About this project
Tweegi is a super-condensed typeface family with Regular and Italic styles, intended for use in headlines, highlights and short paragraphs. It has a fashionable and classic look that is inherited from the Caslon types, mixed with contemporary and friendly approach. It has been designed to work in both web and print media at display sizes.
The idea for making a font comes from the most exotic places, it’s not just some sketches made with a pencil on a paper, sometimes by looking at a picture you can have the idea that finally ends being a type design project. In this case the original idea for Tweegi comes from 2009 when I made an experimental super compressed monoline font called Super C:
This Super C font came from watching the picture of a really skinny model, that in someway shocked me. One day late last year, I was reviewing some of my earlier type design work, and looking for fonts that I could update with the knowledge I have acquired over the years working on fonts.
When I looked back at Super C, I thought that I should try to give it a more feminine and delicate look that could work better with my original concept. Adding serifs and a strong stroke contrast (so some parts of the letters are much thicker than the others) seemed to be the logical way to go. The results is the first prototype for Tweegi!
As soon as you start a new project, new challenges come with it, in this case it was impossible to maintain the same with of the font - it became unreadable. New proportions were required, so I started drawing again. Right now Tweegi has had 20 revisions since then. Type design is a really dynamic process, and every revision brings new things to consider.
The project will perfect the design and increase language support. The planned character set will have over 700 glyphs to supports at least 105 latin languages. Typographic extras like small caps and old style, tabular and proportional numbers will be included as OpenType Features. Of course this work will be done with equal care and attention for both styles.
Please note that your contribution will be paid to ‘TeX Users Group’ (firstname.lastname@example.org). TUG enables me to receive the funds outside the USA, as I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Risks and challenges
If this project reaches the funding goal of $4,000, it will be published in the Google Web Fonts directory. That means Tweegi and all its features will be FREE FOR EVERYONE to use as they please. So please help me make this font a reality, so it could be shared with all the type enthusiasts, type user, design professionals, fashion bloggers, magazine editors, photographers and everybody who likes it!
If the project reaches beyond the goal, my first stretch goal is to develop a set of regular and discretionary ligatures and contextual alternates, to help you make your headline shine. The amount of these will depend on how much more funding is raised by this Kickstarter.
If we reach beyond $6,000 then I will create an Bold weight for both styles!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Roger Foss asked, will you include the special characters used in the Nordic languages, ie. Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland...? that would surely affect the decision of potential sponsors from those countries. The characters include æ (combo of a and e),
