Stretch Goals and some FUN mentions!

We’ve reached our one-week-after-launch mark and thanks to you, it’s been good - we’ve almost hit 250% of our funding goal and are still growing slowly but surely!!

-

We hit our first stretch goal a couple of days ago and are well on our way to hitting the next one in the following week!

One in particular that I am personally excited about is a set of rules that allow for competitive play. We’ve been playtesting a competitive version of the game and it’s looking pretty good.

You can find a full list of stretch goals on the campaign page.

Media and Blog Mentions

We’ve had some pretty exciting mentions in the media and blog-o-sphere over the weekend: Here are a few in particular!

One question I have...

Are any of you interested in pledging to receive a collector's edition of Covalence? This would be a limited print run with, with each game individually numbered and would feature metallic ink embossed on the box, and some extra fancy stuff. These are a big more expensive to produce and there is a minimum quantity we’d need to print, so we’re only considering it if there are many backer with potential interest.

Overflowing with Appreciation!

John

John, thanks for the info and your dedication to this project. I understand your situation and although I don't know if I would take that big of a risk, I truly appreciate you doing it for us. I guess I was hoping for stretch goals that would up the card count, or give us more content, maybe add some cool components that are special to this game but these goals benefit backers and non-backers who only have to sit around and wait for a retail copy. I guess I just thought we as backers would get something special for backing but that is not the case and that makes ME sad.

@ Raging Robot - Thanks again for your questions! I really appreciate how passionate you are about my games and this campaign. :-) I started with a $7,500 for a number of reasons, but I will explain the most important part of my reasoning for you.

I have already sunk a LOT of money (my personal money) into getting this game to this point; all the artwork, the prototyping process, finalizing prototypes to send copies to out to playtesters and reviewers, Kickstarter video, (not to mention the time), etc. If we have a HIGH funding goal and don’t reach it, we lose everything! All the money I sunk into this would be gone. If we have a lower funding goal and we barely reach it, then it requires a more money from me to finish the project but I don’t lose everything.

This is not a risk I would advise other people to take, but I am willing to put my own money up to finish the project if we need to because I am VERY passionate about making highly accurate science based games a reality.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I’d be very happy to address them for you Ragging Robot! :-)

@ Jessica - I totally hear you there! I'll try and get some info together to see what major goodies we could throw into a collector's box.
@ John - Ooh a card signed by me :-) I am flattered! Thanks for your feedback!

John, if you can't even make the game for 15K then why would you set a $7,500 fund goal? If all you did was fund the game and that's it you wouldn't be able to make the game. This doesn't even make sense. Your whole breakdown doesn't make sense, even if you triple fund your game you just said you can't cover the base costs!
I'm sorry but there is no point in talking to you about this.

I too might be interested in a collector's edition, but would also more info. Because although pretty, metallic pain alone is, to me, not worth pledging extra for.

      Hi John
Yes I would definitely be interested in a collectors edition. I just need to know how much more it would cost - just having fancier design on the front and having it number is good enough for me.
If it could include a card signed by you as well. Or the card posted to me if the game is shipped form China then I would be even happier

      Thanks

      John

@ Raging Robot – I am sorry to hear your disappointment. Your angry tone makes me sad. :-(

If you will permit me to clarify a few things? First, you stated that “ALL of these stretch goals could have been done before 15K” Actually, we can’t even make the base game for $15K, and won’t cover our base costs until we are a little above $21K. Second, the $35K stretch goal is not card quality, it's thicker more durable cardboard tiles.

I would love for you to tell me what you would prefer to have instead, Raging Robot? I look forward to hearing your suggestions :-)

@ Loren - Definitely! I am still figure that out with the manufacturing. Some one suggested it and I think it could be good, but still need to identify exactly what will go inside.
@ Brian - Awesome! Got it

It makes me feel as is if we are going to get a half-assed, low quality game unless we reach 35K! Sad!

I would be interested in the collector's edition as well. Though I would like a little more info on things like price and "extra fancy stuff" before I make up my mind

Ok, you had a $7,500 funding amount and we blew past it. I was getting excited to see what cool stuff you would add to the game and to my utter disappointment all your stretch goals are material upgrades! I'm so utterly disappointed that I'll probably pull out of this one. Really, 35K stretch goal and its still card quality! You will be going almost 30K dollars above the funding goal and ALL of these stretch goals could have been done before 15K! I'm sorry John but will all the success you've been having on all the game so far, this is just complete and total disappointment.

Count me in for a collector's edition!
