About

forwward strives to compress the boundaries of creative disciplines, media, and generations within every context into a cohesive body of praxis. It is the process of establishing new realms and dimensions beyond the superficiality of the contemporary.

We look forward to distancing ourselves from the incessant distraction and monotonous content of contemporary architectural discourse. The prestige of architecture has been lost in the age of digital surplus. No longer evolving, it now lives in a state of constant regurgitation. Will the architect go the way of the renderer; no longer a person?

While the authors have a shared interest in the topics chosen, each may have opposing or differing perspectives. This is a healthy exchange of knowledge. We’ve found that great opportunities surface when we take the time to listen to others – we have two ears and one mouth.

How can we set up a conversation between a global network that is tied together by topical similarities, whilst being culturally and geographically unique?

It’s on us to define what type of role we want to play.

We all stem from the past’s desire to create a better future regardless of where you were born.

What we find intriguing is how productive and impactful we become by simply removing cultural, geographic, ideological, and linguistic boundaries. Acknowledging the greatness of others is the first step to progressing as a whole.

We thank you for your time and look forward to what's beyond tomorrow.

It’s on us to define it.

The project consists of a collaborative authorship. Yes, we get submissions for publishing - but in order for this to work, the platform has to exist for contributors to share their work. The first issue will contain content from a number of individuals and/or groups from the following countries: Argentina, Austria, Belarus, France, Israel, USA, and UK. We value and are excited to publish the divergent perspectives stemming from topics of future issues!

THANK YOU

Thank you to the writers, architects, and artists who have contributed their words, stories, and art to forwward.

Thank you to the committed forwward team who have dedicated their time and passion to the project: Forrest Whitmore, Juris Flores, and Abel Zatarain.

Risks and challenges

We fear that if a publication such as this does not exist, we risk remaining in a state of ideological and cultural stagnation - only exposed to the anemic voices of established architectural publishers.
