We're Adding The $250K Custom Wood Markers Anyway!

Posted by John Coveyou (Genius Games) (Creator)

Hello Periodic Backers!

I wanted to send a really quick update. I am actually in Toronto waiting for my flight and it just got delayed another 3 hours. Yuck! Heading to Dublin from here and then on to Cologne, then a train to Essen so we can attend Essen Spiel. If you'll be there, please come by and say hello! We'll be in Hall 5i booth 111.

We're adding Custom Shaped Goal Markers!

Well, I LOVE this new design for the goal markers that Tomasz came up with, and it's clear from all the comments that you backers love them as well. So, we are just going to add them into the game anyway. I mean... look at them!

Update on the Files

I was frantically trying to finish all file information I needed to send to Tomasz before I left, so he can finish the files and then we can send them to the manufaturer. The process to ready all the files for printing and get them over to the manufacturer usually takes us a good month or so. There is a lot that goes into it.

A lot of that is the rulebook, and the review from our science review team, but this time around finalizing all the goals cards was one of the bigger tasks for me.

Goal Cards are Finished

One of the most time consuming things about this game has been the Goal Cards. They neeed to be scientifically accurate, relavant and also balanced with respect to all the other goal cards and the locations of the elements on the periodic table. We ended up removing a few goal cards because our team of science reviewers felt a few of them were lacking. But they had a TON of suggestion and we were able to use many of them. So, even though we removed a numebr of Goal Cards, we ended up adding even more!

Lovelace and Babbage Ends Today!!!

I mentioned this campaign before but I wanted to let everyone know that Artana has a game currently live on Kickstarter themed around Lovelace and Babbage. I've worked with Artana a number of times and they do REALLY amazing work. We have actually shared booth space with Artana many years at various conventions so I wanted to mentioned the great work they are doing.

Check out the Kickstarter for Lovelace & Babbaage here!

CrowdOx Pledge Manage

We're almost finished uploading all the content we need into CrowdOx, our pledge manager, so backers can send us their shipping info and/or update their pledges. I am not sure I'll have the time to complete while I'm at Essen. If not, I'll send it out shortly after we return.

And please excuse me if it's takes me a bit longer to respond over the next two weeks!

Thanks again for your support during the campaign!

So excited you are including the goal markers. You always go above and beyond which is why I back every campaign. Great update letting us know what to expect. Thanks for both.

Anything that makes a game more accessible should always be included. Thank you for this.

As a colorblind gamer I say thank you for the custom markers :)
Your pastel range of colors is very pleasing to the eye but can be quite a challenge.

I am so grateful! So many times I lose track of pieces and can't concentrate on strategy because I'm so focused on trying to figure out whose color is whose. You are wonderful!

Very curious how many goal cards did we end up with in each color?
