This campaign has been canceled. I believe we have learned all our lessons and we will relaunch in a couple of months. This time we will make it through! Sign up to receive an e-mail when the new campaign launches here: http://gametale.eu/kickstarter.html
The book is already translated in English and it is available as a free e-book as of right now (PDF, iPad 2+, Kindle Fire). You can download it from our website. The goal of this campaign is to fund a minimum print run of 1,000 luxury copies in English for those who wish to own one. The e-book (PDF) is also available in Russian, Italian and Latvian.
Note: This is not a pop-up book, it's simply an artistic representation of some of the locations and the characters in the trailer. You can look inside the actual book here.
This story begins years ago, all the way back in the ‘80s and the ‘90s, when I was growing up. If you were like me in those days, chances are you had a few Choose Your Own Adventure, Fighting Fantasy or Lone Wolf books. Gamebooks weren’t just a craze; for a generation of people they were a cultural phenomenon, part of a shared zeitgeist. Yet, somehow all of them were written for pre-teens and teens. And none for children aged 3 to 9.
I remember thinking to myself “This is crazy! Who are those who like to play the most? The little ones!” And this is how it all began…
Not only did I want to write a gamebook for an entirely new audience but I also wanted to make an entirely different type of book. It’s true that gamebooks were sometimes poorly written, and few could be said to tackle moral or philosophical questions. They were usually paperbacks with black-and-white illustrations. I wanted to improve on all that. And I did.
So let me introduce you to Gremmy, a little gremlin that I met on New Year's Eve about four and a half years ago.
He has little adventurous pawsies that don't get tired easily, a trembly-trembly tail, a nosy nosie and little earsies (which are actually quite big) that like to listen to songbirds' singsongs. His tummy is always hungry, but most important of all, he has a big heart! And the best part? You get to choose the adventures of Gremmy!
People ask me all the time why I decided this, and they’re right to. It's rather unusual for an author to release his books absolutely free, isn't it?
I believe it would be cruel if children weren't able to enjoy my books because their parents could not afford them, and children's authors should not be cruel. They should be gentle, caring and loving. The values we write about should not be just words on paper. We should be the living and breathing examples of those values, because what we write HAS to be true. Every good author will tell you that you cannot lie to your readers (or little listeners). They will catch you in a second. When you read a book, you can actually feel if the author is being honest about his or her inner self.
I DO believe that people are inherently good. If you have poured your heart into something, if you have tried your best, people will feel that and give you their unconditional support. There is no need to hide your work: people are not thieves! If you share, they will care, they will follow you, they will nag you about when your next book comes out, and yes, they will gladly support you because they will know that their children's favorite author actually believes in the values he’s writing about. The same things they believe in – friendship, love and freedom!
And that's how those books grew up to be TOO BIG for the small country and decided to go on a BIG adventure! So how does the story end? Well, this is a magical story and the ending is up to you!

Shortly after the release of the first book, many teachers, educators and psychologists started to notice my GameTale for its potential to engage the children and develop their personal and social skills. Those books have been recognized for their innovative interactive approach towards children and are considered an excellent tool for:
Developing a sense of freedom and personal responsibility
(through understanding the importance of our choices in the story)
Sparking children's imagination
(through developing a story in a non-linear fashion)
Nurturing love for the world, empathy and understanding
(through developing entirely positive books)
Developing positive adult-child interactions
(with greater value when an adult reads to (plays with) the child)
Working with children with special needs
(through fear management, teamwork and social engagement developed in the game)
Nurturing a love of reading and promoting child literacy
(gamebooks are excellent tool for "difficult" readers)

Risks and challenges
I have written 3 GameTales, published in a total of 12 editions so far. I have always done all the prepress myself and I have successfully worked with 3 printing houses so far. The prepress for the English edition is virtually completed and you can read the full book as a free download. The "Gremlin Games" cards, the pajamas, the books and everything else have been manufactured many times in my country and my numerous fans can attest to the quality of the products. Production risks are little to none.
International shipping from Bulgaria, however, is slow and expensive. I have already sent items to other countries and I am familiar with the procedure, so I have looked into these issues. Your shipment should be ready in September and it might travel for up to a month, so ETA is in October, as noted on the pledges. Expenses with the Bulgarian Post service might account for 40% of the price, that’s why it’s already included in your pledges and offered as free shipping.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
