The wait is over - the second wave of the super popular 100% Orange Juice character plushies is here! Based on the characters from developer Orange Juice's games, we are excited to introduce six new plushie models!
After the massive success of the first plushie campaign, which raised 817% of the funding goal on Kickstarter alone, we've been working behind the scenes to answer the cry for more character options. After much polling, internal discussion, design and prototyping work, we're now happy to present 6 new character plushies with finished prototypes!
Update: all stretch goals unlocked! Thank you so much!
We've put what we learned from the first campaign to good use, and aim to make this one even smoother, leaner and cooler!
To cover each character plushie's production costs, the initial goal of the campaign will see the first 2 character produced: Marc from Flying Red Barrel, and Aru from Xmas Shooting series, both main characters in their own right!
If additional funding goals are reached, Tomomo (Sweet Eater), Alte, Saki and Ceoreparque will be added to the campaign!
At the end of the campaign, backers can choose between any newly unlocked characters, and the 6 characters from the first plushie campaign: Marie Poppo, Suguri, Sora, Star Breaker, QP and Hime.
This time we have prototyped all of the plushies in advance, so unlocking new ones via stretch goals will not delay the scheduled delivery.
Only your Kickstarter backing will allow us to produce these plushies at this affordable price point!
As previously, the new plush toy designs are created by the original character artist, Hono from Orange Juice, for the purpose of this campaign. We are partnered with the U.S.-based Symbiote Studios, who also produced the first 6 plushie models, for the production of the plushies.
The plush toys will be approximately 10 inches (25cm) tall. They have been designed to sit upright on their own without support. In addition, all plushies have small hidden magnets in their hand to allow them to hold various accessories (including those that come with the plushies).
In our first plushie wave's post-campaign survey, 57% of the backers stated they were "super happy" with the plushies' looks and quality, and 99% of backers answered either "super Happy", "pretty happy" or "they're OK", with only 1% "worse than expected" and 0% "very unhappy."
You can find pictures of the plushie prototypes in the Gallery. Please note that these prototypes are not final products, and there may be differences to the final product. The rewards will be manufactured using these samples as the prototype, but employing different processes - for example the sample hair has some visible issues stemming from manual production, but during production, the final fabric will be made with a professional die cut machine to keep it together smoothly.
The Kickstarter campaign goal of $13,000 will cover the initial production cost of the minimum number of Marc and Aru plushies. The plushies will be produced solely based on the Kickstarter orders, and possible leftover stock will be made available from our online store afterwards for the estimated retail price of $45-49 depending on the production cost of each character.
We are also making 4 additional characters - Tomomo (Sweet Eater), Alte, Saki and Ceoreparque - available as stretch goals at price points that allow us to cover their initial production cost! All the rewards allow you to choose any combination of plushies you want, including any of the 6 plushies of the first campaign, so if stretch goals are met, those new characters will be available for your selection after the campaign, as well.
Regarding the unit and hyper card stretch goals, we were a little unhappy with their end quality last time both in terms of paper quality and sleeves, so the new unit and hyper cards that were unlocked as a stretch goal will be produce this time as thicker "game cards", and they will be packed in hard plastic "top-loader" sleeves to prevent them from bending.
You can freely nominate any unlocked characters as your selection at the end of the campaign, without needing to change tiers.
The Accessory stretch were all met! They unlock a free bonus accessory for the named characters. Designs aren't yet finalized and the specific accessories are subject to change. Please look in the campaign updates for more info on them.
One more plushie!
If you wish to receive an additional plushie (or two) in your tier, simply add the following to your pledge:
$36 - 1 plushie (+ $14 for shipping) add $50 total to pledge
$70 - 2 plushies (+ $20 for shipping) add $90 total to pledge
Full list of new plushies:
Hime, Star Breaker, QP, Marie Poppo, Sora, Suguri plushies are also available from wave 1.
There are 3 different high quality fabric 100% Orange Juice wall scrolls available in B2 size:
You may add any combination of the three wall scrolls to your order by simply adding the following to your order:
$35 - 1 Wall Scroll (+ $15 for shipping) add $50 total to pledge
$70 - 2 Wall Scrolls (+ $20 for shipping) add $90 total to pledge
$95 - 3 Wall Scrolls (+ $25 for shipping) add $120 total to pledge
All the wall scrolls are made in Japan. Note that it's also possible to help the campaign by ordering wall scrolls alone by pledging on the $1 tier and then adding the cost of the wall scroll add-on.
We will confirm all add-on contents in the survey after the campaign is finished.
The initial production cost for the minimum amount of plushies will be approximately $8.000. Since shipping is included in the amount raised on Kickstarter, it raises our goal accordingly. The exact amount we can put toward the production depends on the tiers all of you back (we especially recommend the double plushie pack for the cheapest shipping!).
The estimate that enables us to produce these goods is the same as before:
Based on last time, we expect the production of the plushies to take up to three months from the campaign ending, and full delivery to take a total of 4-5 months.
Note that we have already prototyped all 6 plushies that may be produced in advance, so if additional models are unlocked, it won't create any significant delays this time, and they can all be shipped together.
We are working together with Interweave Productions, LLC. on the U.S. based operations of the campaign.
The shipping cost will be $15 per unit to anywhere in the world, with a double pack containing 2 plushies costing $20 to ship. For the 1-plushie tier, we cover $1 of the shipping cost to bring the price of the pledge down to a nice round $50.
The shipping cost also includes handling fees - our Kickstarter campaign has been calculated to raise the exact minimum to cover everything from production to shipping and handling at no profit to ourselves.
Unfortunately, due to import laws and customs, WE CAN NOT SHIP TO: Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, as well as active war zones.
If you are unable to pledge on Kickstarter but still wish to support the campaign, you may do so via PayPal here.
NOTE: Please be extra careful in placing your pledge via PayPal, as it cannot be modified afterwards. Bear in mind that stretch goals include additional characters that may be unlocked, so plan accordingly!
We will confirm PayPal order contents after the campaign ends via a separate e-mail survey.
PayPal pledges will remain available for a short time after campaign until Kickstarter payments have been processed, and will then be disabled.
If you are a retailer who would like to sell a large number of the plushies, please message us regarding bulk orders and redistribution.
Risks and challenges
This campaign is run based on the first, massively successful plushie campaign, and we have aimed to keep its design equally simple. We have already negotiated the production of plushies and received samples of them to confirm the quality. At this point in time, we have successfully run 3 separate Kickstarter campaigns, so we have a good understanding of the process and risks, and although we only have a small number of staff, we can be confident in our ability to deliver a product our backers can be happy with.
The most likely risks save for Acts of God are unforeseen delays in production or shipping.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
