Thank you so much for funding "Deep and Shallow"!! We started charting out the music yesterday. Mitch, Mike, John, and I will be working hard on the pre-production until the last week of may. Then we will start our sessions! Mitch is currently taking submissions for T-shirt artwork and Posters. (show us what you got! send submissions to Hazyray@live.com) I have posted a few videos so you can hear the quality of musicians that you are backing, and so you can see how much fun we have doing what we do! Show them to your friends and let them know that every dollar counts. We have what we NEED. With that said money=time, the more we have, the more hours we can put into making this album amazing! Thank you again for making this project possible!!!!!!!!!! We will never forget this experience or any of you!!
WHAT IS "DEEP AND SHALLOW"?
The upcoming album, "Deep and Shallow" is an important collection of songs to me. The project starts with several songs that articulate the story of a shallow, impulsive, fast burning relationship that meets its demise. Toward the end of the impulsive fling, the character starts to realize he is his own worst enemy. The second act of this album is comprised of beautiful introspective tunes, as well as a few pieces that address real outward issues in the young man's life. The album has sexy songs, romantic tunes, brutally honest lyrics, energetic tracks, and artistic revelations with gorgeous melodies. It is something I need to record, and these musicians, together, need to be heard. I really can't thank the people reading this enough for considering funding this project.
WHO WE ARE:
I met Josh Ray about five years ago while sitting in on a gig at The Republic Steakhouse (www.therepublic1836.com). Josh was scheduled to play during our breaks, and as soon as I heard him perform... I was hooked. I immediately picked up my trombone and walked back to my microphone. I turned to look at Josh, he grinned, and with a mutual nod- we played. Little did we know, that first jam session would be the start of a musical journey that would lead us to record "Deep and Shallow."
Over the course of the next few years, Josh and I grew closer as musicians and friends. I have an incredibly high amount of respect for Josh Ray, and I admire his perseverance. I could not agree more when he writes that this album, and these songs, NEED to be recorded. His lyrics and our music NEED to be heard.
In a business with no guarantee and slim chances to attain the unattainable, we are trying to "Leave a musical footprint before we go." It wasn't too long before Josh and I were out and about. We were traveling together, playing gigs together and looking for dedicated and talented musicians to join us in our dream.
Enter Saint John Wesley.
The Saint, a drummer from Ft. Worth, Texas, with a performer's presence you simply CANNOT MISS. From being the motor in our songs to our motor from a business perspective, John's creative imagination cannot be topped. The third member in our band, has a capability to combine rhythmic activity with melody that I was unaware existed. This innate musicality, in addition to his unparalleled tenacity, makes Wesley the perfect addition to this band.
We love and appreciate music. We LOVE our music. And we would love nothing more than to touch other's lives with our blessings and abilities as other musicians and performers have touched ours.
- Mike Hayes
WHAT WE DO:
Hazy Ray enthusiastically plays pop/alternative songs while tastefully infusing blues colors and jazz voicing with well written relatable lyrics. Whether you are hearing one of their many original tunes or one of their re-engineered minimalist covers, their melodies will be stuck in your head.
FOR A TASTE GO TO:
Kickstarter is set up on the "pledge" system. We set our campaign for 4,000 dollars. If we succeed, then your account will be drafted for your pledge amount only after the deadline. However, if we have 3,999 dollars at 7:05pm on May 26th, no one gets paid because your account will not be drafted.
He is a god sent Double Bass Player that has decided to commit to Hazy Ray. More info will be posted on our site when we have it. For now, all you need to know is, he is amazing at what he does, and he is down for the long haul.
I suppose that is up to us. If you have donated, I suggest you comment and tell us what kind you want, or else we will go by Halloween code. (section B paragraph 13 sub-paragraph 7 of the Halloween Code states: If only variety packs are purchased for the kids, the purchaser has the right to pick through and keep all the good candy leaving only the unwanted candy for the children) (totally kidding) let us know what kind you want :)
The details are a bit fuzzy. Some say that Saint John Wesley founded the Methodist Church, but that is a common misconception. We recommend that you consult the Vatican for an accurate transcript of the 3 miracles that he performed while he was technically alive. (He's a vampire)
Until we receive more information, we are operating under the assumption that his parents didn't think he needed one. He's that cool.
Rock Romano's Red Shack Studio and Red Frog Audio @ Wire Road Studio mostly because our favorite color is red. (Actually, between Rock and Mike T, they have all the experience and up-to-date know-how that we will ever need. Both studios offer competitively priced blocks that are a steal for what and who we are getting. They are also really cool.)
That is absolutely False. That was a completely different band with all the same members plus one Seth T. (may he rest in peace up there in the great musical retirement community in the sky. aka-Denver)
