Thank You For Your Support

Greetings Kickstarters.

We have some news today. We are canceling the Wildman Kickstarter.

At this point, it makes sense for us to focus our attention on other ways to keep Gas Powered Games running. Unfortunately, we are unable to share any specifics in public. When we have news to share, we will be posting it on our site. If you want status updates, or if you want to continue discussing Wildman and/or this Kickstarter, please consider migrating over to forums.gaspowered.com.

We are profoundly grateful to those of you who backed this project and Gas Powered Games. Your passion and hard work put us in a position to write this exciting new chapter in the history of GPG.

      Live long and prosper.

Hope to see you again soon, alive and kicking, maybe on kickstarter or maybe not.

Good to see you have opportunities!

It's a shame the KS campaign wasn't going as well as hoped, GPG is a great studio and Wildman looks like an awesome game.

I am excited and hopeful that the next update is better news and that GPG is continuing forward!

    3. Jordan York on February 11, 2013

It's sad to hear that you cancelled the project. I was still hoping for a last minute miracle, but maybe this is for the best. I hope Wildman can one day become a reality. Please keep us posted.

    4. Ade Putra on February 11, 2013

No doubt this is sad news for us all but it looks like you had to consider realities and make another tough decision. All the best to you and the GPG team! Hopefully you'll update the world with some good news soon.

I'll keep watching for what GPG does next. Good luck to all of you!

Sad for us for now, but ALL the best to you Chris and all guys at GPG. Thank you for bringing great entertainment to so many people for so many years. We all sometimes forget how much time we spent with computer games and what important portion of your lifetime we have experiences that were created by the passion, the hard work and the ingenuity of game designers and passionate game makers like the folks at GPG or many other studios that had to struggle through tough times.

I wish to all you of, that you get through this and come out stronger and in a better position somehow to make great games!

      Thanks again!

    7. Meteor on February 11, 2013

Well I just got the news, I am sad to see the kickstarter closed, but I know Chris/GPG must have something really good going for this to happen. I hope Wildman does one day get made. Please keep me in the loop as well, I very much want to be part of whatever Chris and GPG do next. I love all of you and wish you well! Whatever game you guys decide to make next, I want to be part of.

Thanks for the the wild ride(pun intended) and I will stay tuned.

    8. Petr Vojtěch on February 11, 2013

I wish you good luck then.

    9. Michael Isbitski on February 11, 2013

@Brian Srivastava That was what I gathered as well. Not sure why everyone is getting so upset...I'm sure we'll see the game. A publisher may invest more than KS supporters could put up. Is the first time a KS project has been canceled?

I am really sorry to hear this. I do hope you succeed and do release this game and survive. Come back to KS some time.

      Good luck in the future.

Normally. I would say I'm pretty sad this project didn't succeed because I really enjoy the games from CT and Co. at GPG, and even though I'm actually sad, after watching the final video update, I am optimistic about GPG's future.

Chris didn't sound that sad. He actually seemed to be excited about the near future, and I'd bet he might have landed some kind of deal with someone already so hopefully this won't be the end of Wildman and future GPG projects.

Good luck guys and looking forward to hearing some exciting news at GPG real soon !

@William C Crawford That is true, but at the same time, small companies need to pick the fights they can win and not expend energy on the ones they can't

Sounds like they have a potential publisher who wants to own the IP and a kickstarter would hamper that. If it keeps people employed and gets the game made, that seems reasonable, especially because a publisher might be able to cough up a lot more than the 1.1M GPG was asking for.

It's not really unexpected, and while I'm disappointed, if GPG are going to be keeping the doors open that that's great!

Looking forward to future news on this, whether it means that Wildman, Kings and Castles or a spiritual successor to SC will be coming our way, I'll be excited about it :)

    17. Adam Sherman on February 11, 2013

I hope it works out, this game looked great and I was looking forward to it.

    18. Kevin B. on February 11, 2013

Sad to see this. I hope you guys'll bounce back from this!

Honestly I was pledging more for the hope to keep GPG in business than from a real desire to play Wildman. This type of game doesn't really appeal to me that much, but there aren't enough quality independant studios left in the business.

Looking forward to hearing about your next project. Best of luck!

Sorry to see this project being cancelled, sad news.
      Good luck Chris.

    20. Are Nybakk on February 11, 2013

      What a complete fad.

    21. William C Crawford on February 11, 2013

You should have let it run. Miracles happen, and people prefer a company that fights for what they believe in, not one that quits when the going gets rough. It was absolutely a mistake to hit the 'cancel' button. You could have done whatever you were going to do while continuing the campaign.

    22. Blackstaff on February 11, 2013

      Tough luck =__=

I'm gutted that this didn't go all the way through KS. I'm absolutely convinced that this is the best way to make games : with and for your fans. In fact, I now buy only kickstarted game. Even if your next project will certainly be my only exception. :) I so hope that you will be someday in a position to make an awesome and successful kickstarter with all of us.

That's maybe just me, but I think that, more than the presentation, the pitch or whatever explanations we will read everywhere on the internet on why it failed, I think that the major part was the nature of the project. KS users love niche project and niche genre. This is the best place for rallying fans on something that won't born from any other way of funding. Intelligent, mature and anticipated games. The classic and common ARPG aspects of the game was his doomfall for me. It would have been maybe easier to find 3 M$ for Kings and Castles, a rare breed of original RTS, than 1.1 M for Wildman on kickstarter.

sorry this didn't work out..... i wish you the best

    24. Timothy Lose on February 11, 2013

There is always a huge rush of backers for these projects at the very end of the campaigns for various reasons, they should have stuck it out to the end. Oh well.

    33. Nathaniel O'Neill on February 11, 2013

It's sad to see, but I'm glad you guys are exploring other options. I would've been really sad to see GPG disappear.

Good luck, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for "great news!" :D

    34. Juan Miguel Expósito on February 11, 2013

This is sad, but not unexpected... Which is also sad. I think all of us backers wish you the very best, Chris and GPG, and we're all sad to have come to this conclusion. Please do know that a lot of us actually care and were glad to support you.

    35. Yourtime on February 11, 2013

WHY THE FUCK DID YOU DO THIS? Instead of canceling you could have let it run, why.. does it have a better image to cancel it? I mean you could have just do something else and see the result, I was so much hoping that you will get the push to the 1,1m.. with the 48h :(

    36. MemoryKill on February 11, 2013

Question is, what about project mercury too? will that ever see the light of day...hmmm, also hoping tbh

    37. Justin Palmer on February 11, 2013

Hey Chris, thanks for your honesty and integrity. To be honest, I pledged to back you and GPG. I think the Wildman idea wasn't strong enough. The very best of luck for you and when you do come back to us with something you'd like to get off the ground, then we'll be waiting. . .

I kept hoping and praying to see Wildman succeed, but sometimes good things don't work out, undeservingly so. Raising my glass to all you great folks at Gas Powered Games today, and looking forward to hear things turn for the better in the future!

    42. Joshua Dotson on February 11, 2013

sad you had to cancel, but I understand.

excited to hear what you have planned though, good luck :)

    43. Sam Warters on February 11, 2013

It's disappointing you had to cancel the Kickstarter, but I'm glad GPG will hopefully get some more long term and sustained funding. That being said, I REALLY hope this game still comes out. It was really an awesome looking concept.
