Tattletale is a fast-paced micro-game about the shifting allegiances of elementary school. Each player secretly represents a different faction and plots or opposes plots to get the most playground glory before the teacher has had enough and shuts everything down.
During the game, successful plotting will increase the amount of Homework or Horseplay in the school. In addition to earning points for plotting or stopping a plot, each player's secret role gives them bonus points at the end of the game. They might be any of five roles, including the Teacher's Pet, who earn points for Homework, the Jock, who scores for Horseplay, or someone a little unusual like the BFF, who scores with another player.
Twice a game, the teacher comes in and players literally point fingers at each other to cast blame and reduce glory. The basic turn is structured as an iterative Prisoner's Dilemma with the extra twist that a third player opposes you and can cancel both actions if they guess cleverly.
On your turn, you keep a set of two plot cards, Study and Roughhouse, and give the other set to a co-conspirator. Then, you choose your Opposition and give them the three cards representing possible outcomes: Study/Study, Study/Roughhouse, and Roughhouse/Roughhouse.
The Opposition secretly chooses one while you and your conspirator discuss which plot card you will each play. Studying and Roughhousing together earn both of you glory and increase Homework and Horseplay respectively. However, if you play different plots, the Roughhouser gets all of the glory and the Studier gets none.
Once you’ve both chosen your cards, they’re both revealed along with the Opposition card. If the Opposition correctly guessed the outcome, they foil your Plot and earn glory. Otherwise, you score based on the plots you played.
When the teacher enters, it’s time to cast blame. Simultaneously, everyone points their hands at anyone, causing the one or two people they point at to lose glory. The second time this happens, the game ends and everyone reveals their student card to gain bonus glory based on the current status of Homework and Horseplay.
The student with the most glory at the end rules the school!

Risks and challenges
As we enter the crowdfunding phase, Tattletale is print ready, but we have set an extended delivery date to be on the safe side. Every game project is subject to potential production delays, but we believe we've allowed enough wiggle-room for this game. The final challenge is getting the game and rewards out to the backers. Game Salute is well versed in Kickstarter reward fulfillment and we are prepared to meet this challenge for Tattletale!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
