Thanks to you, Saving Throw is a success! The show is getting made! But it's not over yet! Take part in the epic battle of good vs. evil and get a taste of the RPG life by backing the project and participating in the TOMB OF THE FORBIDDEN STRETCH GOALS. A campaign within a campaign!
Each day there's a new goal to reach. Which goal you choose determines the story - will you choose to follow the path of the light and defeat Cthulhu, or will you choose the path of chaos and help awaken him? The choice is yours! Read all about it in Update #10 here! And watch the updates page for new goals each day!!
Read below for what we're trying to achieve with these stretch goals!
Now that we're over $8,000, we have several stretch rewards - things to shoot for. Extra goodies, improved production value, and an overall sense of vast accomplishment for you to bask in!
$10,000 - We make another music video parody like Just Give Me a d6, focusing on another game system OF YOUR CHOOSING. We'll poll the lot of ya after the campaign and write a song based on the most popular system of choice!
$15,000 - This will help us afford to travel to conventions like Gen Con, Nerdtacular, Strategicon, Kubla Con, BoardGameGeek Con, and many more. Where we can host character creation panels, run games and most importantly meet YOU! Donors at the $20 level and up will receive a custom d20 with a Saving Throw design as an additional reward.
$25,000 - At this level we can have a professional web-design company restructure the site the way we ultimately envision it. This will be a hub of information and will be an easy to use and navigate marvel of technology (until some Shadowrun hacker archetype breaks in). ALL backers, from the $1 level and up will be given access to a backer's only private forum on the new site with behind the scenes info and cast/crew chats.
$50,000 - We'll throw in additional episodes throughout the season covering old school games like Paranoia, AD&D 2e, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness, and more! PLUS, everyone who donates at the $35 level or above gets the item (either the t-shirt or the tote) that they didn't order before, for FREE! If you placed an order for two, you'll get your choice of a 3rd item, again FOR FREE.
$100,000 - We make a web-series based on our characters in the Pathfinder campaign. It'll be like Lord of the Rings (but halflings instead of Hobbits, of course)! Donors of $100 or more will get the opportunity to name characters, visit the set, and even a walk-on role (for donors at $1,000 or more). All donors at the $20 level and up will get a free digital download of this event!
Saving Throw is an instructional web-series and website, designed to teach you not only how to play, but why. We love pen & paper role-playing games and want to share that passion with you, your friends, and the world.
With over 40 years of history, RPGs can be an intimidating prospect for some geeks. And with new systems emerging each year knowing the choices and rules becomes daunting. That's where Saving Throw comes in!
Saving Throw will teach you what you need to get started in a friendly and engaging manner where YOU are in control. Episodes will be bite-sized and shareable because we know you've got that life-thing that keeps getting in the way!
We're like a mixture of Wil Wheaton's TableTop and Mythbusters, with a healthy dab of Top Gear thrown in for good measure. We're a flexible resource you can utilize to help you learn or teach your favorite RPGs.
What will the first series cover/be about?
Saving Throw will be a dynamic series that takes you out of the living room of most RPG instructional shows and takes you on location and into the studio. We'll help guide you through character creation and gameplay, showing you what you need to play and what makes RPGs so fun!
In the first series we'll be covering Paizo's immensely popular Pathfinder RPG system. Pathfinder is a fantasy-based tabletop game based off the 3.5 edition of D&D. Affectionately referred to as 3.75, it's got all the fantasy staples - wizards, dwarves, elves, magic, barbarians, evil kings, dragons and more. Much more. So much you might say you'd need a web-series to help explain it all!
In future series we'll cover other gaming systems, from old school to new. Our website also has articles about many other game systems. We've got you covered no matter what you're interested in playing.
Through in-depth instructional videos we'll take you step-by-step through the process of creating a character. From rolling ability scores to choosing weapons and spells we'll break down the why's and how's in fun and entertaining ways. With your help we can visit and film at places like Sword Play where people train how to fight like Jedi for a Star Wars: Age of Rebellion-themed episode. Or a blacksmith like the Sword and Stone to discuss skills and proficiencies in a D&D inspired series. Those are just a couple examples of how we'll take you out of the living room and into your imagination.
With your help we can make it happen.
We're players, just like you! We've got around 50 years of collective RPG experience between us. We love learning new games as well as teaching old ones. Some of us are recent RPG enthusiasts, while others have been playing since childhood.

Together, we made this music video as an homage to the campaign we were running. With your generous donation, we can make more like this:
It's not surprising that a series like this will cost money. While we're dedicated to making this happen regardless of pay, we want to make sure the rest of the crew is adequately compensated, that we've got food on shoot days, and insurance to cover rentals. Your pledge will help us offset the costs to maintain and improve the website and ensure we can continue to bring you the best news, reviews, and information about all of your favorite RPGs.
Your donation will go towards the following:
$2,000 - Crew costs
$2,000 - Post-production (effects, editing, music)
$1,000 - Insurance
$1,000 - Location & Gear rentals
$750 - Travel costs for cons, on-location filming
$500 - Craft services & meals on set
$750 - Kickstarter fees/Shipping & Fulfillment costs
Reward descriptions and how to pledge.
These rewards represent only the tip of the iceberg in terms of our thanks to you for donating. And we've tried to keep things focused on things that will help your gaming experience. Because ultimately it's you who makes this show work!
$1.00 - $40.00 are pretty standard reward levels. You got yer t-shirts, yer tote bags, yer exclusive invitations to live filming, etc. From there, however, we get even more exciting!
You'll note that at the $35-40 levels you can choose either the BAG OF HOLDING - or - the LET'S DUNGEON T-SHIRT. If you want both, no problem! Just add that tier's amount to your pledge. So for example if you got the LET'S DUNGEON T-SHIRT but also wanted the BAG OF HOLDING, you'd add $40 to your existing pledge of $35 for a total of $75 (plus applicable shipping if you live outside the U.S.).
Starting at $85 and up we move into unique territory. Each item is tailored specifically to YOU. We'll help you develop your character, run a game with you... heck, we'll even compose and perform a song about you or your character!
Shipping costs are included for US residents, while non-US backers will be charged a small shipping fee depending on the item, as listed in the reward section.
Can't donate? No problem! If you love RPGs and you know other people who do, please share this project! Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Google+, YouTube... take to the streets! Let us know you shared... there might even be something in it for ya!
Or maybe you've got some skills with web-design, programming, writing, or After Effects and want to join us? Hit us up!
If we're lucky enough to hit our $8,000 goal, we'll be able to shoot the first season but the fun doesn't end there! No sir! We have big plans! With extra funds we can shoot in more locations, attend more conventions, reach out to more groups to help facilitate learning and events. TL;DR: With more money we can make the show even better!

Risks and challenges
There are risks inherent with every video project and Saving Throw is no different. If we don't reach our goal we'll still make the series and the website will still continue, however we'll be forced to scale back considerably and many of the fresh new ideas will need to be cut.
The rewards will be processed through reputable dealers with years of experience fulfilling these types of requests. Every effort will be made to ensure the quality of the items meets our strict standards. Likewise, any video reward is dependent on individual internet connections and technical issues. We will do everything we can to mitigate these potential problems.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
