Thank You For Your Support

Greetings Kickstarters.

We have some news today. We are canceling the Wildman Kickstarter.

At this point, it makes sense for us to focus our attention on other ways to keep Gas Powered Games running. Unfortunately, we are unable to share any specifics in public. When we have news to share, we will be posting it on our site. If you want status updates, or if you want to continue discussing Wildman and/or this Kickstarter, please consider migrating over to forums.gaspowered.com.

We are profoundly grateful to those of you who backed this project and Gas Powered Games. Your passion and hard work put us in a position to write this exciting new chapter in the history of GPG.

Congratulations on keeping things going. Here's to hoping that wargaming gets what they need and that Gas Powered Games still gets to do some soloing.

    2. Creator Bryy Miller on February 14, 2013

      So. Wargaming.

      I assume this means SC3.

      :P

    3. Creator James Fitzwater on February 13, 2013

I can't wait to see what Gas Powered Games does next. Best of luck guys!

    4. Creator Gareth on February 13, 2013

I'm hoping that when you say "we are unable to share any specifics," that means that you've started working on a game for/with someone and that you'll continue to be around.

    5. Creator Murrell on February 12, 2013

I REALLY hope that there is some sort of other funding this game can receive. Maybe talk to the Ouya folks as an exclusive release for their system for some support, or Wii U (which is a system in desperate need for exclusive rights releases that don't blow goats and this game could really utilize the game pad).

I pledge at a high level late and wish that maybe I could have gotten in earlier to inspire others. It seems like once these projects hit the one week mark, if they aren't well on their way(like 50% or closer), many folks run scared.

We need more innovative games out there on the market and not rehashed crap like the Call of Dutys, any number of sports games, and WoW clones.

    6. Creator Michel Thater on February 12, 2013

I am sad that it this happened. During the past weeks I became really exited about this project and would have loved to play the game (and have another one of those exellent soundtracks from Jeremy with my boxed collector's edition). I would love to see this, somehow, be finnished. But whatever you do, you great people from gpg, I will support you. You know how to make cool stuff! I hope that gpg's future is bright!

    7. Creator Geert Vertommen on February 12, 2013

Will keep supporting you Chris! Wish you goodluck in the comming weeks and months! Still looking forward what you and your team will bring.

    8. Creator Kirk Chen on February 12, 2013

looking forward to seeing what you guys put out next. i was really digging the progress on this and enjoyed meeting the team. you guys seem pretty cool as well as talented, and i look forward to checking out what you guys tackle next!

    9. Creator a2k on February 12, 2013

Good luck GPG. I do hope you have good news down the track :)

    10. Creator Harry Torque on February 12, 2013

@NotDomo I agree it is perfectly possible to catch up in last two days, although I consider 50/50 chance a bit optimistic.

But we have to remember that KS doesn't work in a vacuum. GPG started the year with two really rough news, and failing at KS would have been another PR disaster. GPG decided to pull the KS project before media rips them to pieces for failing KS, which would make securing funding for any kind of future project even harder from any source. Now GPG can go to publishers saying "look, we had 500k funding for this project already; we have an audience. Here's what we have planned...".

They picked the more likely and less painful option. They did the right decision.

    11. Creator Tim Foster on February 12, 2013

Hey Chris - really sad to see that Wildman has been cancelled! I hope you and Gas Powered Games see the great response this Kickstarter has received, and use it to plan your future projects accordingly.

I still have most of your previous games installed on my PC and was so looking forward to playing another excellent title from one of the gaming industry's greats! I hope you're able to resolve the background issues you currently have in quick order and come back for another go!

      All the best,

      Tim.

    12. Creator Neikius on February 12, 2013

@NotDomo: Exactly my sentiment. I guess they were shooting a bit higher than just the goal eh? That is the only reason to cancel as far as I see it. Since its automatically canceled if you don't reach the goal ...

    13. Creator Darren Taylor on February 12, 2013

good luck guys, best wishes for future. hope to see an updates some time soon.

    14. Creator Schro on February 12, 2013

Guys, no matter what happens to GPG, you'll always have a special place in my heart and I'll never forget you for your great games!

    15. Creator Seth McNitt on February 12, 2013

Best of luck guys. Hope to see Wildman at some point, but more so hope Gas Powered keeps afloat.

    16. Creator Riggo - Bards of Skara Brae $4.99 on February 11, 2013

Sad to see this Chris... Really liked the idea for this game. Go get 'em and bring us this game!!!

    17. Creator Roberto Zaragoza Gascón on February 11, 2013

Sad to see this. But also, awesome that it seems GPG has new things in the horizon. Hope we do get Wildman down the road, I want to transform into a bear and body slam my foes. Into a dino a crunch em between my teeth. Into a wolf and... well, you get the idea.
Best of luck for everyone at GPG, don't forget about us, your backers. We stand behind you all the way, guys.

    18. Creator NukeStormMachine on February 11, 2013

TEAR THEM A NEW ONE CHRIS!

    19. Creator Kevin Schantz on February 11, 2013

Can't wait for what is next for GPG. Best of luck to you! And keep us posted. ;)

    20. Creator NotDomo on February 11, 2013

So, personally, I thought it was unlikely for you to reach your goal, but as a Kickstarter funding veteran, I think it was pretty stupid to cancel. Stranger things have happened than getting that last 500k in the last 2 days. It was about 50/50 for you to make it at this point.

      1a. Consider this graph: http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/poots/kingdom-death-monster/
I know it's not 100% applicable, 'cause it's a miniature board game with stretch goals, etc., but that graph's still possible.
1b. I was pretty sure GODUS wouldn't do it, just like you, but they just managed in the last couple of days. You'd be super-surprised at what fans pull off in the last 2-3 days.

      2. You trusted the fans and continued the Kickstarter even though the numbers looked sketchy. You also should've trusted the 30% rule. 90% of all Kickstarters that reach 30% of funding by the halfway mark make it. That 500k in the last 2 days? Totally possible according to the stats.

    21. Creator Bbear on February 11, 2013

I'm not sure if this is a moment for celebration, but I wish CT and the team well. I'll be thrilled to see an update on Wildman or some other GPG game/IP in the coming months.

I'm a little saddened to see the KS close, but that's for selfish reasons (I had an awesome preorder deal with a soundtrack from Jeremy Soule and collector's edition stuff and extra copies of the game!)

Good night and good luck, Wildman.

    22. Creator Manalishi on February 11, 2013

Nooo... I was really hoping to get my hands on that toolset ... :(

    23. Creator Mihir-Pirate King of the Obsidian Order on February 11, 2013

Best of luck guys! May you succeed in your endeavors :D

    24. Creator Wholly on February 11, 2013

Good luck to everyone. We hope to hear any news, good or bad, as soon as prudent.

We'll miss your updates though, it was kinda like getting personal messages from Willy Wonka showing off all his wonderful inventions (even though we know the Oompa Lpompas do all the real work.)

I can't wait until we get to see them again, but I wouldn't be unhappy to get another Wonka Bar.

    25. Creator Super Jenius on February 11, 2013

Chris, so glad that there is a (good?) chance you will be able to keep GPG alive. While you won't be taking my money (yet), if my pledge helped make that a possibility, then it was worthwhile.

    26. Creator Rob Roy on February 11, 2013

Best wishes to everyone at GPG.

    27. Creator Corhen on February 11, 2013

saddened, but not unexpected... Chris, Keep after your dreams, and make more games you love.

    28. Creator fredgiblet on February 11, 2013

I wish I could say this was unexpected. Good luck, I'll be listening when you have more to share.

    29. Creator Sean Jordan on February 11, 2013

      Chris and crew,

While I am extremely sad to see the Kickstarter campaign ending so close to the deadline, I admire your tenacity to keep on going. You guys deserve whatever great things are coming, and I hope that the pained expression on your face during the update isn't just you putting a happy face on a worsening situation. The LAST thing that any of us fans want to see is GPG heading over to yet another money master that leaves you high and dry down the road.

Can I suggest that no matter which avenue you take, that you should still re-open your next concept to crowdfunding in part or in full? Raising 500,000 after all the turmoil and drama that's hit you guys is still really remarkable, and whether your next concept becomes a F2P model with a pay tier or a traditional game, you could probably get a lot of us backers onboard as beta testers and "social media street team" members to help promote the product in exchange for allowing us to also be financial supporters! I know that sounds counter-intuitive, but the reality of crowdfunding is that fans want to pay their way in to seeing the projects get completely and are more than willing to pick up the slack on marketing and PR in exchange for getting to play the game early / offer input / earn some exclusive perks.

You guys have always been great to your fan communities; let us be great back to you! It's no longer necessary to develop a game in a tower somewhere and then release it to the masses for a $50-60 price tag. That model is dying, and being replaced with something so much more exciting.

    30. Creator Firestorm on February 11, 2013

So sad to hear it confirmed. I've been very excited about this game, and dearly wish to see it come to life someday. I hope and pray for all the best for the fine people at Gas Powered Games in the coming weeks.

    31. Creator Daniel McMinn on February 11, 2013

It's sad to see the Kickstarter being cancelled, but I'm not that surprised. As I said when you asked us whether you should continue the campaign, I'd liked to have seen this succeed, but your company staying alive is more important. Now I'm really curious about the coming weeks... Can you send out updates even though the campaign's been cancelled?

    32. Creator Bryy Miller on February 11, 2013

I'll be honest, I was entirely concerned that this campaign was your only avenue, Chris.

    33. Creator Krohmsixneuf on February 11, 2013

Sorry to see it end this way, too bad :(
Hope Wildman's gonna be able to see the light of day some other way !
      Good luck GPG.

    34. Creator Jalister - OOoE / WoOS / SoSR on February 11, 2013

I'm sad to see the project end, but I'm glad there me be light at the end of the tunnel for GPG. I was expecting this over the last few days, not in a bad way though. I had a gut feeling something else might come up that wouldn't fit if the Kickstarter did get funded. Good luck GPG! I'll watch out for that news.

    35. Creator David Silva on February 11, 2013

good luck chris hope all goes well

    36. Creator PaulloDEC on February 11, 2013

Sad to see the Kickstarter close down, but great to hear that things are otherwise looking up for GPG. Best of luck with whatever it is you're working on.

    37. Creator gi_ty on February 11, 2013

Depressing news I was really looking forward to this. Good luck to GPG in any future en devours, you will have my support in anything you choose to do in the future. Thanks to all of you for some great games and good memories.

    38. Creator AKASlaphappy on February 11, 2013

Best of luck in your next adventure GPG, I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us.

    39. Creator Christian Edwards on February 11, 2013

      But... but... take my money?

    40. Creator Chris Allen on February 11, 2013

I'm disappointed this one didn't make it but I still have great respect for GPG and I wish them well with their aspirations in the future. I will follow your progress with great interest.

    41. Creator Gabriel Berube on February 11, 2013

Good luck to you guys. I hope you can get this game done and keep making great games at GPG! I really would've loved playing Wildman (as a lot of others have stated here) so if you ever make this game happen, please let us know, I'll be first in line to get a copy!

    42. Creator KevinP on February 11, 2013

Best of luck to all at GPG.

    43. Creator Oliver Plunkett on February 11, 2013

Best of luck! I wish all of you at GPG the best. You can count on my support for any future endeavours!

    44. Creator Eric Shields on February 11, 2013

I sincerely hope you guys find a way. GPG have put out some of my favorite games ever, in Dungeon Siege and (in a way) Total Annihilation. Of course, it's never cool to see a studio in hard times, but I'm rooting for you more than usual :)

Great to see all the community support, that's something big publishers will *never* have!

    45. Creator Harry Torque on February 11, 2013

I really thought this kind of niche game would be a perfect fit for KS - there might some KS fatigue going on, with a few big game projects which wrapped up recently.

Good fortune in whatever you decide to do next!

    46. Creator Saodhar on February 11, 2013

Too bad. I'd really love to play this game. Anyway - good luck! Live long and prosper. :)

    47. Creator Paul Ferguson on February 11, 2013

I kind of expected this given the progress, but don't give up! You clearly have amazing products yet to create. As much stupid crap as gets funded these days, find a business model that works, and you can make it happen. Still hoping to see Wildman come to life someday!

    48. Creator thenthomwaslike on February 11, 2013

Sorry about the cancelation, I'm sure you guys put in a ton of work to get to this point and this game looks great, I'm hoping one day to play it

    49. Creator Nathan Dafoe on February 11, 2013

Good luck and whatever happens thank you for all that you have given us in the past!

    50. Creator Hannes De Blauwe on February 11, 2013

Good luck Chris and all of GPG. Can't wait to hear good news soon.
