UPDATE 2/22/13: With 6 days left in the campaign, we have met our goal. With your help and God's blessing, Chasing David will be a reality. If you are considering still giving, please know that any funds above and beyond our stated goal will go toward the two videos we plan to shoot that I can't talk about yet. But you didn't hear that from me...
Chasing David is no stranger to the stage. No stranger to the studio. Most importantly, no stranger to ministry. With over 25 years combined ministry in the contemporary Christian group Acappella, the time has come to once again pick up the mantle.
Duane Adams, Gary Moyers and Kevin Schaffer are the founding members of the new Christian group Chasing David. Utilizing their experience in sterling vocals and their musical abilities on various instruments, Chasing David presents a new sound that is sure to please fans of Acappella, Casting Crowns, Phillips Craig & Dean and more.
These three gentlemen are responsible for a large portion of the songs that have been released by the Acappella Company, either through writing or arranging. All three have felt a strong pull to return to the studio and/or stage to continue sharing the gift that God has given them.
Each of the members of Chasing David are worship ministers in their respective churches, Gary in Lubbock, and Duane and Kevin in Amarillo. The desire to use their talents in the service of God has not diminished since their time with Acappella.
While they are best known for their vocal abilities and a capella music, Chasing David will also feature their instrumental abilities. Kevin is an accomplished pianist, while Duane and Gary play various different stringed instruments. All of this will come together in their first album, which will feature both a capella and accompanied original songs and cover tunes.
Risks and challenges
From Gary: "Our biggest challenge will probably be time. All three of us are working in our regular, every day jobs. Above all else, our families must take priority. This was our biggest concern in deciding to do this, as our initial approach was to produce and record this album on our own."
"We also thought that if we are gonna do this, we should do it right. With all these considerations, we decided to enlist the help of Studio 84 in Lubbock, TX. Wally Moyers (my cousin) is one of the best producers I've ever seen, and he has agreed to jump in and produce this album for us. He will also enlist a host of excellent players, which will relieve us from the need to play every instrument on the album. I'm grinning right now, can you tell?"
The goal set for this Kickstarter campaign reflects the money needed to hire a producer and musicians, pay for studio time, song licensing and manufacturing and cover shipping costs. No money will be distributed to the group itself.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
