It's that time again! We're heading back into the studio in mid-November 2017 to record our fourth album. Our 2014 album was successfully Kickstarter funded and we had such a blast doing it that we're trying it once more.
We're very excited to announce that Jimbo Mathus (Squirrel Nut Zippers) has hopped on board as Producer! He has had a long and successful career in the music business and we look forward to working with such an experienced and creative mind. To find out more about the man, visit the Fat Possum website.
As you well know, putting out an album is not only a lot of work but it can also be an incredibly expensive venture. We keep it on the less expensive side and costs still hover between $10,000 and $15,000 once it's all said and done.
So what costs so much? Here's what $15,000 pays for:
- Recording, mixing and mastering
- Guest musicians
- CD design/art
- Pressing, printing and packaging
- Radio and print PR
If you are already a fan of the band, you will know that we have gone through some major staff changes this past year. We've been doing some awesome stuff with this group including touring Europe and opening up for the great Wanda Jackson at the famous Tipitina's in New Orleans. The group is sounding better than ever and the band we will record with is the band we play with live. We hope to add in a few special guests, too!
Check out these live versions of new songs recorded that night at Tipitina's:
In My Dreams (LIVE AT TIPITINA'S)
Let's Run Away (LIVE AT TIPITINA'S)
Ain't Gonna Buy My Ring (LIVE AT TIPITINA'S)
Featured on the new studio album are these fine musicians:
Vanessa Niemann AKA The Gal - Lead Vocals
Rose Cangelosi - Drums & Backing Vocals
Matt Slusher - Electric Lead Guitar
Corey McGillivary - Upright Bass & Backing Vocals
Justin LeCuyer - Acoustic Guitar & Backing Vocals
We do have a "stretch goal" if we exceed our monetary goal:
VINYL REWARD LEVEL: $17,500
We have always wanted to do vinyl and if we go over at this level we will add in a vinyl reward option.
Risks and challenges
Every project has risks and challenges. Music recording often has unforeseen challenges such as time constraints and things taking longer than usual, especially with a new band. We feel like these challenges will be easily overcome with the help of the stellar team we have put together.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
