In Epic Death! you command a party of Adventurers as they face encounters and quests in an amusing and savage fantasy realm. You may have to do battle with bears, wrestle with a gang of cantankerous crones, or perhaps even smite your hangover from the previous evening. No quest is too small!
Beware! Should you fail in your early quests, your hero will accrue Fail points which naturally count against how Epic you are. However, success will earn you Epic Loot, which you can attach to your Adventurers and build up their value.
All Stretch Goals Hit!
Epic Death! has blown through countless stretch goals... have a look at what extras you'll be getting!
That's THREE bonus cards - The Holy Lightsword, Looking For Group and Jane's Cap - as well as a bunch of Epic Death tokens, sixteen CUSTOM dice and a lovely dice bag to stash them all in.
Epic Death Dice Towers? GIVE!
We're also delighted to announce that the Official Epic Death Dice Tower is now available to all as an add-on. These will be made by the fine folks at Blue Panther, a great company whose knockdown towers are the best out there. If you'd care to have a look at the plan for the Epic Death! tower, well...
If you're interested in getting one of these wooden dice towers simply add $25 to your pledge. If we get at least twenty people interested, the price will drop to $20 per tower - please see update #8 for more information and to express your interest!
$20,000 and beyond!
We've been storming through the stretch goals, meaning that each set will now come with SIXTEEN EPIC CUSTOM DICE! Of course, everyone also gets the Jane's Cap, Holy Lightsword and Help Me! cards included in their games as well as those rather fantastic Epic Skull tokens to keep track of your Epic Deaths!
Once you have chosen your quest, all players get the chance to play Fate cards, modifying a party's chances of succeeding in their adventures in both positive and negative ways. Once all the Fate cards are down the player must trust in chance and roll the dice - modified by their good or bad fortune - to see if they were successful. Thankfully, there's always the chance of an epic roll that can make up for even the most terrible of luck.
With all the lesser quests handled, the heroes will go seeking Epic Death! - a fiend or challenge worthy of being their final adventure, such as a mano-a-tentacleo battle against the mighty Kraken. Should the adventurer succeed in the epic quest while dying, it is worth twice as many points! Success isn't all bad though, as it brings in epic Loot to distribute to your Adventurers as well as Fate cards to add to your hand.
Once any player has found an Epic Death! for every member of their party, the game ends and the dead Adventurers (ONLY the dead Adventurers!) are counted toward the players' scores.
The standard Epic Death! box will come with the following:
- 20 brave Adventurers to make up your party!
- a deck of 57 highly sought after Loot cards!
- a Fate deck comprising of 38 cards!
- a Quest and Epic Quest deck made up of 40 cards that will test even the mightiest parties!
- A fistful of Epic Dice! Well, ten. But they are really epic.
There's also the Bonus Pack which adds a whole new element to your game: Events! These testing trials will appear early on in your adventures and will need to be dealt with quickly if you're to become truly Epic heroes. The Booster Pack also comes with two exclusive Fate cards: the Nerf Bat and Potion of Imba... perfect if you're looking to really turn the tide!

Risks and challenges
Publishing a board or card game is a cash intensive endeavor. Long before a game project appears on Kickstarter, the designers and developers will have spent hundred of hours on play testing the game and thousands of dollars on art and design to get the project to state where you will take it seriously. In the case of small design studios like Waits in Graves and small publishers like Game Salute, this money is all paid up front from a VERY limited budget. Epic Death! is a small project as games go, but even so, it can't be made without your help.
Epic Death! is virtually "Print Ready" so we plan to send the final files to the printer within a week or two of the project's close. That means we hope to have it available for release by December, and while we know that every game project is subject to potential production delays, we believe this date is achievable.
The final challenge is getting the game and rewards out to the backers. Game Salute is well versed in Kickstarter reward fulfillment and we are prepared to meet this challenge for Epic Death!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
