Gamer's Tavern started one year ago as a simple idea: Bring the amazing discussions that game professionals had about gaming to a wider audience in a casual, round table format with no holds barred. Going into our second year, we need your help to keep up our high quality standards and to expand further!
We're looking for a base funding of $500 in order to bring in web designers, artists, audio engineers, and other professionals to maintain and upgrade all aspects of the Gamer's Tavern so that we can bring the highest quality content to you. With your help, we will be able to:
- Upgrade our website with a better user interface, new graphics, and easier navigation.
- Create individual RSS feeds for each of our podcast so you can subscribe just to the ones you like or subscribe to our main feed to get everything.
- Audio equipment upgrades to keep up our broadcast-quality standards.
- Starting production on premium content available for sale individually through various outlets. Our backers at the $10 or higher level will get this content for free for the first six months!
That's Not All!
That's just our core funding to make sure we can keep up our high production standards. We have stretch goals in place to bring you even more gaming goodness! New community features on the website, more frequent premium content, and more podcasts for the Gamer's Tavern Podcast Network!
Who We Are
Our host and producer, Ross Watson, is an award-winning game designer with more than 50 credited titles, including work as Lead Developer for the Warhammer 40K Roleplay line and on the Accursed setting for Savage Worlds, design work onStar Wars: Edge of the Empire, Shadowrun 5th Edition, and more, and he is the Managing Director for Evil Beagle Games, publishers of the Shaintar setting for Savage Worlds. He also wrote the storylines for the video games Darksiders II and Warhammer 40K: Regicide.
Our owner, audio engineer, and producer, Darryl Mott Jr., is a lifelong gamer and the tabletop gaming columnist for Ain't It Cool News. Gamer's Tavern is his baby and he's launching this Kickstarter to help it grow into the place to go for gaming entertainment and commentary.
Brandon Gensemer is the Gamemaster of the Gamer's Tavern Game Table: Shadowrun podcast with a resume that stretches from roleplaying game design to working for pretty much every major video game company out there at some point in some capacity. He's also a professional voice actor, which adds a lot of depth to his gamemastering.
Our editor, Nick Jarowski, is the newest member of the Gamer's Tavern family. Nick is the co-founder and co-editor of Leading Notes, an award winning magazine covering music education. He also has his own podcast (independent of Gamer's Tavern) called One Degree of Separation.
What's In It For Me?
Yes, the Gamer's Tavern podcast is free to download. But what will you be getting by backing our Kickstarter?
First thing's first, if we successfully fund, we will start creating premium content. This will vary from deleted scenes from the podcasts, exclusive recordings, commentary tracks on gaming films Rifftrax-style, interviews, reviews, top 10 lists, songs from Darryl's gamer-centric pop-punk band Save or Die, radio plays, and much more. These new projects will be posted on various outlets for between $.99 to $3.99 each. As backers at the $10 level or higher, you'll get this exclusive premium content for six months for free!!
But that's just the start. Your backer dollars will go directly back into the show by upgrading audio equipment, bringing in more professionals to upgrade the website, adding additional content, and (as our stretch goals will show) bringing new shows under the Gamer's Tavern umbrella!

We have many more stretch goals in mind if we get to that point, including some big upgrades, more frequent premium content, new podcasts, and more. Keep coming back here to see what other big ideas we have planned next!
We also have several Secret Room stretch goals on our dungeon. When we reach several milestones in backers, likes on Facebook, retweets about the Kickstarter, followers on Twitter, and more; we will have secret rewards for our backers! Want to know what they are? Sorry, they're secret! But if you keep an eye on our Twitter page, we'll announce when we're close to unlocking one!
Risks and challenges
Our core funding level is ready to go. We have our freelancers lined up and they're just waiting for the go-ahead to start work on the new website, logos, and more. The only potential issue is delays due to technological problems beyond our control as we transition to the new website and set up the new RSS feeds. We're also ready for our stretch goals for new podcasts as they will use the same infrastructure and talented professionals.
We have one physical reward which is not only a printed product, but it's also fragile glass. While our quote is from a highly respected glassware manufacturer who has a solid reputation as well as personal recommendations, there's always the chance of delays due to misprints or breakage during shipping. Our funding goal and stretch goals ensure that we will be able to make up for this potential with only the loss of time in getting the rewards to our.
Rewards that involve interaction with the hosts are subject to the availability of the host in question. We cannot guarantee a specific time, date, or even host. We will do our best to accommodate all specific requests, but the more patient you are, the more we can help you. Rewards involving a live game session with a host are limited to system choices within the host's ability to run.
Any pledge levels with backer-submitted content is subject to the approval of the Gamer's Tavern staff. We reserve the right to reject any topic suggestions, audio submissions, Tavern Tales, advertisements, sponsorships, or any other backer level that we feel would reflect negatively on the Gamer's Tavern for any reason. We will work with our backers as much as possible to accommodate requests, but we will not refund any pledges if we find the content you wish to air on our network objectionable (including but not limited to illegal activities, hate speech, pornographic content, or drug-related products).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
