12 Days is a holiday-themed family card game designed by James Ernest & Mike Selinker, lovingly illustrated by Echo Chernik, and published by Gamesmith. Gameplay is well balanced for 3 to 5 players ages 8 and older and the game plays in around 15 minutes. 12 Days is the perfect Christmas stocking stuffer for your friends and family!
Game Design: James Ernest and Mike Selinker are industry-leading game designers who have created properties for media giants like Microsoft and Disney, tabletop game publishers like Wizards of the Coast and Mayfair Games, and now Gamesmith. The 12 Days game design skillfully blends set collecting, hand management, and blind bidding mechanisms in a way that is engaging for novice and expert players alike.
Illustrations: Echo Chernik is a San Diego Comic Con fan-favorite artist whose unique creative talent has won numerous awards for her game covers, nationwide ad campaigns, consumer packaging, and now celebrated Gamesmith artist. Echo's magical Art Nouveau-inspired illustrations for 12 Days conjures a timeless holiday feel that you'll love sharing with your friends and family.
Publisher: Boyan Radakovich is the creative director for Gamesmith and an associate producer on the wildly popular webseries TableTop featured on Felicia Day's premium YouTube channel Geek & Sundry. Boyan leveraged his industry contacts to bring together an all-star team to develop and produce 12 Days at the highest possible production value.
12 Days is a holiday-themed card game you'll love playing with your friends and family. 12 Days is a trick-taking bidding game played over 12 turns representing the Twelve Days of Christmas. Players will try to gift away unpopular cards while keeping cards that are strong enough to win the day, and keeping a careful eye for bonus scoring options at the end of 12 Days.
The basic turn sequence for 12 Days is:
- 1) Gift a present to the player to your left,
- 2) Open presents and try to win the day with the best present,
- 3) Buy new gifts and refill your hand.
The player with the most Christmas spirit at the end of 12 Days wins! Game play usually lasts around 15 minutes and is well balanced for 3 to 5 players ages 8 and older. Simply combine multiple decks to play with larger gaming groups!

Note: If you would like to receive additional copies of the game, please simply add $15 (for the USA and Canada) or $20 (for anywhere else in the world) to your pledge, and for each $15 or $20 over the minimum pledge amount, we will ship you an additional copy of the game in December.
Each pledge level includes all the benefits of the levels beneath it.
SUPPORTER [$5]: Once all the art has been finished and the game is ready for press, we'll send you a full-color print-and-play version of 12 Days. This is the easiest way to show your support. Estimated delivery is October 2012.
KICKSTARTER USA [$15]: Once the game has been produced, we'll ship a brand new shiny copy of 12 Days mailed to your address in advance of the game's release to the public. Shipping to any domestic US address is included at this basic level. Estimated delivery is December 2012.
KICKSTARTER CANADA [$30]: Once the game has been produced, we'll mail you TWO COPIES of 12 Days to any Canadian address in advance of the game's release to the public. Canada, we heard you in our last campaign and now offer free shipping to you as well. We simply ask that you purchase a minimum of two units at a time. You can gift the other game or keep both. In fact, if you combine both decks, you'll have enough cards for twice the players without reshuffling! Estimated delivery is December 2012.
KICKSTARTER INTERNATIONAL[ $40]: Once the game has been produced, we'll mail you TWO COPIES of 12 Days to any address worldwide in advance of the game's release to the public. Like the Kickstarter Canadian level above, we simply ask that you purchase a minimum of two units at a time. You can gift the other game or keep both. In fact, if you combine both decks, you'll have enough cards for twice the players without reshuffling! Estimated delivery is December 2012.
HOLIDAY SPECIAL USA [$60]: The holiday special is where we combine your love for Christmas with your love for tabletop gaming! Here, you get two advance copies of 12 Days, plus an additional copy of any of the following Gamesmith games -- Camden, Pirate Den, Wombat! -- gift-wrapped and mailed to any domestic US address you want. You also get all the Stretch Holiday Awards! These start off as beautiful postcards, level up into greeting cards, ornaments, and other amazing bonuses that will make your Christmas extra special! Estimated delivery is December 2012.
INTERNATIONAL COLLECTOR'S EDITION [$100]: Designed for the collector in all of us no matter your location. You get everything at the Holiday Special level including the Stretch Holiday Awards, plus twelve prints of the 12 Days card illustrations. To accommodate your refined tastes, shipping for the collector's edition is available internationally. Estimated delivery is December 2012.
PAX PARTY [$300]: You're invited to our launch party! Want to be at PAX East in Boston, Mass when the Gamesmith Launch Party happens? Simple, sponsor at this level and we'll get you into our exclusive event. Mingle with gaming celebrities, munch on food, mix drinks and conversations about fandom. And if you've ever been to one of Boyan's parties, you know you'll be in good company with the caliber of our guests. When the party is over, pick up your complimentary admission pass to one of the biggest gaming conventions -- PAX East! Come by our booth and hang in the demo area playing your favorite games with the Gamesmith family. Sponsoring at the PAX Party level gets you everything at the International Collector's Edition level plus the exclusive PAX experience. You'll get your games in December 2012 and the PAX East launch party invite and ticket in March 2013.
AMBASSADOR [$500]: This level provides two new benefits. First, you get to select the bonus language in which the rules cards for 12 Days are printed (any known language you want!). Secondly, sponsor at this level and your name is always on the list. You'll be invited to every exclusive event, party, playtesting session and any one convention admission ticket Gamesmith is attending. Rather be at Gen Con than PAX? Great. ART COLLECTOR [$1500]: If you're in love with Echo Chernik's art from 12 Days as much as we are, you'll really appreciate this. We will make you a custom limited edition art piece to your liking. - We want to grow our community! If the Gamesmith Facebook page earns at least 500 likes and we reach our funding goal of $5,000, every single sponsor at the Holiday Special level and higher will receive postcards featuring the 12 Days art. Give them away to your friends and family for Christmas!
$7,500 Rules Translations
- The beautiful thing about 12 Days is that the game components are language-independent. But if we hit this $7,500 stretch goal, Gamesmith will include rules translation cards in as many languages as will fit onto that print sheet. If you sponsor a language at the Ambassador level above, you get to pick the language and we'll even add a special thanks to you on the card itself.
750 Facebook Likes Christmas Greeting Card
- Just like before. If the Gamesmith Facebook page earns at least 750 likes, every single sponsor at the Holiday Special level and higher will have their postcards upgraded to a beautiful foldering greeting card featuring the 12 Days art plus access to the 12 Days digital Christmas cards.
$10,000 Gamesmith Tour
- We're hitting the road promoting games in different cities across the United States sharing our passion for tabletop gaming! If you sponsor at the $2,500 level or above, we will come to your town and host a game day for your whole community. You'll be the star of the party and your attendees will have the opportunity to chat and play games with Gamesmith staff and special guests, plus a chance to win free prizes and many other awesome things. We chose Kickstarter, because Kickstarter is about the community. Kickstarter is a brilliant collection of some of the most creative people -- artists, game designers, film makers -- and the type of fans that truly get it. Because we're making games for each other here, you understand our level of commitment, the long hours working at the computer to make something special that we can share, and the true creative expression that occurs when a small group of like-minded people come together to create something new. Do right by the creator. Being an independent game publisher allows us to give much more artistic freedom and rewards directly to the creators who make the games that you support. There is no one above James telling him to change the game mechanics to fit a different demographic or above Echo telling her to add explosions to the game because that tested well in some focus group (though it did). No, we made 12 Days exactly the way we wanted. Kickstarter allows you to support us, the creator, directly in this process without any obstacles. And this direct connection provides for a clearer expression of the gaming experience.
Make games we're proud to share. Being an independent game publisher also allows us to really make beautiful games that you'll be proud to share. Boyan made sure that we only used the highest quality components in producing 12 Days. This is why Kickstarter is amazing. We don't have to cut corners and skimp on materials because, by sponsoring directly, we can produce the game at a much higher level without increasing the costs to the fans.
One last thing that's really wonderful about Kickstarter is that it allows us to really open up our production pipeline. Normally, new game publishers might come out with one or maybe two games in the first year. Kickstarter and your sponsorship allows us to come out with 3 to 4 games on launch. What this means is that instead of waiting for years to get a game in each category or the next best expansion that really adds to gameplay, we can do all that instead in mere months. Brilliant really. And it's thanks to your support!
