GALLANT KNIGHT GAMES is proud to present:
Sagas & Six-Guns is a Savage Worlds Adventure Edition setting and rulebook about a mythical and uninhabited frontier settled by Scandinavian cultures. A mash-up of the Old West and the Old Norse, Sagas & Six-Guns is what happens when Beowulf takes on Grendel with a pair of six-shooters and his trusty axe.
The setting and rule-book is written by Robert Buckey, who has teamed up with GALLANT KNIGHT GAMES. The game utilizes the Savage World: Adventure Edition ruleset.
You do need the Savage World: Adventure Edition rulebook to play this game.
We aim to give you the tools you need to tell fantastic stories of shootists wielding pistols while shouting oaths to the Aesir in Valhalla. Your heroes will battle everything from cattle rustlers and train robbers, to trolls and maybe even a dragon. You can be anything from a mundane pistolero or gunmaiden, to a runecasting seer, to a Valkyrie cut off from Asgard.
Sagas and Six Guns makes use of the highly adaptable Savage Worlds rules to play out the adventures of your heroes in Western Midgard. It also introduces some exciting setting specific rules to enhance the experience, to represent both the gritty Western and Viking tropes. Pistol dueling, or Holmgang, will be represented, allowing your characters to face down other steely eyed gunslingers.
In keeping with the Norse traditions of Saga telling, and to represent the renown your character will accrue over the course of their adventures, rules are included to represent the spread of your personal Saga, and the benefits that affords you.
Lastly, social rules are included for Ring Giving, to represent your characters gathering a large posse of warriors to their cause.

While driving to work one day a couple of years ago, I was listening to Volbeat’s western themed album “The Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies”, and Amon Amarth, a Swedish death metal band whose entire lineup uses themes from Norse mythology (my daily commute is about 45 minutes or so). So it hit me that a setting combining the two would be amazing!
So later that morning, I posted on the Savage Worlds Facebook page my idea, at the time very raw, and it got a lot of positive feedback, including Alan reaching out to me and proposing we make this a reality.
The game is written, the editing is finished, the art is done and our layout designer is already laying the game out! This game is ready to go. We just need your help to get the word out about it, and help make sure everyone gets paid!
This is a fast campaign to help recoup some of the expenses incurred in making the game. We'll deliver the game as fast as we can (we anticipate the PDF coming out as soon as the Kickstarter funds are delivered.)
The book will be a 7x10" format. As layout progresses, we'll add an estimated page count. A free JumpStart is available on DriveThruRPG AT THIS LINK!
The goal is to make this as streamlined as possible for the team, so we're putting fulfillment duties into the capable hands of DriveThruRPG.
When the book is ready to be released, backers will receive an at-cost code to print their books on DriveThruRPG.
They can order the codes they pledge for and get them shipped directly to them. Please keep in mind: backers will still need to pay for shipping costs and the at-cost price of the book.
Printing costs are estimated at around (or under) $6 USD for the softcover, and around (or under) $10-13 USD for the hardcover.
We've hosted our products on DriveThruRPG for years now, and have only ever received excellent service and support. We're confident they can help us deliver a beautiful book to all our backers on time.
Gallant Knight Games is an indie game company run by Alan and Erin Bahr. This is our 14th GKG Kickstarter, and Alan has consulted on over two dozen others as project managers or other roles.
Our previous Kickstarters (Tiny Frontiers and Tiny Frontiers: Mecha & Monsters) delivered early to backers (4 months in the case of Tiny Frontiers), and a majority of our projects, including our flagship Tiny Dungeon 2e have delivered on time! While we've hit some hurdles on a few projects, we've always delivered as much value as we can and we do our best to learn from and improve on previous issues!
Risks and challenges
Q: Can Gallant Knight Games handle this project?
Gallant Knight Games' has successfully delivered many Kickstarter projects, and we learned a lot from all of them. We've been early or on time every time, but once (due to a death.) We have two projects that are not out to backers yet, but one is currently printing and preparing for fulfillment, and the other is exactly on track and this project will not impact that one. This is a straightforward project with no nuances.
Q: What if the text or art isn't finished?
A: The game is already laid out, and proofread! We just need to generate the funds to cover the cost of the game and putting it into backers hands!
Q: What if the complexity of the project overwhelms GKG?
A: We deliberately built this project to avoid being complex.
Q: What about delays in art?
A: All the art is in!
Q: Increase in shipping costs?
A: DriveThruRPG operates all over the world, and we're confident they'll get our backers the best shipping cost!
Q: What if something happens to the principals?
A: All that will have to happen is loading the game into DriveThruRPG, and we've got a back up plan for that!
