SteamHammerVR - Virtual Reality Steampunk Experience
SteamHammerVR is a beautifully designed, steampunk-themed, story-based, smash 'em up Virtual Reality gaming experience.
Welcome to the Steampunk world of Victorian London, 1892.
First off we can announce that we have just been Greenlit on Steam Greenlight!
The other great news is that SteamHammerVR is already well on the way to being made and a playable demo is scheduled to be released in July 2016.
Below is some early gameplay footage to watch and further down this page are some trailers and 'The Making of SteamHammerVR'
- Fantastically engaging storyline and characters immersing you in 19th century Steampunk Victorian London, from the streets, to the sewers, from the Tower of London to the banks of the River Thames there are plenty of missions to complete.
- Fully guided gameplay on wielding the mighty SteamHammer weapons - by the famous Doctor Obadiah Springhorn.
- Multiple SteamHammer weapons for both hands. Choose from close combat and ranged attachments and select your favourite combinations of: Steam Hammer, Steam Cannon, Magnet Beam, Rotor Hammer, Rotor Saw, Tesla Ray...and more!
- A wide array of deviously designed automatons for you to defeat, including Clockwork Rats, Ravens, Lions and even the dreaded Steam Kraken!
- Fully VR optimised to look beautiful and play like clockwork!
One of the most gratifying parts of experiencing the game is the attention to detail in the design, particularly that of the SteamHammer and its various appendages.
The main reason for a Kickstarter campaign is to help us not just make a VR game but to make a totally outstanding game that actually involves the gaming community to ensure it becomes one of the most epic VR experiences of 2016.
As you will see in the perks, we have created several opportunities for you to actually be immortalised in the world of SteamHammerVR as well as owning some unique items created during production.
The funding raised will not only be used to enhance and expand the world of SteamHammerVR but we will also allow us to attend as many gaming conventions as possible between now and the official launch in December 2016. We want to bring SteamHammerVR to as many people as we can.
We believe you can never have too many trailers, in each of these we reveal a little more about the story, its characters and some early gameplay footage. This playlist is updated regularly.
The year is 1892 and dark deeds are afoot in old London Town. The dastardly Professor Rattwurm is attempting to enslave the fine English folk with his army of clockwork rodents. But never fear! Using this new-fangled steam power and the technical expertise of Doctor Obadiah Springhorn you are armed with the latest gizmo for bashing robot rats – The Steam Hammer exo-suit!
Initially built for HTC Vive the gameplay sees you armed with your stunning steam powered hydraulic hammer fists as you roam the streets of Victorian London bashing a clanking army of fiendishly designed clockwork enemies.
But you will learn as the story unfolds, that with a little ingenuity and puzzle solving, your SteamHammer will evolve to be much more than just a weapon to bash your foes!
Meet the team behind SteamHammerVR in a series of videos about the making of SteamHammerVR. This playlist is being updated regularly.
As well as some limited edition merchandise, we have put together a few ways you can both support the SteamHammerVR project and be involved in the making of the game.
So, from your name in the credits as a backer, your face appearing in the game to a full on speaking Cameo role, there is something cool for everyone!
Risks and challenges
We are planning to distribute SteamHammerVR on the Steam platform and SteamHammerVR has now been Greenlit, as such this will be the primary channel for distribution, firstly the free demo (July 2016) and the full game which is planned for December 2016.
We do also plan to build a version of SteamHammerVR for both PlaystationVR and the Oculus Rift, timescales on this will be dependent on access to the necessary hardware for testing.
We may decide to release the game as 'Early Access' so as not to miss our release deadline, as such further story chapters and missions will be added at no extra cost to those who commit to purchasing the game as pre-order or on release.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
