We are launching this kickstarter campaign to help us with the creation and production of the second volume of our graphic novel series; Far Out.
Originally, our cowbot aesthetic was only a cool concept created by Olivier for apparel and prints, but the more we showed the art to people, the more we were asked for an actual comic series!
So we created the weekly webcomic Far Out, which tells the story of a newly arrived robot amidst this funny and weird robotic western civilization. Although our series is packed with action, we're also careful about building a coherent universe around our cowbot concept, always with great respect and admiration for Leone’s spaghetti westerns.
Two years after publishing our first webcomic page online, we now have our first 80 pages book printed, published by Studio Lounak. It is already available in bookstores, and the feedback we are getting from readers is great. So great that only a month after our first print run, we might already have to go to reprint!
Since 2012, we could only work part time on this project, creating one page of art per week. Being comic book readers ourselves, we know how frustrating the wait for an upcoming issue or trade can be, that's why we want to release Far Out vol.02 as fast as possible! In order to do that, however, we need time, and that’s where you guys can help.
What will we do with the money?
We will use most of the money to free our schedule and work on the project on a more regular basis, but still, a third of our budget will go towards incentives production.
- 14% of the budget will go towards incentives
- 63% will go towards art creation
- 13% will go towards writing
- 10% will go to Kickstarter and fees
Can I see what you have done so far?
Off course you can! And we will be publishing a new page of the second volume regularly from now on! You can follow the story at :

Risks and challenges
Having been around the comic book and crowd funding world for a while, we know how complex the creation and shipping of incentives to every backers can be. That's why we teamed up with Studio Lounak to help us manage this aspect of our campaign and make sure our incentives and books get into our backers hands on time, and in good shape.
Far Out vol.02's new pages will be published regularly (normally Wednesdays on KimiQ.com) starting now, so you will always be able to follow the production of the art and the evolution of our story, even when the campaign is over.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
