Frequently Asked Questions
Why are shipping prices so high? I've had stuff shipped across the world for cheaper than you're shipping prices for across the states!
From Greenbrier Games:
Shipping prices listed are a padded, conservative estimate. In our experience it is easier to tell backers "hey - you actually have to pay less money then we said you would!" Compared to "I'm sorry, you owe us more money than you planned on."
The current numbers are based on actual shipping rates. As a small company, we are only able to leverage a handful of distribution centers. Other companies, shipping much larger quantities of goods, are able to A) eat shipping costs internally, B) reduce shipping costs by bundling packages in with much larger shipments, and C)utilize a large network of fulfillment centers that we currently cannot.
We are also currently comparing quotes from new companies, attempting to work out the best deals for people.Last updated:
The core game that is being offered on this Kickstarter comes with an updated rulebook and some story booklet text clarifications. We'll be offering these online as free downloads so you won't need to buy the core game again.
If you own the first edition of the Grimslingers core game, it used a glossy cardstock. The 2nd and 3rd editions of the Grimslingers core game use a matte cardstock. The Northern Territory expansion also uses the matte cardstock.
If you combine the glossy cardstock of the 1st edition of Grimslingers, with the matte cardstock of The Nothern Territory Expansion, it won't really affect the actual gameplay, but it might bother you if you prefer a consistent cardstock. We recommended sleeving your cards to alleviate this issue, or buying a 2nd or 3rd edition of the Grimslingers core game.
The 3rd edition is available via this Kickstarter.Last updated:
What is the difference between the neoprene player mats and the player mats that come with The Northern Territory expansion?
The neoprene player mats are much larger, and fit all of your character space cards, excluding the level/special trackers. The neoprene mat will also be more artsy.
The four (now six with stretch goals) cardstock player mats that come with The Nothern Territory expansion are much smaller but come with helpful reminder text for combat. They are also color coded to help with player targeting is versus. You can see a WIP design here: http://i.imgur.com/qOyVo6B.pngLast updated:
Will you be releasing a pack of cards that update things that were changed from first edition to the second or third?
Short answer: No.
Long answer: The only major change from 1st edition to the 2nd edition version of the game are that items cards that use to say "do not discard" now say "deactivate on use." There are no item cards anymore that are meant to say "do not discard" and I believe that is easy enough to remember.
All other changes are very minimal and won't have a big impact on gameplay. Basically, you can ignore any changes made and not worry, except for item cards that say "do not discard" should be used as "deactivate on use."
Currently, the only proper way to update your core game is to buy a new 2nd or 3rd edition (2nd edition is in retail, 3rd is available via this kickstarter).Last updated:
Yes! They are full sized poker style cards. The deck has 4 wilds (jokers) as opposed to the regular 2 though.Last updated:

In the core game, there are about 4-6 hours of solo/co-op content. This largely depends on how long you take to accomplish each chapter, and if you fail the chapter and have to do it again.
The Nothern Territory expansion mainly focuses on adding solo/co-op content, and it adds quite a lot. It easily adds 10+ hours. The main campaign will have multiple routes through each chapter. As well, each character can be leveled up on their own, which takes awhile to accomplish.
The new progress/achievement system gives players a plethora of activities and feats to attempt to accomplish to gain "progress points" in order advance their chosen character.
Each of the 6 areas in the expansion are different and randomized, it will take several visits to each area to experience all it has to offer. Each area also has a list of one-time only tasks that can be completed. These are like big boss fights and special events.
In short, there is a LOT more solo/co-op content being added via the new expansion!Last updated:
Good question! The world's greatest scientists have been hard at work on this very topic for nearly three decades, but have yet to come up with any concrete conclusions.
Don't worry, there is always hope that science will one day bring us the answers we so desperately yearn to have.Last updated:
