Tiny Frontiers: Mecha & Monsters is the first stand alone expansion to the Tiny Frontiers ruleset!
Using the rules in this book, you'll be able to play giant stompy robots defending civilization, awakened monsters wrecking havoc to teach mankind a lesson, bizarre deep space hybrids and so, so much more.
Character creation is simple, fast, and exciting. You pick your character type based on the exciting stories your Game Master is going to tell, you pick a few Systems or Evolutions that each grant a single benefit, and you're done!
Sometimes you don't have time to plot lengthy, detailed worlds, but you want that experience. Well, we've got your back, and that support comes in the form of micro-settings! Micro-settings are short settings filled with adventure hooks, and designed to kickstart your giant stompy adventures with minimal effort!
Ever wanted to defend mankind from the cockpit of a mecha? Now you can, and for a price lower than a single round of 50 mm railgun ammunition.
Our goal is to fund a softcover edition, a limited number of hardcover collector’s editions, and the Tiny Frontiers M&M dice. We’ve planned several stretch goals which will increase page count but provide you with more fun and engaging sci-fi content!
Tiny Frontiers uses up to three six-sided dice as part of action resolution during the game.
If you roll a "5" or "6" on a die, your check succeeds. Most checks are made with two dice. However, if you are deemed to have "advantage" on a roll, you gain a third dice to roll. If you have disadvantage, you lose a dice (rolling only a single dice).
Characters are made quickly and easily. You will select a chassis, all manner of systems, weapons, armors, and bioweapons to create the ultimate in high-tech and futuristic battle weapons.
Micro-settings are unique, yet small "example settings" specifically designed to be used as a tool, resource, or spring-board for your own campaigns.
All of the micro-settings come with some story, some fluff, and a single rule that is designed to be unique to that particular micro-setting. These setting-unique rules are in addition to the base rules of the game.
The core book comes with some very different micro-settings, written by professional authors, industry veterans, and fans of the genre. Below are the first micro-settings that are included in Tiny Frontiers if we fund! Additionally settings can be discovered by achieving stretch goals!

When terraformed Mars fell under attack by space-borne kaiju, they could not rely upon their Earth governments to aid them. So in the shadow of the crisis, they formed the MMA: the Martian Mobile Army. Drafted from the populace and deputized with ultimate martial authority, and enabled by new modular technology, the MMA deployed fleets of tanks, mobile suits, and flying fortresses against the kaiju threat, driving them away from the martian colonies.
Now, the MMA forms a convenient means by which the Earth-dominated Mars government maintains order amongst widespread civil unrest. With the kaiju attacks returning at any time, plans to disband the MMA and restore the rights of the Mars colonies has been permanently suspended.
To keep the regular citizen revolts under control, the MMA is regularly deployed as an elite SWAT force against anything the government deems a threat to order. As draftees from the unwashed masses, these “Tank Jocks” perform their duties will all the grace and subtlety of a pair of chainsaw nunchucks.

Tiny Frontiers uses a simple ruleset to build and maintain awesome Mecha vs Kaiju combat while not bogging you down with lots of math, tables and charts.
Each "chassis" or "bioform" has a certain amount of systems they can pick off of balanced lists, allowing for customization without complication! Each character and their Mecha or Kaiju will feel different, unique, and fun!
What about the pilots?
Well, it is an expansion. We have very simple, functional and minimalist pilot rules but this game will only let you tell a story about Mecha and Kaiju. For all the real science fiction pilot and jockey goodness, you'll want to combine Tiny Frontiers with Tiny Frontiers: Mecha and Monsters!
The book will be 5.5 x 8.5 in dimensions. If we unlock all the stretch goals, the book will be over 120 pages. Without, it'll be closer to 40.
- If you want to add an extra softcover of Tiny Frontiers: Mecha and Monsters, you can increase your pledge by $15 USD.
The custom dice are being made by Chessex (pictures below).
- If you want to add an extra set of dice (they come as 3 of each), you'll want to increase your pledge by $6 USD.
The GM screen is 5x7, trifold, matte GM Screens (they'll be card-stock and light-weight, to fit the minimalist style of the game).

The handcrafted dice-bags on the deluxe level look like the picture below. These dicebags (and the accompanying hardcovers) are Kickstarter exclusives and are never sold retail after the Kickstarter is over.

TF:M&M has been in development since early 2016 and been in play-testing for 6 months!
GKG (because typing that full name repeatedly is a chore), currently consists of Alan Bahr as the principal designer/creative, his lovely wife Erin as the force behind the throne (seriously, she's why stuff gets done), and a variety of talented freelancers and creatives.
We have an awesome list of contributors who we'll preview and talk about in our updates as we approach or unlock their stretch goals.
These books are optional add-ons for this project! It's a crazy deal, because backers are getting this books for over half off the retail price! These books are as big as a Kaiju or Mecha too!
Kaiju Rising is 550 pages and MECH is over 600 pages.

Risks and challenges
Q: Can Gallant Knight Games handle this project?
This is Gallant Knight Games second Kickstarter, and we learned a lot from the first one. We delivered the digital rewards over 5 months early, and the physical rewards over 3! This is a more complicated project with more nuances, but we're prepared to handle them, and we're shooting for the same exceptional success we've already had!
Q: What if the text isn't finished?
A: The draft text of all the rules is 100% done and will be made available for backers in draft form soon after the Kickstarter funds and closes. The only text we're waiting on is the "micro-settings", and as we depend on the backers to determine what needs to be written, those will come throughout and after the Kickstarter.
Q: What if the complexity of the project overwhelms GKG?
A: We have straight forward pledge levels to make it easy to manage, and we've budgeted our stretch goals up to our cap. In order to keep the project manageable for our small team, we've elected to minimize our stretch goals to text increases, and we've set a finite limit of page count.
Q: What about delays in art?
A: We've already began to contract out the art, and some of the art is already here. Isn't it great? We're really happy with our artists. If there's a delay on the art, we have back-up artists we've already done test runs and are ready to work with.
Q: Increase in shipping costs?
A: Shipping costs constantly rise, and while we've projected them to the best of our abilities, there's not a lot we can do if they change. However, due to the limitations on the size of our product, we're confident this won't be an issue.
Q: What if something happens to the principals?
A: If something were to happen to Alan, or another writer on the project, we've identified our backups, and our team is spread all over the world. It'd take a really big asteroid, zombie apocalypse or alien invasion to wipe us all out. The files and plans have been communicated to the whole team, and a new project lead (who has been identified) will step up.
