New Name, Same Game! see update
Fully Funded! On to Stretch Goals!
We are raising funds to create an original tabletop role playing game in a 7x10 softback book, 120 pages long, with full-color illustrations by four talented female illustrators.
This book will contain all the rules and background information needed to play the game, as well as lots of guidance and advice on how to run a successful campaign.

Read on to learn more about the Wyrdwood!
We have created our own, original system for use in WyrdScouts. It is narrative-focused and uses ten-sided dice for all mechanical resolutions. (See more about the mechanics and rules in the free preview PDF.)
The Wyrdwood (pronounced "weird wood") is a strange and magical place, an enchanted forest as old as time itself. Infinite and ever-changing, the Wyrdwood is accessible via any wooded area in the modern world, though usually not by accident.
New Wyrdscouts have spent their entire life up till now among their human families, but they are all descended from various Fae of the Wood as well. The magic in their blood has been passed down from generation to generation and grants them special faerie abilities.
The dryads of the Oak King’s court wage a never-ending war with the shaggy, sun-averse trolls, and there are whispers of a spider queen who lives deep in the dark and weaves nightmares for the world. Ogres, twelve feet tall but as dumb as rocks, are a common trouble and rumors abound of a witch gone bad.
Stretch goals, including improvements to the physical book and expansion content, will be given to all backers once we reach the levels shown below!
We funded within 48 hours, which means that the first stretch goal of a FREE Intro Adventure for all backers has already been unlocked. What can we unlock next?
Shipping costs are NOT being collected during this Kickstarter. Actual shipping charges (with the exception of International rewards) will be collected at a later date, via PayPal invoices, once everything is ready to ship. We do this because otherwise Kickstarter takes a cut of the shipping charges, and thus we would have to charge our backers more than shipping should actually cost.
The expected costs are noted below.
- Books Only = $5 via Media Mail
- Books + Anything Else (such as dice) = $9 via USPS
Unfortunately, shipping from the USA to anywhere else in the world (even Canada) is crazy expensive. We aren't big enough (nor are we doing a large enough print run) to have shipping hubs in various countries. Instead we have teamed up with DriveThruRPG to handle the printing and shipping of books outside the United States.
Your International Pledge will give you the pdf of the book and a code to be used on DriveThruRPG to order the actual physical book, once the files are finished in early 2020. To order the book, you must then pay the actual printing costs of the book (currently about $8) and the actual shipping costs (determined by your destination), to DriveThruRPG when you redeem your code.
This method should bring your total pledge cost (including shipping) to roughly the same as United States backers for most countries. However, VAT may be charged locally upon arrival and is not included in the pledge.
We do not know how Brexit will affect international printing and shipping costs. DriveThruRPG has at least one printer in the UK, so those backers should be unaffected.
At this time we are unable to ship the custom dice, or any other rewards besides the books, to international backers at anything close to a reasonable cost. International books will not be signed.
Robert has published numerous traditional books and five previous games. Each of the artists involved has an impressive portfolio and considerable professional experience. The editor (Keith Garrett, not shown) is established in the gaming industry as both a great editor and an author in his own right.

Risks and challenges
NOTHING for this project is made in China and the tariffs will NOT affect us.
Every successful project we have run has delivered on-time or even early. That said, even though we have been working with this team for over a year now, delays are possible. It takes time to do good art, get everything laid out, and to complete the editing.
This will also be the first time working with this particular paperback printer (we usually work with another printer for hardbacks), but they do come highly recommended by other small game publishers.
Of course, any unlocked stretch goals may also bump the timeline down a bit.
Regardless of any issues that arise, we will strive to communicate clear expectations to all backers in a once a month update. (Or more frequently if something major happens.) We also guarantee that the rewards will be shipped (including retail backers) BEFORE any books are made available through regular distribution channels.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
