Bespoke Botanical Beauty
geo-fleur adds art to nature with unique, design-led settings for cacti and succulents. Our terrariums, planters and vases in beautiful geometric forms bring a little gorgeous green into urban homes.
I studied fine art at The University of Westminster, where I specialised in geometric abstraction. My mum is a fabulous florist and a constant inspiration to me. Catching her passion for creating fantastic floral explosions of colour and form for weddings and other events encouraged me to bring my art to nature. And so geo-fleur was born.
geo-fleur started in October 2014, when I tried out a few of my favourite pieces at Christmas markets and craft fairs. The response was overwhelming, with demand constantly outstripping supply. So I started adding new lines and attending more fairs. The turning point was Renegade Craft Fair, Brick Lane in April 2015. I sold the entire stock on the first day. As I worked through the night to restock my stall, I realised others shared my passion for botanical beauty. I decided to pursue my dream of turning it into a business.
Kickstarter would help geo-fleur take this next important step. This dream includes a vibrant local shop, bringing together flowers, succulents and cacti, and art on the walls. Among the designs would be the new products that launched at Renegade, such as leather plant hangers – a particular hit with urbanites looking for a furry cactus to brighten their day.
With help we could:
Raise £5,000 to buy a nippy Volkswagen Caddy van, the most reliable and cost effective option. Currently we use public transport for picking up and delivering products to and from our shop and markets. A beautiful branded van would be far more cost effective. Also included in this would be the running costs for keeping the van on the road, petrol, road tax and insurance. Boring things but super important!
If we raise more than our goal - we would love to:
Fund a ceramics course at http://turningearthceramics.co.uk/ - a 12 week course at £255, and then a monthly fee of £140 for a year = £1,680, to give us the skills to create unique ceramic pots for our lovely succulents and cacti.
Fund a metalworks course at Blackhorse Road Studios, to make our own terrariums and Mid Century Modern inspired plant stands. A welding workshop at Blackhorse Road costs £140 + 12 months membership of the studio at £900, plus a studio space there at £260 per month = £4,160.
Hire more workshop venues to spread the "green word"with geo-fleur workshops around the UK, and possibly to grow our shop into a bigger retail unit.... eek! (big 2016 plan)
This is the van we would like:
