Status Update Jan 2nd, 2014 Belated Happy New Year

3 likes

We haven't forgotten about you! How could we? Not only have you all helped to make this project a reality, but every day goes by that we have to sit on your pledges for one reason or another, morale continues to dive knowing that our best hopes for deadlines long past have not, and in hindsight could not have, been met. And you continue to anxiously wait, which we are eternally grateful for. Please believe us when we say that there is nothing we want more than to get you all your GCW-Zeros!

As stated earlier, pro-visionary shipping to EU and Asia resumed last week. We're now waiting to see if any of them get pinged by customs for problems. Once we're certain that we meet all shipping requirements, we will choke our local carrier with the remaining units. :)

A realistic deadline for getting the remaining units out the door (and we're all knocking on wood trying to keep the jinxes at bay) would be the first week of February. It seems far off, another month, but considering the delays to date, it would be foolish not to factor in last minute, and hopefully minor, final step problems.

Again, we're very sorry for all of the delays, all the missteps, all of the communication problems. It has not been an easy wait, for you or for us... But we're getting there.

Happy 2014!

Mikhail Tuzikov, Beaux Hemmer, and 1 more person like this update.

      @BITTON
      Actually can't buy from them.
      Coz. dragonbox.de is only one who don't have in stock.
      I think reason is CE/FCC/WEEE things.
      That's why Justin didn't ship to them yet.

    2. BITTON on February 10, 2014

      For those who want one, you can buy it here :
      https://www.dragonbox.de/de/suche…
      Of course, you'll pau it double, of course, backers who helped and believed in the project came after buiseness, of course, of course, course...
      It's really amazing that some shop could have them before backers. That means all of us could have a GCW zero for the same price today if we didn't help on kickstarter.
      It's nosense!!!

      Folks, please go to https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gcw/gcw-zero-open-source-gaming-handheld/comments and read what's happening to your fellow backers. There are many, many people still waiting for their consoles. At least one backer managed to get refunded by his credit card company. We should probably all post our complaints to the main comments thread instead of different threads. That we, we can also organise our protest in one place.

      Does anybody in Europe even have one of these yet? It'll soon be a whole year after estimated delivery. :)

      It is true when you say it has been a difficult wait, but just hearing 'something' would alleviate a lot of concerns that are building here. It's been five weeks since any communication from the team and the silence is becoming deafening.

      @ Atsushi - In all fairness, PureWicked.AU ordered and paid for his units back in 2012. Ithic.com did as well but he's already sold that whole order so he is now on his second batch which wasn't ordered until just a few months ago. The units for sale on ThinkGeek.com and the current units on Ithic.com all came after Kickstarter and shouldn't have been allowed. PureWicked.AU has gotten screwed by Justin more than any of us and he is the only retailer left that deserves to have this units for sale on this site.

    8. Atsushi Hatsukano on February 6, 2014

      I know someone already got their unit include here in Japan also.
      But point is from update#71 there is no unit to shipped out to anywhere til now.
      And now available in thinkgeek.com,ithic.com,PureWicked.AU.
      How bout ours?

      Yes, the illusive GCW Zero does in fact exist. I did get mine and I am in the United States. No one knows how many have actually been sent out because we've been given contradicting numbers on how many have shipped but I know that SOME have shipped out.

      Has anyone actually received a unit, anywhere in the world. I know for a fact that the US folks have not (all) received theirs, and in theory those went out first.

    12. Eugene Sandulenko on February 6, 2014

      Please post an update.

      @Florian Mihola
      100% Agree with you

      @Terry Douglas
      Actually 1st of Feb is just one day so probably they talking about week of 3rd of Feb
      At the moment still no signal from them yet
      How bout u?

    14. Terry Douglas on February 5, 2014

      First week of Feb is drawing to a close, is there an update on the shipments?

      Florian on February 4, 2014

      @Atsushi Hatsukano

      Yes, something should happen this week. There should at least be an update!
      Well, if they don't have "our" units, but gave some to thinkgeek, then we DO have something to complain about. They can't just make us wait for no reason. I meant: either it's a all a huge scam and they never built any, never shipped any etc (very unlikely) or we HAVE to get them. It's already pretty unfair, we all paid at the same time, yet some of us wait for months while others already got their units..

    16. Atsushi Hatsukano on February 3, 2014

      @Florian Mihola
      Sorry I'm bit misread
      Actually some of Japanese also get their unit especially when they using fulfillment company for shipping.
      When they ship unit by their own it happened.
      Now another sad thing is anybody can buy from thinkgeek.com anytime.
      Some of Japanese also bought from them and get earlier than us.(it takes only few days)
      So they made unit(this is true) but point is not sure they still have in stock for us or not.
      if they don't have in stock for us and that is a reason for delay was
      may be it's kind of scam?
      of course I don't want to think like that.
      So I'm just waiting their update for this week(or shipping notification - this is best)
      Should something happen isn't it?

    17. Atsushi Hatsukano on February 3, 2014

      @Florian Mihola
      No I don't think so.
      I think almost 500+ user still waiting for their unit.
      See Update #71
      He said Only 533 units are left to ship.
      But since from that update they didn't ship any unit til now(looks like)

      And now first week of February.
      So see what happen coz. it should shipped out this week as they wrote.

      Wait, I thought you made some, some people have them, right? Just not us europeans (oh, and some aussies, and some fellas in Japan... and then some). Or is it just a big scam and they never made a single one?! I don't see how we shouldn't get ours if they managed to build the thing...

    19. Daniel Mordant on February 3, 2014

      Neither to Belgium.... so, what can we do now ? No console, no update, no response to my mails, I guess I lost 155$...

      Just read this, jan 2nd and it stated EU shipping was supposed to start the previous week, now 27th Jan and no sign of mine in the UK. Between this and Ouya I'll never back hardware on kickstarter again.

    24. Atsushi Hatsukano on January 24, 2014

      I got PM from Justin more than 2 weeks ago regarding about my address but after that nothing from him til now
      I have no idea what was purpose for
      Even I asking on gmail account but still no answer....
      I'm in Japan and also still waiting for my unit like others
      I"m really doesn't understand why he afraid for
      So question is still have money for shipping?
      Or may be waiting for money from dealer something??
      I don't wanna said like that but too much delay by unacceptable reason.

      @Gavin -- Not a problem! Happy to help!

      From Justin: "For information on individual orders, we've set up an account at GCWdistro@gmail.com. I should state that this account will be managed by representatives of GCW, but not exclusively by Justin Barwick. Questions and comments (both positive and negative) are welcome, and we will try our best to get back to you as soon as we can. You may use this contact as a sounding board if you wish, but only emails containing questions specific to your order will guarantee a timely response."

      @Beaux Hemmer
      Thanks for posting that bit of info. Being an Australian backer myself, it's good to know that there are still AUS orders yet to ship/receive notification and I'm not alone thinking there may have been something amiss with my Zero. Cheers!

    31. Beaux Hemmer on January 5, 2014

      From Justin: Only a few AUS orders have been sent so far; the majority are waiting to be mailed with the other international orders. Sorry again for the communication problems... We'll be setting up a contact for distribution and shipping inquiries in the next few days that you can email to get information on individual orders.

    32. Atsushi Hatsukano on January 5, 2014

      Hi Justin,
      Actually some of Japanese backer already got their unit in last year (Oct)
      So I don't understand why you doing checking like that.
      Looks like just spend extra time.
      If you want to know I think simply to ask customer you already sent, that's enough.
      Only need to know EU customer isn't it?

    33. Jason Crossman on January 4, 2014

      @Matt Perry
      I'm an Australian backer and I have not received my console, either. I haven't received any shipping neither, so I just assumed that they hadn't sent Australian console yet.

      @Justin, if Australian backers should have received their consoles could I please get an update about me? When was it sent, etc.

      Thank you.

      Hi Justin,
      Apologies for asking a shipping question, yet I am concerned because other backers in my country (Australia) have long since received their consoles and every other backer on neo-geo.com has received their consoles. Just looking for an update on my personal situation please :) Thankyou and cheers.

    35. Atsushi Hatsukano on January 3, 2014

      Very disappointed.
      I couldn't find any other word except "why?"
      This post is kind a bad joke.
      Coz. your explanation is unacceptable.
      If I bought from thinkgeek , I'll get within 1 week even I'm living in Japan.

      Do you realize how hard it is to trust GCW when you give false information and then don't even back it up with an apology or explanation? The update from December 2nd said that the shipping to Asia had resumed then, not a few days ago. That was a whole month that people in Asia have been expecting to get their package. Why would anyone believe that shipping has resumed now when you said it resumed a month ago? You might not be able to fix the fact that there have been so many delays, but you can always fix the "communication problems". Hopefully in 2014 GCW will figure that out.

    37. des on January 2, 2014

      I just checked again, it's been almost exactly 6 months since shipping of Kickstarter units has started. And now it will be another month, this is not including the weeks/month it will take until it's shipped and handled by customes (or any other delays we might get if anything else happens this time). Nothing left to say except that this is pretty ridiculous ...

    38. Beaux Hemmer on January 2, 2014

      Paulo, it looks like there were a 3 units already shipped to SA. The remaining were lumped in with EU and Asia orders. Sorry, but it looks like if you didn't receive it last month, you'll have a little longer to wait. But you'll get it, we promise!

    39. Baumgartner Thomas on January 2, 2014

      Is it really that hard to look up what is required and send them all at once? To send a few and wait a month to see if everything gets through, this is highly unprofessional. And what if there is still something missing? Lets wait another couple of months :-(

    40. Paulo Munoz Pizarro on January 2, 2014

      and South America? :(
