this project and now I have to wait possible until next year when the watch reach retail store. I shouldn't wait until then.

    19. Brinn Joyce on

@Jason Tse: They've already given their position on giving us a shipping date in the last update: "While we won't be posting a shipping date until we're extremely certain that we'll be able to meet it, our feeling is that by monitoring our progress by the updates you'll have an excellent feel for how the project is going."
They also said that the updates will come every three weeks. Given that this one was on the 6th, expect the next one to be around the 27th.

    20. Jason Tse on

Any updates on the shipping? It's been a while since we last heard from you guys

      Kjell Nolke on

Ok. So I think it's like this. iOS 6 is out this week. iPhone 5 is out next month. The boys will probably need to run a good few tests on iOS 6 etc ... Even though the sdk is out a while. They probably need to make a few ... Test the final product. Maybe give them to a bunch of 5 yr olds to play with, knock them about a bit. All of which takes some time. Then when they have hopfully withstood that onslought they might just trust us with them enough to send them to us. Now I for one would be happy to get it under the tree in December. Havent had presi that cool under the tree since I was 5!!

    23. Teddy A Jasin on

guys can you take a video shot of the colors available for us to choose?
yeah there's a pic, but what if the result not the same as the preview pic?

    24. CaffeineJunkie on

I would imagine the people on the Hackers special will still be the first to recieve Pebbles. Where did you get this date of 30th of September.

    25. greezer on

so, If I'm getting it right, no one, even the "Hackers" did get a pebble yet? If I paid 235$ for get it by the same time all the others get theirs, I would be.. slightly angry...?
And there's no chance, they will send it out directly after 30th of September, because I guess, they will then start producing the colors.
Hope I'll get it by the end of October..

    26. CaffeineJunkie on

Apparently they tested the screen with a pair of palarizing sunglasses and the screen blanks out for a few degrees at around 45 degrees so it shouldn't be a problem.

    27. Ken Walker on

A thought: How does the screen look when viewed through polarized sunglasses?

    28. Chris Stratford on

I would love to get access to the SDK so I can begin to tinker.

    29. Michael Spencer on

I have been talking about this forever and I cannot wait to get this! Think this will be huge for Christmas for all the techies out there that love the hottest new thing! I can see it now PEBBLES for Chistmas!

    30. Justin Mitchel on

I WANT MINE!! hurrry up. :)

      Hamish Johnstone on

@Chris Stratford you are welcome. Although I saw on the news recently some muppet in Federal Parliament wants to "even out the playing field" and "bring Australia into line with the likes of the UK" by dropping the threshold to about $35 before they start charging GST.... Yikes, there goes Internet bargains!!
Let's hope either a) they don't or b) Pebble ships first (I'm in for 5)

    32. Chris Stratford on

Attention Pebble team, please ship my pack of 10 on a day where 1 AU$ dollar buys more than 1 US$.

I kid. I kid. It would only work out to being $60 or something in taxes.

    33. Chris Stratford on

@Hamish Johnstone - thanks for that link!
I ordered 10 of the things, so if they mark them $99 each I shouldn't be charged any duty.

I guess it all will depend on the exchange rate at the time the watches are imported.
Hopefully the AU$ is above parity.

    34. Noah Foreman on

I also would like to see some images of the plastic samples before the end of the month.

    35. CaffeineJunkie on

@Baiminghui How much did you originally pledge for your two Pebbles?

    36. Missing avatar

      baiminghui on

I have given over the shipping!!
But in your web, also to let me pay for it(balance due: $30!!)? Please confirm.
I bought two pebbles, and I hope it is a black and a white.
      Thank you ~

    37. Missing avatar

      niceguyeddie on

Though I'm thankful for the fifth color option I think I'm gonna stick with black. In my opinion it has something the other colors don't have. A black screen with a black bezel sometimes creates the illusion that there is no bezel. (depending on the light and how you look at it) I see this on my phone everyday and I love it. (You can see that in several scenes of the main pebble video, too)

When I feel the need for another color some day I can still change the band.
However I also would like to see some images of the plastic samples before the end of the month.

    38. SergeyVolodin on

      Hi guys!
The last day for update info is 30th september. Is it mean that after this day you will start delivery pebble to backers?

And here's one showing the red, as it looked in the initial video, next to the early mockup and then the current version.

      Andrew Sullivan on

Here's a side by side comparison of the two reds. Old is on the left, new on the right. Worth looking at, for anyone who is considering ordering that color. If you made your decision based on how it looked in the early pics and video, you may not be getting what you think.

Hopefully we'll see some real photos soon, so we can see what the final versions look like.

I just wanted to say to the Pebble team that while I *hate* being patient, it makes it so much easier that you guys have been communicating so openly and regularly. The pictures and explanations in your updates that explain your decisions and the process are really interesting and give me a much deeper insight in all the work you're doing. I know it's probably annoying to have to make time in your already packed schedules to come explain every detail to a mob of crazed and demanding backers, but it's been my favorite part of this process! Maybe it's being presumptuous, but it really makes me feel like I'm actually a part (albeit a small part) of the Pebble team! Thanks so much for these updates!

Very pleased you added Grey. Can't help but think that all the votes for the 50 shades of grey (watch colour not book!) would have greatly exceeded the votes for orange.

Grey is nice, thank you... but a nice dark blue is missing. Would look great great a fill in a hole in the spectrum! Go on, just one more colour, against the 80k you are building it wouldn't be a major stretch to do it... Ok, bleat over...!
