The Hobby Holder, a versatile, all-in-one miniature painting holder and grip system that’s not just for gamers but for hobbyists of all kinds. The Hobby Holder is a better way to paint miniatures, period.
There are so many awesome miniature games on the market right now like Kingdom Death, Shadows of Brimstone and Descent to name a few as well as some great RPGs (anyone else excited about Starfinder?) and tabletop and wargames. Not to mention all those Bones miniatures from Reaper that will need more than a little bit of paint.
I wanted to create an all-in-one tool to help get you to your game faster while improving your technique and making painting faster and more comfortable.
Ideal for painting, sculpting, model building and more by providing ultimate control and maximum comfort!

Offset handle accommodates various height miniatures while allowing for painting and airbrushing from any angle.
Lots of room all around your miniature.

Dozens of positioning options to fit your painting style, including the ability to use the handle as a brush or tool support as well as a table rest for greater control.

From the testers
Max P. - "It's a well thought out, lighter version of the home made holders I've used for years. It was comfortable. It felt like something that should come in a fancy paint kit. It specifically helped getting even coverage when I used a washes to bring out details and add low-lights in larger pieces. Being able to easily see the piece from all sides meant I could detail the base as a unit without going back to fix missed spots made the pieces I painted look more cohesive."
John S. - "...a very nicely designed tool. Really enjoyed using it and I have already backed the kick starter. ... really looking forward to the injection molded vice 3-D printed version."
Painting KD:M's Percival on The Hobby Holder
After a lot of research, injection molding is the best option for produceability while maintaining the strength and finish the Hobby Holder needs to stand up to the crafting table. However, injection molds are not cheap to produce, especially with multiple "side pulls" (that's a term I learned talking to the manufacturer). Add in the fact that the Hobby Holder requires two molds; one for the handle and one for the base. If we are successful with the funding goal we will be able to produce the molds, enough Hobby Holders for all backers and the official packaging
I love board games. I love D&D. I love building and painting miniatures. And I love sharing my creations with my friends.
Like many miniature painters and hobbyists, I began by mounting miniatures on bottle caps, wine corks and paint bottles. I began working on the yet to be named Hobby Holder several years ago while I was looking for a way to improve my technique, comfort, speed and most of all enjoyment while painting miniatures. While I was casting miniatures one day, I had an idea and cast a soda bottle neck and a champagne cork. Hooking them together, the first official version of the Hobby Holder was born.
For a while this worked well, and I could see other people wanting to use it for their hobbies. However, I wanted to create something that was easier to use and more comfortable over long painting sessions. I began sketching some designs and looking into the feasibility of producing a marketable version for other like-minded painters.
I brushed up on my 3D modeling skills and began creating the first renderings of the Hobby Holder. Using 3D printing, I produced a plethora of prototypes for myself and other painters and sculptors to test.
Fast forward more than 30 versions, and I felt the Hobby Holder was complete. After putting it through final testing it received the thumbs up from volunteers in the painting community.
Throughout the process, I have remained in close contact with the injection mold manufacturer making sure the Hobby Holder was easily producible while maintaining all injection molding standards.
I am working closely with a US-based manufacturer and have the Hobby Holder’s final files submitted and in standby mode. Pending any issues with the molds, I was quoted a three-week turnaround for the final samples to be built, produced and delivered to me. During those three weeks, I plan to send out surveys to select options and add-ons based on your pledge levels.
After the order is placed, I anticipate receiving all the Hobby Holders during the first weeks of January. Packaging and mailing should take place the following two weeks. US-based backers should be receiving their rewards early February while International backers should receive theirs shortly after that.
All backers at The Hobbyist level and above will receive the final injection molded version of the Hobby Holder and all applicable stretch goals. Backers can choose to receive the official blue and green retail Hobby Holder or mix and match the available colors.

My name is Kit Peteranecz, and I am the founder of Game Envy Creations and the creator of the Hobby Holder. I’m a husband, father of two humans and two cats and am employed full-time as a graphic designer while also maintaining a freelance graphic design business. Throw in the fact that I’m a tabletop gamer, hobbyist, inventor and a board game designer with a love of painting and building miniatures and models – and you can see, I don’t have a lot of time. But, I dedicated myself to bringing an awesome product to the market that I love and wanted others to experience as well.
Thank you so much for considering pledging to bring the Hobby Holder to life. I get so excited imagining the Hobby Holder in the hands of all skill level and ages all over the world. I hope that the Hobby Holder will help people better experience the world of miniatures.
Risks and challenges
While this is my first Kickstarter campaign I have created, it is not the first project I have backed or followed; I have been through good and bad campaigns and have learned a lot. It is also not my first business venture; I am a successful freelance designer and marketer. I help other businesses succeed so I know what it takes.
The injection molding process is relatively new to me, so the issues I know of are all anecdotal. I have been speaking with and working very closely with the manufacturer, however, and I feel confident in their ability to deliver in the scheduled timeframes. The files are already approved, so production can begin immediately.
