This project started over 10 years ago. Yikes. It has certainly been a labor of love, and many times, laboriously painful. It has undergone a staggering amount of peer revision which, unfortunately for me, has led to seven major revisions. There have been many nights, neck-deep in Illustrator, where I stood on the brink of insanity. Now, that I am through the 50th level of Dante's Inferno, I can proudly say, I have created a game that diehards and novices will love, and can even play together.
Like all avid gamers, I began to take note of what game mechanics really worked, and what didn't. As my life trajectory took me towards a career in the creative arts, it seemed natural to combine these two interests. The first thing I did was compile a list of the games I loved and what made them special.
So you now you know what I wanted to accomplish, and how many awesome game components you'll get, but now check out how the game is played. (Please watch the video for some more insight into the game nuances and really cool features)
Okay, so where is this project at?
The great news is, it's totally finished!
This isn't a project that I have a 'great' idea for and I just need money to complete it. It's ready for you to enjoy right now.
The biggest challenge, and it is huge, is the actual manufacturing of the game. It was a lucky mistake that I didn't know how costly chits, cards, and mats cost before I began, or else I would have ended up with a simpler version of Uno.
This is not a money making venture for me...maybe someday, but for now, I just want to get this game to people who love games. The truth is every game(without a large bulk order) is about 53.95 before shipping.
I fully understand that for this project to go anywhere, people who love games will need to share their experience with friends. And since I don't know all your awesome friends, I could never be as effective as all of us working together. There's no way I can do this alone and I am grateful for any supporter going on this journey with me. (I highlighted this section so that hopefully it catches your eye...it is important for me to be totally forthright about the cost of this game, because I understand that it is an investment)
Okay, so you probably want to know what kind of cool stuff you'll be getting...well here it, our really cool tshirt design.
This has been a huge undertaking. In many ways it has been exhausting, but ultimately I'm excited that it can finally be shared. Along this journey I've created so many cards, and card types, but sadly, not all of them made starter set. The cards included in this game provide the best well-rounded experience, and an endless amount of variety. However, as of right now, I have at least 30 more cards that are really exciting. They are more intense, crazy, and cause a lot of havoc and destruction, and they are a perfect addition for everyone that has already learned the game, and they will definitely be included in the first expansion pack, 'The Lost Vault.' I'm sharing this because this not just some project I tinkered on in my spare time, but rather, it is something that I hope to keep doing for a long time to come.
For every supporter who purchases the Blast from the Past perk or higher, I will include an extra card that will never be given out again, nor will the card's special ability ever be used again...plus, the artwork is a good example of what you can expect in the The Lost Vault expansion set.
A successful campaign would be such a sweet reward to cap off a marathon of a project, and it would allow me to continue adding sweet new cards to the game! I really want to do this, I think you'll love it too!
Other Ways You Can Help
I know that not everyone is in a place to get this game right now. That's totally okay! If you know anyone who loves games, point them this direction. I really believe that game players will see the work that went in to Furball Rampage and will love mechanics as much as I do.
I will compile relevant questions here that backers have asked me.
1) "How come I don't list the game at a price that is equal to that of the bulk order cost?"
I have attempted to that in two earlier iterations. There is nothing I'd love more than to get this out to people. That's all that I really care about. The fact is, this is probably my last go at this, so I don't want to stress out hoping for the whole goal to be met(minimum bulk order). Compared to game like Exploding Kittens that cost around 20 bucks just for the most recent expansion set of 12 cards, this is a huge value. At that rate, this game would cost about 300 dollars! I am really happy with this product, and at this point, I just want to get it to anyone who wants it. Hence, my one to one product pricing for this campaign.
Risks and challenges
None!! That's the great part. The game is done and when the campaign is complete, the order will be sent out. There have been so many risks and challenges along the way. Honestly, it would take too long to mention the personal financing I contributed, the insane amount of personal time, the frustrations, the learning curve, etc.
That's all behind me now. I want to give you this game, and I hope that you love it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
