New Stretch Goal! (My head must be up in the clouds) If I can raise up to 18K, I can have a booth at Book Expo at the Javits in June. If not, the 15K will help me develop the E-Book!
Note: Anyone who has pledged $12 or more will get the option to download & preview before the book goes to print in March! Thank you everyone for making this project a wonderful success! =)
We all know kids now a days are born with a gadget in their hands. Children love both apps and printed books, so why not a traditional printed book that has illustrations of a modern app? The bright and beautiful tablet graphics and character designs will keep young children engaged as they play along with each lesson on cuteness.
Coatis, short for Coatimundis, are mammals of the raccoon family from South America. With their long tails and flexible snouts, they are known as the Brazilian Aardvark. Cutie Coati is a ring-tailed species from Brazil, where he is known as a Quati. (Kwa-Chi)
Cutie Coati's likes include blowing bubbles with his long snout, learning magic tricks and building box spaceships to frequently visit the moon. He spends most of his days and nights doing his homework, reading science fiction and discovering new apps. His favorite meal is an ant sandwich with acai juice and rice crispy treats for dessert. Yummy! He loves to share. Cutie is fluent in English, Brazilian Portuguese and Martian.
Cutie downloads an app that features 25 mammals and a dinosaur, an Oryctodromeus (or-rick-toe-droe-mee-us). What do they have in common? All of them are close friends that live in the Alphaburrows. In these burrows is where they play, nap and eat lunch together.
The book is 75% there. The story is written with all 44 pages and characters storyboarded in a tight full-scale b&w format. The next steps? Give it that 100% hyper-charged awesomeness kick with bright and bold illustrations.

For the past decade, I've been dreaming about being a children's book author and illustrator. At the beginning of this year, due to a wonderful chain of events, I was able to fully submerge myself in this creative world, and as everyday passes, I desire it even more. I wish to wake up every morning continuing to do this work in my studio that I love, with my Pom, Kiddo. Imagining up new characters, stories and fantasy worlds that delight and inspire children to read.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review my Kickstarter campaign. It really means the world to Cutie Coati and the Adorable Alphabelly Animals.
Find out more about the characters and my creative process on the links below. Please help spread the word! Cutie Coati would really appreciate it! =)
Risks and challenges
The good news.
This is my first adventure into the realm of children's publishing.
The bad news?
Well, since it is my first time and I am but a mere mortal, I cannot see into the future. Due to my hazy crystal ball, I've taken all the detailed steps to try and forecast all possible outcomes. But as they say, you "never know". However, here's the...
I'll make sure you are in "the know". I plan on communicating my process and keeping everyone well informed until the books are ready to ship out. If all goes as planned, the books will be at your doorsteps in 6 months at the end of the campaign, if not sooner. I'll try my best to keep this promise.
Please note: Since this is a work in progress, the illustrations, character names and even the title could possibly change as I receive feedback from you, my awesome Kickstarter fans! Comments, questions and creative input are always welcome! firstname.lastname@example.org =)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
