Ever wonder what it’s like in those “coffeeshops” in Amsterdam where it’s legal to buy and use marijuana? This book will take you on an armchair journey into dozens of these establishments. Game designer Andy Looney has been exploring the coffeeshop scene during numerous trips to this charming little city over the course of the past twenty years. Andy will show you around his favorite spots, sharing stories from his adventures and his impressions of the city.

Page of the Day: Day 23: Souvenirs
Today we see our last excerpt of the book, page 168. This is the first of four pages about things Andy likes to bring home as souvenirs. Other pages include a photo of more than two dozen lighters from coffeeshops which Andy has collected, and a photo-collage of Andy wearing T-shirts from ten of his favorite coffeeshops. This project is nearly complete. Andy has finished writing the book and the proof-readers are reviewing the final draft. By the time the campaign ends, it will be ready to go to the printer. But we don’t know how many copies to make!
We plan to go to press in May and expect to have the printed books in hand about 9 weeks later, in August. Then our fulfillment partners will ship them out and backers should have their copies before the end of September.
We have divided the shipping choice into four options: UNITED STATES (which is our home country, so shipping is much cheaper for us), the EUROPEAN UNION (for which we have a shipping partner that allows us to offer excellent shipping rates in the EU), CANADA (for which it is cheaper for us to ship out of the UK than from the US), and the REST OF THE WORLD (which costs us a lot more, so we are charging more... sorry).
The fee you pay us for shipping will cover the shipping cost but will NOT cover import fees and taxes. We don't have control over these fees in Canada and any countries outside of the EU. We also cannot try to pretend the mailing is a gift in order to try to avoid these fees for you. Sorry.
The Stretch Goals for this project will be postcards featuring photos from the book. The first will be unlocked as soon as the campaign is funded and more cards will be added to the set everyone gets each time we hit another goal level. The total number of cards in the set will depend on how many funding levels we pass. The image for each postcard will be released as the stretch goals are met.

About The Author:
Andrew Looney is the company's Chief Creative Officer and is the inventor of most of the products that they sell. Before becoming a game designer, Andy was a computer programmer, first spending eight years at NASA (he wrote software that flew in space on the Hubble Telescope in 1993), then spending two years working for Magnet Interactive Studios (where he created and coded a video game called Icebreaker, published in 1995). Andy graduated from the University of Maryland in 1986, with a BS in Computer Science. Andy is the designer of Fluxx® (and most of its awesome iterations, including: Math Fluxx, Firefly™ Fluxx, Stoner Fluxx, Batman™ Fluxx, and Monty Python™ Fluxx), Mad Libs®: The Game, Chrononauts, Aquarius, Loonacy, and Pyramid Arcade (which was successfully funded on Kickstarter last year).
About Fully Baked Ideas:
Andy and Kristin Looney have been creating games together under the company name Looney Labs since 1997. Fully Baked Ideas is an imprint of Looney Labs which was created to publish Stoner Fluxx and other adult themed games. This imprint allows the company to fully separate the marketing of these adult themed products from the marketing of their family games.
Risks and challenges
We are an established publisher with a lot of experience creating, printing, and shipping card and board games. We have also successfully funded and shipped two other Kickstarter projects, most recently the 456% funded Pyramid Arcade. However, we are fairly new to making books, so we are going to be working with new printing partners on this project, which always presents some extra risks. That said, we are certain we can work out any kinks that come up in the process. We have built a large amount of extra time into the schedule to allow for any delays that crop up, Andy has completed the book so that we can send it to the printer as soon as the campaign ends, and we are hopeful that we will be delivering your rewards even earlier than planned! We feel that the risks are minimal. The only issue that could be of concern is the simple fact that the subject matter is taboo, and you never know what attention that might draw.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
