1) The newly open Ft Smith Regional Museum of Art honored me by requesting an installation proposal. After months of brainstorming while the building was prepared for the grand opening in Jan 2013, the museum director, the board and yours truly finally decided to wrap with clothespins, four trees in front of the museum. The installation and artist talk will coincide with Earth Day 2013.
See info/invitation on the museum's web site here:
2) Well over 7000 wood clothespins are being drilled and connected by wires, creating the "sheets" which will wrap around the main trunk of 4 trees facing the front of the museum. Upon completions of its parts in my studio in Miami, the work will be shipped to Ft Smith, AK.
3) April 16-17 and possibly the 18th, 2013 will find me on site, mostly on tall ladders, adapting the pieces made in warm Miami to the cold Arkansas trees. On site changes will be made to accommodate branches, etc and secure the work against weather and passerby's touch, which is encourage as it is an interactive piece.
4) Upon completion, the work will remain for an undetermined amount of time for museum guests and regular city traffic to discover and enjoy.
The project is partially funded however I need to cover personal and production cost.

Risks and challenges
As far as risks and challenges, climbing shaky and often wet ladders can be a bit stressful for me as well as for those watching the process. I strap the ladder to the tree and bring the work and tools up with me.
In Seattle a crow stole my hamburger, environmentalist showed concern in Everett, in Miami it rained for the duration of the installation, and Key West was too perfect to be working!.
The other great challenge is that I am currently working on my MFA which takes a great deal of my time and money.
At the time of this writing I am way on my way by having drilled a few hundred of the 7k plus clothespins needed.
With the projects just announced. I am past the point of no return!
Thank you for your interest and support!
