Gandersnitch the Goblin has written a book!
Clearly, a book has been written. That much should be understood by now. But what is the book? What is it about? Who is it for?
"The Completely Inappropriate Tales of Gandersnitch the Goblin" is a collection of comedic, irreverent, entertaining, and touching short stories told by Gandersnitch himself regarding his life, banishment, and misadventures. It is approximately forty thousand words long, which is on par with most short story collections solicited by a traditional publisher. It will be professionally edited and have cover art and interior illustrations (headers for each story) created by a professional artist.
It is not, however, a children's book. There are bad words in it on occasion, there is candid (but not graphic) talk about sex, and there are unsavory activities such as theft, kidnapping, murder, revelries, and poetry contained within. It is a book by a goblin about goblin things. It is sometimes dark, often snarky, and slightly depraved.
However, writing a book is not enough. It needs to be edited, and illustrated, and ultimately printed and recorded. Self publishing a quality product takes capital. And that is where you come in.

$22 pledge - The Digital Only Level - Maybe you live in a tiny apartment. Maybe you are afraid that the folks from 1984 will come and burn your book. Whatever - you only want the digital, but you want all the digital you can get. We can do that too! At this level you will receive an email with digital copies of the ebook and the audio book (or a link to download it as the size may preclude email attachments), as well as the background wallpaper. You will also get the thank you mention. (Note: There is no physical stuff with this reward.)
$25 pledge - The Physical Book - You will receive a signed copy of the physical softbound book, "The Completely Inappropriate Tales of Gandersnitch the Goblin" featuring 8 short stories about the life and adventures of Gandersnitch the Goblin as told by him. (The ebook, background wallpaper, and thank you mention)
$40 pledge - The Sultry Sounds of My Voice - When I read some of my stories around a fire while camping in the woods this spring with other performers, I kept them spellbound for an hour. Then I was tired and needed to rest my voice. Which gave them a chance to speak, and they said: We can't buy this book, unless you come over to read it to us! (I dunno, maybe they are illiterate. I don't judge.) And thus the idea of an audio book was born. This level includes the audio book (on cd), the signed physical book, and the autographed poster as well as the email with ebook and wallpaper, and the thank you mention.
$70 pledge - The Sharing Package - You get two copies of all the physical stuff in the $40 pledge, and one copy of all the digital stuff. That means two books, two audio book cds, two wanted posters, and one ebook, one background (but you can totally share both of these with your friend), and a single thank you mention (after all, you are being the generous one, we want to put your name in the book!)
$100 pledge (limit of 25 rewards) - The "Thumb" Drive - This is where the really funky stuff starts! At this level you get a limited edition, hand sculpted, Goblin 'Thumb' drive with digital copies of the ebook and audio book and background wallpaper. Yes, that is a thumb drive. As in, a sculpted Thumb with a 32G usb drive inside it :) You will also receive a signed copy of the physical book, the wanted poster, and the thank you mention.
$225 pledge (limit of 10) - Gandersnitch the Doll - Of course, you get the book at this level, and the physical CD, and the poster - but the really important thing is that you get a limited edition, handmade, Goblin Road stuffed doll based on Gandersnitch the Goblin. You will also receive the ebook, wallpaper, and thank you mention. But you don't care about that - you want the doll!
$350 pledge (limit of 5) - Gandersnitch Cosplay Starter Set - One of the coolest/scariest things that has developed in my time as a public character has to be the emergence of Gandersnitch cosplayers. This pledge level includes everything you need to get you started on your costume and join the snazziest secret society around, all based on the actual clothes and makeup Gandersnitch wears. Including a pocketed apron, fancy vest, goblin tail, copper makeup, leather goblin ears, and neoprene nose (easy to wear - no glue required). You also get the book, cd, poster, ebook, wallpaper, and thank you mention. And if we ever cross paths in person, I will teach you the secret handshake!
$3,976 pledge (limit of 2) - Goblonian Cultural Attache - You want to fund the whole project? Wow, thank you! You rock! And to show our gratitude for such an insane gesture of support, you get to party with Gandersnitch and are blessed with the lifelong title of "Goblonian Cultural Attache". I will travel to anywhere in the continental US, and spend the day in character with you and your friends, perform like a trained goblin for your enjoyment, ridicule the guests/relatives you felt obligated to invite, read the book to you if you like, teach you how to put on goblin makeup, or whatever you want really (except illicit or illegal activities). I will also bring 10 copies of the book, cd, and poster for you to keep or give to your friends. And you will get the ebook and wallpaper via email, and a super special thank you mention in the front of the book under the "Acknowledgements" section.

Risks and challenges
The basic product is done - the book is written, beta read, and proofed. The editor and artists are lined up, and aware and committed to the schedule. We have tried to mitigate the biggest issue we have seen in kickstarters, that of ballooning shipping costs, by assigning a realistic value on what it will take to actually ship packages across the country and oversees based on our years of experience shipping orders to customers.
So what are the most likely possible challenges? Delays in printing, delays in editing and art, slower than expected audio book recording and editing, and bogging down in shipping once everything is done and ready to go out.
How do we plan to address these? By staying in contact with backers, updating folks frequently on the expectations and any changes in schedules that arise, and being open and honest about progress and delays. We are also not scheduling any shows or appearances in December of 2014, so that we are able to swiftly and steadily deal with shipping once it is here and ready to go. At heart and by profession we are theatre people, and thus we are used to adapting to situations and finding solutions to keep on rolling. There might be delays, there might be unforeseen issues, but this book is going to happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
