You have the magic powers to make La La's dream a reality! Help Gabby La La make a music video for her super kawaii song "Nap Time!"
(don't forget to look at the updates!! there is a special video:)
The video I plan to create is a gift to you and to all of the world! It’s my way of sharing but I cannot create the video on my own. Since music videos are costly and require the talent of many people, I knew Kickstarter was the way to raise the funds for this art project. I hope people visiting this project’s site will feel inspired to donate to the production of this music video. Thank you for taking the time to visit my Kickstarter campaign site and many thanks in advance for your support!
Gabby La La's music video for her original song, "Nap Time," will feature dance/karate battling inside a white light environment between Gabby La La and Mimi La La (her sister who appears as the bear in the video for "Alarm Clock"). In the video, the two girls fall into a nap trance and find themselves dancing into a frenzy where the parameters of reality are flipped upside down and all around!
Using multiple projectors, we will create beautiful illusions by projecting images on people from the front and onto the walls from various other angles. The plan is to build a cocoon type of environment on which will be projected many layers of abstract light and color. Everyone is already working on the designs for the space and projection art content. I would really like to create a prism ribbon effect with rainbow colors shooting through the walls of the light box and appearing all over the set and the white and silver costumes. Kirsty McKenzie will be designing the costumes for this video. The complexity and detail of these designs will depend largely on reaching our budgeting goal. If we are able to go beyond the goal, I am hoping to have more costumes so that I can include some performances of my band "The Mushroom People."
The video will be directed by famed video magician Mark Kohr. Mark Kohr has worked with bands such as Primus, Green Day, and Cake to make beautifully creative and energetic music videos. He also directed Gabby La La's first music video, "Alarm Clock".
Your contributions to this project will go toward set design, props, costumes, lighting, equipment, editing, and promotion.
p.s. Kickstarter allows us to be "OVER" funded! If I am supported beyond my goal of $5000 I plan to put the money toward recording a new album!!! I have already written over half of the songs, they just need to be recorded!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!
Talented people who will be working on this project are Randy Wentzel, Mark Kohr, Aaron Kohr, Mimi La La, Kirsty McKenzie...YOU!
A music video gives people of all ages, cultures and tastes the opportunity to experience new music. A music video is a great project to help bring my music and artistic ideas to the world --- with the intention of spreading joy and inspiring creativity in other people.
I've been writing a lot of new songs that I would love to share with all of you. These songs are acoustic and sonically more along the lines of my first album. I've really been inspired by the energy that bands like Edwarde Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros create. More "sing-a-longs" and positive energy. In these songs, I think you'll find that there's more of me and how I've grown as a person and musician. If I am able to go beyond my goal, I will put the money towards recording these new songs with live musicians!
Music Video is my new favorite art form. With the video for "Alarm Clock," I was able to express myself more completely than in a whole collection of songs. I am a very creative and visual person, and things like lighting, costumes, make up and movement are super important to me...I can't believe I didn't think of making a music video before!
Doubling or tripling the goal would mean that you get a music video, a new album, more shows in more places with a full band, and hopefully more videos! Right now, when I get asked to play shows outside of California, I either have to go alone and play solo, or I have to say no. I would love to be able to share the full band experience with all of you. We have grown a lot as an ensemble and it would be so great if all of our friends, family and fans got to experience it:)
Gabby La La plays a total of 6 instruments!
5. TOY PIANO
I was in the habit of collecting records at garage sales and I came across the album "All Things Must Pass" by George Harrison. I heard a sound which I loved but I didn't know what it was. I asked my mom "what instrument is that?" and she told me that it was a sitar. She found out that the Ali Akbar College of Indian Music was located not far from where we lived and I began taking lessons. I was very fortunate to learn directly from Ali Akbar Khan.
