Ancient Aliens, creators of Civilizations is a card driven civilization strategy game for 2 – 4 players, ages 12 and up. Playing time is 45 – 60 minutes, depending on number of players.

In Ancient Aliens players have their own unique alien race, with its own special power, and a deck of cards related to this specialty. They each get a continental area on Earth to influence. The game board and the player board display these influential areas as seen from the aliens’ control panels. 

  • During the game players activate cards to improve the humans, to build buildings and monuments, attack other players, defend against attacks or to aid other players. But most importantly, to gain most points and reach the civilization stage with the humans they control!  

    The first player to get all three of his tech tokens to the civilization stage triggers game end. Then points are counted and the player with the most points wins the game.

    • The whole game play of Ancient Aliens is through the activation of card actions.
    • Ancient Aliens is played in continuous turns. 
    • Choose a random starting player, then continue clockwise. 
    • During each players turn, players do two things
      1) Play out their cards and carry out their actions
      2) Clean up after the actions and draw new cards
    • The game ends immediately when any player places his 3rd Improvement token on the Civilization stage on the Improvement table. 
    •  Then points are counted and the player with the most points wins the game.

    THE MAIN BOARD

    The Ancient Aliens main board shows you the continental influential areas the players control during the game. The player boards are connected to the influential area. according to number of players.  If a continent does not have a player board attached to it, it cannot be used during the game.

    Each continental area of influence shows you a different building location. When a building is built, it must have an available building slot of the right building type to be able to be built.  Your buildings spread out from the Start slot.

    In the corners of the board, the building, item & monument tiles are placed on their corresponding squares. The crystals are stored in the centrum. All player interactions take place at the centrum. Cards are placed here, facing towards the player the action is aimed to affect (attack, defend or aid actions) so the player can clearly see the action.

    THE PLAYER BOARDS

    The player boards is where players manage their faction. Built buildings, items and monuments are stored here, as well as crystals. 

    The Improvement table is where players improve their humans to a civilized stage. The game ends immediately when any one players placed his 3rd improvement token to the civilized area at the end of the table. 

    During the game, the placement of the improvement tokens controls your card drafting. It also tells you if you have the right requirements to build a certain building, item or monument.

    At the bottom of the player board is the Production and Divine power bar. You must place your crystals on the crystal converter at the top or on your built buildings to gain production or divine powers from them, that are then moved up accordingly on the bar. Production and divine powers are needed to build buildings , items of monuments.

    THE IMPROVEMENT TABLE

    Everything evolves around the improvement table. Players start the game at level 0. There are 3 perks that need to be improved; 

    • Knowledge, what your humans know
    • Skill, what your humans can do
    • Loyalty, how much they believe in you.

    When Improve actions are used, players move the corresponding token to the next space to the right on the improvement table. Crossing a level threshold means that the player can from now on draw cards from a higher level deck and build higher level buildings, items and monuments.

    Levels also influence attack and defense actions (ex. a level 1 - Tech 1 defense action is useless against a level 2 - Tech 2 attack).

    THE CARD DECKS

     

    Each alien faction has its own unique deck of cards, depending on their ability.  

    There are 3 decks; Tech 1, Tech 2 and Tech 3. You start the game with cards from the Tech 1 deck and when any improvement token goes on the Level 2 column on the improvement table, you can draw from the Tech 2 deck and from the Tech 3 deck when a token is moved under the level 2 column.  All according to specific draft rules.

    During players turn. players have 5 cards in their hand to activate. From each card, you have to choose 1 action to activate (you have 5 actions to do during your turn).

    On each card, there are 3 different actions you can choose from;

    After the turn, all cards are discarded and a new set of cards is drawn all according to your improvement token status. It can be from the same or different Tech decks. Then it is the next players turn.

    Defense actions can always be used during any other players turns.

    BUILDINGS   

    There are 3 building types in the game; production, religious and residential. You start with no buildings, but as you activate the cards, you will be able to build them. Residential buildings give you crystals (that are activated to gain resources from the production and religious buildings), production buildings give you production and religious buildings give you divine powers.

    Buildings can only be built if you fulfill the requirements on the Improvement table and have available slots on the continental area you aim to build on.

    ITEMS AND MONUMENTS

    Items and monuments is the legacy that future human generations will gaze upon. So you want to build some and that is also where most points are gained from; through building items and monuments. 

    Items have less requirements, but monuments are connected to certain tech levels. You have to be in a certain tech level to be able to built them.

    They are placed randomly at setup and there is only one item or monument available of each type to build and all can see how many points it gives. So some monuments are more desirable than others.

    All items and monuments in Ancient Aliens are connected to various controversial theories about their origins. More information about them are listed in the game's Explanatory guide. 

    END GAME SCORING

    As soon as any player placed his 3rd improvement token on the civilized stage area on the improvement table, the game ends immedietly. The player that ended the game receives a 10 point bonus.

    Then each player counts his points:
    • 10 points for the game end trigger player (only him)
    • 3 points for each alien token on other player boards (gained though aid)
    • 1 point for each 3 crystal owned
    • Combined points for built buildings
    • Combined points for built items
    • Combined points for built monuments
    • Potential alien faction agenda points gained
    The player with the most points is declared the winner!

    ANNUNAKI

     The Anunnaki are blond haired giants that came to earth mostly because of gold. They use gold in their buildings and spaceships to perfect their conductivity.They have mastered sound waves and light and that enables them to use sound waves and light as a power source for mine work, building construction via levitation, and operating portals by using Hornstones to amplify the required high-frequency sound waves.

    They also power up Crystals to magnify light and use their light and sound techniques to manipulate human DNA. According to old legends, the Anunnaki drained most of South Africa’s gold resources. After they drained the gold mines, they disappeared and have not been seen since. Their home planed, Niburu, is said to be maneuverable and that it can be transferred between star systems through unknown means.

     BULUZI

     The Buluzi are a dark aggressive race that use fear as a main source of control over their human faction, often demanding human sacrifice. They have a reptile-looking face and a hard, scaly skin and are therefore often referred to as the Lizard people. They have superior knowledge of and control over plants and beings. With their herbal techniques they can soften the hardest rocks into clay in order to build complex structures.

    According to legends, the Buluzi or Reptilians as they are often refereed to, have had impact on many South American cultures. Some say that traces of their influence can be found all over the world. No one knows where they came from and when they left the planet, or if they even left Earth at all.
    There are believers that claim that they still roam among the humans, just waiting for the right sign to come out of their human like cocoons.

    THE GREY

     The Greys are peaceful explorers that travel through the Galaxy, aiding other species they run into. They use their powerful mind control, when they encounter. When they meet new species they feel are limited, they use their powerful mind control techniques to increase the species’ understanding and ability to use more complex things by growing and improving their brain cells. 

    The Greys home planet is unknown, but they have been frequent guest on Earth since the dawn of time. The Greys are peaceful in nature and they are self-claimed protectors of all species that they feel oppressed. They have healing powers that they use to heal the wounded and frequently use mind melt to give or gain knowledge from other species. 

     Of all alien races that have been to Earth, the Greys are the ones that have been seen most often. Their agenda is to keep anything in balance and at peace. If other Alien factions try to get ahead, they do their best to minimize the effect so they do not gain anything from it.

     NEPHILIM

     The Nephilim are tall, cone-headed leaders that have a superior ability to manipulate genetic changes through bionic implants. They use their laser technology to aid them in building vast temples and buildings. They manipulate the humans by changing their appearances into different animal-head creatures, thus gaining the humans’ complete devotion. Through out all of Earths civilizations, the Nephilim have used their abilities to implant thoughts, visions and sightings into specially chosen humans, according to legends. Those humans have then, in strong belief, spread their divine word through their fellow humans, resulting in new religions being born.

    The Nephilim home planet lies deep within the Orion belt, seen from Earth. They control portals that they can use to travel quickly between vast distances. As the Nephilim think of themselves as the true Supreme Being, they try to influence the species they are “helping” with extreme devotion towards themselves.

    We send the game worldwide! When the campaign ends and we have all unlocked stretch goals and additions, we will also know the final size and weight of the game. This will allow us to precisely determine the shipping costs. During the pledge management phase, we will then also charge for the freight, based on our location.

In short, the game is 99% finished!
Ancient Aliens - Creators of Civilization has been in development for a some time now. Since the first idea came, the game has developed dramatically as is usually the case with many great games. The game has been tested and played with a mixed group of people to get the simple yet strategic game play into good and smooth game experience.
We already have a manufacturer that is waiting for our final signal and financial obligation to mass manufacture the game.

Like with all projects, chances are that something will go wrong. The team behind Ancient Aliens - Creators of Civilization have many years of experience in creating, managing and launching projects so any issues that come along will be dealt with accordingly and solved.
