Frequently Asked Questions
These are hard times for everyone, especially for people who have lost their dearest or have friends or family in a critical condition. The world is going through a crisis that will probably have an effect on our lifes for many years. We explicitly want to thank and support all the people that are working very hard day and night to help and cure people.
Our economy will suffer from this crisis. And we totally understand that retailers are not inclined to buy any games when their stores have to stay closed.
At Game Brewer, we are all working from our homes right now, with no physical meetings with anyone. And although we will probably feel less from this crisis than many other businesses, like restaurants, bars or non-food stores, this will harm us too. GAMA was a convention that we invested a lot in, but with much less return than expected because a lot of distributors and retailers didn't show up; many other conventions are getting cancelled, which makes it hard for us to market and directly sell our games; booked hotels are not refunded when cancelled; the production of our games is getting delayed, which may cause a delay of the release date, working from our homes also means we can't test-play our new games, etc.
We started preparing this campaign of "Paris" in August 2019. We only publish a few games a year. "Paris" has been scheduled as a Spiel 2020 release. Postponing this campaign would mean that we would have to postpone the entire production. And that would mean that we would miss out on a release at Spiel and that we would miss out on the sales at the end of the year. That would be a financial disaster that a small publisher like Game Brewer would maybe not even survive.
We also believe that a campaign like this can offer some distraction for people. And to minimize the damage, we think it's best to keep on rolling...Last updated:
Yes! We have some new AMUZA games coming up that will be available on the pledge manager. AMUZA is our new line of 8+ games that we will launch this summer. To promote this launch, it will be possible to add the first 3 AMUZA games to your pledge:
- Pizza (8+, GenCon release)
- Bugz (party game, 8+, September release)
- Circus (8+, Spiel release)
For more information about those games, please visit www.amuzagames.com.
No! All of our other games won't be available on the pledge manager. The fulfillment of a Kickstarter project follows a different route than the other games that we already have in stock. If someone in China backs Paris, for instance, their game will go straight from the factory to the fulfillment center in China and then to their home. Our other games are not stored there. It would be a logistical nightmare to add them to your order.Last updated:
You can find most of our games in your LFGS. If they do not have our games in stock, you can ask for them and the store manager will probably know where to find them.
Or, you can order all our games on our website www.gamebrewer.com.
We offer free shipping for any order above $100/€100 in the USA and the EU.Last updated:
If this campaign ends successfully, we will produce all the games necessary for all the backers and about 200 extra games to cover for potential damages. Any leftover copies will be sold afterward, mainly at conventions.
Retailers and co-publishers may purchase the standard game with KS exclusive wooden resource en prestige tokens or the deluxe version with all the wooden tiles, during this campaign, to sell afterward.
And after this campaign, we’ll organize a late pledge on the pledge manager, for people who missed the Kickstarter, for about 1 month.
So there is a small chance that you will find the standard game with KS exclusives or the deluxe game later somewhere else. But we have asked retailers and co-publishers not to sell below our Kickstarter prices.Last updated:
Yes, we will use a pledge manager. After the campaign, you will receive an invitation link to the pledge manager to complete your order. This will add the shipping cost to your pledge. And also the metal coins can be ordered through the pledge manager.Last updated:
If we reach the stretch goal of the custom insert, it will definitely be an insert that is big enough to hold all the deluxe components, metal coins, and even some extra wooden tiles and a small expansion that we are already working on.
The insert will NOT be delivered with the standard version of the game.Last updated:
Yes, we’ve used “Sim Daltonism” to check the colors for color-blind friendliness.Last updated:
Of course, just visit our website https://www.gamebrewer.com and subscribe to our free newsletter in the footer of the website.Last updated:
We didn't see many options for this game to add stretch goals. The deluxe version already contains all the extra's that we could imagine. That's why we chose a campaign with only one stretch goal. And because it's hard to keep a campaign lively with only one stretch goal, we also chose to make this campaign shorter than usual.Last updated:
Whenever we publish an expansion, we always offer the deluxe variant, so that you can play it together with the base game. A good example is Gugong and its Panjun expansion.
The designers do already have a small expansion in mind. And there are ideas to add some more bonus tiles to the game.Last updated:
Shipping is always a tough part of a Kickstarter campaign. And in recent years, it has only become more expensive. Basically this is how we calculated the shipping costs:
- Ocean/ground freight from the factory in China to fulfillment centers in China, the US and the EU is included in the price of the game;
- Packaging, package materials, protection, labeling, and sorting is included in the shipping fee (about $3/package);
- Shipping from the fulfillment center to your home is included in the shipping fee.Last updated:
First of all, this game will be indeed be available in the local games stores (the good ones anyway :)), throughout the world.
And chances are big that you will find the standard game (with an MSRP of $49) cheaper in your FLGS than here on Kickstarter.
Why buy now?
1. Because our backers will receive their game first, before it shows up in retail.
2. Because the standard game will contain the KS exclusive wooden resource and prestige tokens. These will not be included in the games that you will find in retail (beyond any early retail KS backers).
One exception: If retailers order the standard game during this campaign, they will receive games with all the KS exclusives. But we have asked them not to sell those games any cheaper than we did on Kickstarter.Last updated:
