Game Salute Guaranteed is our promise that Chaos & Alchemy will be produced with quality components and that you will enjoy the time you spend with the game. If you're not satisfied with Chaos & Alchemy, simply return it to our headquarters within 30 days of receiving it, and we'll refund your pledge. That's our no-questions-asked money-back guarantee.
Behold! Our future plans to make Chaos & Alchemy the very best that it can be! With our funding level attained and $35,000 surpassed, each copy of the game will now come with Custom Star dice and the Brand New Success Cube. Hewn from a nugget of purest Green, this translucent beauty will be developed by some of the finest alchemical minds of this generation to ensure that good fortune always comes your way at least once per turn. You also get brand new art for the Success/Failure cards and everything comes on improved card stock too!
At $35,000 we have some utterly beautiful Custom Dice for all, and the final push to $40,000 will put a glorious custom Chessex Borealis Fortune Die in every copy!
We also have the Enhanced Edition of the game which you can now pledge for at $39. The stretch goals we've already announced are sticking in place, of course - the green success cube, new art for the success/failure cards and such - but you'll also get two expansions. First, there's the Substances Expansion and to tell you all about it here's designer Michael Iachini!
"The base game of Chaos & Alchemy lets you perform experiments to get new items in your laboratory, which is loads of fun. But what if you want the experience of actually mixing two exotic reagents together to see what you get? That's where the Substances expansion comes in!
The expansion adds a new card type to the game: Substances. These cards, which represent various liquids, gases, metals, powders and such that you might find in your laboratory, are free to play to the board. Once you have some Substances in your lab, spend a success to mix two or more of them together, getting explosive benefits from each!
Do you want to mix as soon as you have a pair of Substances on hand or wait until you have three or four at a time for a bigger boom? It's up to you!"
You'll also receive the Apprentices mini-expansion (which you can get your face and name on by pledging at The Apprentices level!).
Chaos & Alchemy (BGG link) is a card and dice game designed by first-time creator Michael Iachini. Following a small self-published run in 2012, Game Salute is now working with him to produce an all new version, complete with incredible art from Enggar Adirasa and graphic design by Dann May that will make the game truly stand out.
By performing experiments in order to build your reputation you will work your way up to your greatest challenge - to transmute lead into gold in your very own alchemical laboratory! Only by successfully completing your experiments will you gain the abilities to become the very best... but you're not the only one trying to achieve the impossible.
In Chaos & Alchemy, you'll roll Experiment dice and compare them with the number shown on the Fortune die to determine whether you've done well or failed. Should you roll multiples of the same number, the Fortune die must be rerolled, changing the odds of success not just for you but all players!
Those successes are vital - you'll need them to fill your workshop with tools like the Clay Crucible, to take actions that can shift the odds in your favor, and to play Rival cards that will ruin your opponents' plans - maybe even robbing their workshops. The full rules to the game are available by clicking here!
The basic Chaos & Alchemy box consists of the following:
- a deck of 90 beautifully illustrated cards
- 8 Experiment dice
- 1 special Fortune die
- 1 Success cube
Here's why in Michael's own words:
You should back Chaos and Alchemy because it is a wild, fun game that's easy to play with all kinds of players. It exposes you to the wonder of discovering eldritch formulas and unlocking the secrets of the universe. It has ways to mess with your neighbor to keep someone from running away with the win, and a good mix of strategy and luck so that it's fun for both newer players and hardcore gamers. Also, because you'll love just looking at the gorgeous art.
This game has already been made once. In 2012 I went to GenCon and the small TactiCon convention here in Colorado, and I also opened a web site to sell my game online. I sold so many games, in fact, that by mid October I was completely sold out!
The game was a ton of fun in its first small print run. What I want is to re-release it with some real professional polish. Let me show you what I mean:
So, we've got a quality game that's got a proven track record that - with a second print run - will look even better than before. Let's bring this excellent game to a wider audience! Show your support for Chaos & Alchemy with this handy avatar!

Want more? Neuroglyph over at ENWorld "can definitely recommend this as a great 'beer & pretzels' game for those nights when your favorite RPG gets cancelled, and you still want to play something with a fantasy edge to it!" Meanwhile, Monkey In The Cage said it's the "perfect time killer"!
Listen to Michael Iachini discuss the game on the Going Last podcast as well as the Enchanted Grounds podcast. Mark Meredith of DiceMonkey.net called Chaos & Alchemy" brilliantly simple and chaotically fun". Other players have stated that it "provides interesting twists and decisions each game", "simple and surprisingly fast and fun" and that it can easily grow from a "Best 2-out-of-3?" to be more of a "Best 5-out-of-9?"!
We'll be posting more reviews here as the campaign continues!
Coming up with a game doesn't cost a lot of money, but printing thousands of copies certainly does. With your support, we can build on the time, money, and energy we've invested in this game and help cover a portion of the production costs to make Chaos & Alchemy a reality. This campaign gives you the chance to help us create the best version of the game possible, while also getting it to your doorstep at a price cheaper than retail.
Shipping is expensive. We've calculated the cost to ship this game to backers around the world and we're subsidizing that to help keep your costs down. The cost to ship this game to backers in the USA is $7.04, so, Game Salute is covering $7.04 of the shipping cost for ALL backers around the world. That means that the pledge level for USA backers includes shipping and for international backers, we're passing along the same savings on shipping. Simply check the chart below, find your destination group, then follow the line to see you total pledge amount in blue.

To keep the shipping costs as low as possible, we ship packages via a variety of shipping services depending on your specific location. We use USPS, FedEx, UPS, and DHL. You will be responsible for any import fees, brokerage or delivery surcharges, or applicable taxes that may be levied after we have shipped your package.
Let us know when you pledge at a retailer level and we'll list your store here to encourage local backers to choose in-store delivery through Game Salute Local Support, earning you the full margin on those games, too, just as if you had sold them yourself.
We are also pleased to offer access to our game designers and creative team for podcast, blog, newspaper, or television interviews. Team members can also be present for conventions and event appearances with a timely invitation and appropriate travel and lodging expense allowances. Please contact David MacKenzie at David@GameSalute.com to discuss any of these media support opportunities.
