LEGENDS & LABYRINTHS™ uses a unique blend of game design from throughout history and all the editions of various RPGs (making it a "universal game" that allows you to once again play with your friends who prefer different incarnations of the most famous fantasy roleplaying game) and storytelling (from Origins-Award® nominated lead designer and Hollywood screenwriter/producer George Strayton) to create a fast and flexible tabletop fantasy game system of roleplaying, exploration, and constant danger, interlaced with unique “immersion” mechanics to enhance the experience of descending into dungeons, exploring uncharted wilderness, or saving the innocent from certain doom. These roleplaying mechanics reward players for immersing themselves in their character's three-dimensional personality as well as the world in which they exist, a game element never before seen in games like Dungeons & Dragons.
"With LEGENDS & LABYRINTHS, George Strayton is following in the footsteps of the inventor and master of roleplaying games, Gary Gygax, expanding on Gary's original vision of fantasy roleplaying by taking it back to its roots while simultaneously bringing it into the future."
— Gail Gygax
“I had the opportunity to sit down at my FLGS and playtest a convention scenario for the upcoming RPG Legends & Labyrinths. There is literally something for everyone in the rules, no matter what edition you started with and some very innovative and interesting mechanics to the game.
— Michael Curtis, Author of THE DUNGEON ALPHABET
In addition, L&L, at its heart, seeks to make the world a better place by encouraging personal development and charity work using mechanics that translate those efforts in the real-world into special bonuses used within the game. It's a win-win system that gets people to work together to share their talents to achieve a common good, something our world could use now more than ever.
“A flavor-filled approach to fantasy gaming that puts the mystery and magic back into the dark recesses of the dungeon.”
— Monte Cook, co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition
This isn't a video game. In L&L, you sit down face-to-face with your friends in a social setting, rather than the austere and (sadly, as we've seen in the news recently) at times hurtful, destructive, and inhuman realm of cyberspace. We want people to share their experiences as adventurers while in a truly "interactive" environment: the same room! Tabletop RPG sales have plummeted over the past few years while sales of console and PC RPG games have only continued to rise. Brick and mortar game stores continue to go out of business or switch over to stocking primarily collectible card games. We don't want to see our amazing hobby, started by E. Gary Gygax, continue to shrink.
The money we raise will pay for our team of designers, developers, artists, editors, graphic designers, and marketing personnel to bring this new, unique, and positive gaming experience to roleplayers across the world. We've already been running playtests everywhere from New York City to London and Paris. But now it's time to put pen to paper, finish creating the best possible game, and then get it into the hands of players all around the globe.
Adventure awaits, in the fantasy world as well as our own! Help us make the world a better place for all living beings while having fun in the process. Join the evolution now and make a difference while entertaining yourself and your friends. If you want to be a patron of the indie gaming arts in a market dominated by multi-million- and multi-billion-dollar corporations, please contribute and we'll thank you for your donation with a small token of our appreciation. It's a win-win!
