-------
GaymerX is returning as GX3: Everyone Games!

Hooray! It's GX3: Everyone Games.
Although we are still GaymerX, we've become more and more aware that not all of our attendees identify with the 'gaymer' label. While we love all our gay dude friends (and many of our organizers identify as gay males), we realize there are more people than that who want an awesome space to hang with their friends in a safe and diverse environment. We want to make sure we represent everyone who feels like they've been left out of mainstream gamer culture, and so the more common name for the convention will be "GX".

We're still working on further details such as events schedule and a guest list, but we can definitely say we've confirmed guests Zach Weinersmith (Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal) AND Ellen McLain and John Patrick Lowrie (GLaDOS/Sniper voice actors and all-around sweethearts we call our Con Parents).

SPECIAL THANKS!!!!
We'd like to give a very special thanks to Devolver Digital, Dim Bulb Games, Bertil Hörberg, Coffee Stain Studios, Mike Bithell, Tinsley PR, Maxistentialism, Asher Vollmer, Trion Worlds, Louis Stavrides, The Fulbright Company, Wow, Such Business, and Love Conquers all Games for offering to sponsor OR pledging at least $3,000. (Won't you consider joining them, company looking at this page?)
Additionally, Blizzard Entertainment, Sympathy Plan, and MailChimp has committed over $10,000! (WOW!)
Even further, Hornet has graciously donated free ad space on their app, so if you've ever been curious which dating app supports gaymers...
^^^ These companies are amazing :) SUPPORT THEM!

!!! GET YOUR TICKETS BY DOING THIS !!!
To buy tickets now for GX3 (to be held in the Bay Area, California, in November/December 2015), add $60 to your pledge for every ticket you'd like to purchase.
Each ticket is an all-access pass to all days of the convention. After 2014, tickets will be $70 plus Eventbrite fees, so getting your tickets now saves over ten bucks per person!!

Also, there won't be VIP or Donor Tickets, but there will be vip party, breakfast, lunch, and dinner tickets available on Eventbrite later on for purchase :)
CANT MAKE IT BUT WANT TO DONATE A TICKET? you can still pay +$60 and we'll work with either Maven, Geeks Out and/or another accredited 501c3 that we've worked with in the past that supports queer geeks and make sure it gets in the right hands. You'll just need to choose "no code, just donate it" when you get your survey!
Just add the amount of tickets you'd like to order, $60 for each code you'd like, and we'll send you codes for the tickets on Eventbrite once the campaign is over!
roar voice: >>KEEP IN MIND THAT GX3 IS 18+, A QUEER FRIENDLY SPACE AND TICKETS AREN'T REFUNDABLE<<

COSTS & BUDGETING
We're anticipating a total cost of $159,500 - we're asking for $80,000 (51%) as we're hoping/expecting that the final $79,500 can be made up through sponsorship and additional ticket sales if this Kickstarter succeeds. Keep in mind that until we hit at least $157,501 total, that no one on the team is budgeted any salary and we do this as a labor of love.
Other costs not reflected on this graph include Boss of Honor booking fees/hotel rooms, stuff like legal costs if things happen between now and GX3 (and as history has shown, they sometimes will), storage unit costs, and other smaller convention costs that add up.

REAL TALK
Our first year, we didn't really know what we were doing and had to try to figure it out on the fly. Because of this, we hit a lot of unexpected roadblocks, expenses, and last minutes issues. With GaymerX2, we had a plan and knew what we wanted to do, but went with a venue that was extremely costly and overestimated attendance.
By doing this Kickstarter first before we sign any contracts, we can make sure we produce GX3 within our means on a sustainable level. We're also doing the event in the late part of the year, when it's off peak for the Bay Area and room rates are far lower.
IN CLOSING
Want to help? Please send a CV and thoughts and time restraints to gaymerX@midboss.com - depending on your role, we may be able to help with expenses!
Thank for reading, and know that your generous contribution will help queer dialogues and otherwise overlooked discussions in gaming continue through 2015!

First up, we have GXTalks, Season 2!
Last year we took all the panels from GaymerX and put them up online and we want to do it again! We're really excited to be able to share all the panels from GaymerX2 to the entire world for free on YouTube.
Here's an example of a cool panel from last year!

$100,000
We think it is SUPER important to create more games that talk about issues that don't normally get covered in games, so we want to throw our very first ever GAME JAM.
If we hit $100,000 - we will unleash GXdev, a weekend game jam (that people outside of the city can also participate in online) where we'll jam together, play each other's games, and show the world that we don't need to wait on AAA devs to make the games we want to see!
Tickets will be $25 or less!
$125,000
Session #2 of GXdev - two sessions in case someone can't make the first day. Of course everyone can come to both! :D

--I DON'T WANT REWARDS, CAN I JUST BUY A TICKET?--
Yes, you can. Just give $60 (multiplied by number of tickets), don't select any rewards, and then choose how many tickets you want. For instance, if you want two tickets, give $120, don't choose a reward level, and done!
You won't get any of our cool stuff, but we will look forward to seeing you at GX3!
Risks and challenges
We have run GaymerX1 and GaymerX2 and have delivered on the conventions and promises, even when we ended up losing money, which gives us confidence we can continue to make great conventions. Our goal this time is to be financially sustainable, working within our means, and to be able to make this convention pay for itself.
