In Misdirection, 2-8 players are pitted against each other in a fight for survival. With a global enemy in play, players don't directly attack each other but instead force other players to play cards they might not want to, resulting in backing them into a corner. You'll need to steal, sabotage, skip and trick your opponent to get ahead!

Misdirection was designed and developed for new-comers and veterans of the tabletop gaming scene that love a small-box theme. Play-tested by players of all ages; from as low as 7 to as old as 60, we've proudly developed a game that is quick to learn, full of laughs and a fun experience for all backgrounds.

We feel the game is ideal for travelling and as a gateway game, as well as a filler for games when you're waiting for other people to arrive to your game night or between games to break things up...

Key Features:

  • Easy to learn, teach and play.
  • Indirect player-interaction creating a unique game.
  • Varying unique global enemies, changing each game.
  • Big game, small box.

Small Box:

We're proud of the small box game we've created - we feel there is so much replay value in such a small box, making it ideal for travel. With a tiny learning curve, it's an easy game to get people that aren't into tabletop games to have a play!

Actual box design may vary from picture - the size will not change.

The duration of a game of Misdirection is based on how many players there are, that corresponds to how many life points players get each;

  • 2 Players = 6 life points
  • 3-4 Players = 5 life points
  • 5-8 Players = 4 life points

Players shuffle the enemy card deck, and randomly deal one face up in the middle of the table. This is the enemy for this round, read the enemy details carefully, each enemy plays differently and will force you to change your tactics!

The action card deck is shuffled and one card is placed in front of each player. The remaining cards are placed to the side of the enemy in play.

On each player's turn, they pick up a card, and chose one of their two cards in their hand to play. You cannot pass, all players must play one card - sometimes this will mean playing a card you don't want too.

As you play a card, you must read it out exactly as it's worded on the card and place it on the other side of the enemy in play, then you action it depending on what the card says.

When a player is reduced to no life cubes, they're dead and can't participate in the game any longer. The last surviving player wins the game.

Misdirection is filled with many different enemies all with different abilities. Each enemy will change the way you play your cards -- what you play against the Skeleton, might not be the same you play against the Brigand.

All enemies were brought to life by the amazingly talented Anthea Wright.

Skeleton

Not the smartest of enemies, but if you slip up, the Skeleton will certainly let you know with a swift whack with it's sword.

Skeleton Wizard

An unnatural being well versed in dark magic, the Skeleton Wizard is known for attacking not just it's target, but anything it can.

Assassin

The shadows move as the Assassin emerges into light. She's highly trained and deadly with her dagger. She will not hesitate to stab an unsuspecting enemy dealing incredible damage.

Brigand

A brute with only one goal, to make as much coin as possible. The brigand is a brute and can attack with great force, but you could use this to your advantage if you knew the language he spoke.

Evil Mage

Not your normal mage, this cunning spell-weaver uses her dark magic to turns the tables and adapt to any battle with great force.

Conjuror

This witch-doctor works with the foulest of ingredients to turn battles to their advantage with each attack.

Troll

Temperatures drop as this frost giant approaches. While not the strongest of attackers, he is slow and his attacks can be used to your advantage, if you know how.

Dragon

Flesh, blood and fire; a creature of immense power, with an extremely dangerous attack. You're not the only one in danger when the Dragon strikes. Sometimes it could be a benefit to take a hit yourself. Or two.

Goblin

This warmongering creature has little love for anything but it's own kind. Only tempted by bloodshed, he can't be bribed with shiny objects or be fooled by shifty tactics.

The Goblin is only available in the promo pack; free with all Kickstarter backers, purchasable at a later date.

Risks and challenges

Please note: We've done our best with the conversion rates, but please keep in mind, it may fluctuate through the campaign.

Misdirection as a game is complete and with artwork being majority completed, our main Risks and Challenges lie in adhering to our manufacturer's schedule and any shipping delays that may occur. We've set our deadline to complete everything and send it off to the manufacturer before the middle of May, they estimate late July to complete production. With that being said, please note that all artwork may be subject to change, including but not limited to card designs and box design and details.

For full transparency, we're proudly using Whatz Games based in China for our manufacturing. While we considered numerous publishers; the quality that Whatz Games has shown us along with their impressive product line, has ensured we're going to deliver a high-quality product for the lowest price possible to our customers.

To keep costs as low as we can, we'll be moving the completed product to a fulfillment center in China and shipping it to the world from there.

Please note that we do NOT ship to Brazil, Italy or Russia due to shipping inconsistencies and packages being lost or stolen. If you're from one of these countries, please contact a friend or family member in another country to pledge for you. Pledges from these countries will be refunded.

We investigated about using shipping hubs located in Australia, Europe and the United States, but that would mean we would have to add minimum of at least $10USD to each copy and for a game of this price-point, we didn't feel that people would be happy paying such a significant amount.
