About this project
Hey Kickstarters, thank you for your support in making this a successful project.
Please keep in touch with us either through our website or social media, we're always developing new products:
Please take a look at our Slider, fall in love with it (it's been called an inspirational game changer), back it and tell others.
So what is PMG-Duo Slider? PMG-Duo Slider is basically a dual action slider having one curved and one straight track. Made out of one solid piece of aluminum weighing 15 pounds, cut down to under three pounds (the 24inch version) all via CNC machine.
The simplicity, portability and ruggedness of this slider will inspire you to take it everywhere with you as it adds that much production value.
- Slider Length (specs for 24inch) - 24 inches
- Travel - 20 inches
- Folded height 1.5 inches
- Use build in legs or attach to tripods/support in middle or ends on each side
- 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 mounting threads in carriage and track centers
- 24-inch Slider body weight 2.15 lbs = 975g
- 24-inch Fully assembled slider with legs/knobs - 2.91 lbs = 1320g
- 36-inch Slider body weight 3.33 lbs = 1510g
- Carriage weight - 0.69 lbs = 313g

Total Length with Knobs/legs 27 inches (remove stands slider core 24-inch long.
How to use it? Let's say the curved side is on top and you have the carriage attached to it, to flip to other side you open up the carriage (it works like a clamp) flip the slider, rotate the side support legs into position and reattach the carriage. If it's on a tripod, detach carriage, detach from tripod, attach slider to other side, clamp on the carriage.
What makes it special? The curve let's you do some special shots that otherwise would be impossible or very difficult to do. It can add that special spice in otherwise boring video. Besides we don't think there is a slider out there that has both features in one body.
Why we need the money? Well, we have a 24-inch working prototypes ready, from that it shouldn't be too hard to manufacture the 36 and 48, and maybe even 60-inch models. Your support will help fund first production runs. Also we would like to sell them at very competitive price for such a invention and projecting quantities goes a long way in final pricing. We're ready to start manufacturing the 24-inch version in limited quantities and following a successful campaign we can spend more money making it available worldwide. Additionally 36 and 48 inch versions will also be made.
We're getting quotes on Travel Case and it should be available as reward in next few days.
Production and fulfillment plan: When funding is successful we can immediately start production of these sliders with capacity of 25 units per day for 24-inch version, 20 units per day for 36-inch, and 15 units per day of 48-inch versions. All units will be machined at our CNC machining center. Assembly of these sliders is pretty straight forward as the main arm is just one solid piece with two end adapters, four legs and four knobs. We do have 24-inch prototypes as you can see them in the video. We will be able to start shipping 24-inch units latter half of April 2014. Will need two more weeks for 36 and two more for 48-inch versions.
UPDATE: Now we have a quick way of attaching the slider to the tripod and flipping it. See below the Slider Clamp. We recommend using two for 36 and 48 inch sliders. One is fine in center for 24-inch, as long as your load on sides is not extreme.
Carrying Case, we're looking into different designs, will post one by end of the Project.
Who we are? ProMediaGear was founded 5 years ago by team of three brothers. Years ago we were shooting weddings and owning a small machining company we constantly complained that all photo accessories are overpriced pieces of junk. So naturally we have done what any other person in our situation would do, we made our own. Now we just need a little help making our newest invention the PMG-DUO Slider. This slider as well as other products we make all all Made in USA.
Risks and challenges
We do have a lot of experience machining parts, but there are of course challenges to overcome. The biggest one is that we want to be aggressive pricing this slider and with low quantities that won't be possible. We do control the production but we still need money to plan it well. The worst is when we rush things and that is when things tend to go wrong. We'll take our time and make it a great project. The other sizes delivery dates are reflected in reward descriptions.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
