Who is Danny Husk?
Danny Husk, for those who didn’t come of age in the late eighties and early nineties is a character made famous on the hilarious Kids in the Hall comedy series. Danny is a mildly successful businessman with a positive attitude and a glorious mustache, Danny, played by comedian Scott Thompson, is an affable everyman who gets the job done…So if you’re a long time fan of Danny’s or Scott’s or just discovering either or both, now is your chance to be part of comic history, pun intended.
So, what is the story in the second volume?
Picking up right where the first graphic novel ended, HUSK Vol.2: A Crack In It continues the misadventures of not only Danny Husk at the center of the Earth but the woman on the surface he left behind.
Who's working on this project?
The story is written by Mr Danny Husk himself, Scott Thompson (Kids in the Hall, Hannibal, The Colbert Report). The script adaptation is handled by Stephan Nilson (The Pound, Smallville: Justice and Doom, Batman Strikes). The art is by Kyle Morton (Husk: The Hollow Planet, Shots in the Dark). Colors by Romulo Fajardo Jr (The Pound, G.I. Joe, Witchblade), with letters and design by the incomparable Charles Pritchett (The Pound, Krampus, and Harvey Pekar's "Not the Israel My Parents Promised Me.") We also have a few surprise artists working on pinups and promotional material, for Kickstarter and convention exclusives.
What do you get for pledging?
Of course we want you to give as much as you are able to, and in return we want to make it worth your while. Here's a short list of the rewards. Details for each tier are to the right.
So, where will your donations help out in this massive undertaking?
That's a great question. As independent creators for the last decade we've struggled with trying to keep our projects going and off the ground. We hope through of the gift of Kickstarter that we can keep the dream alive and continue with the story of Danny Husk.
All of the money we gain from this Kickstarter project will go straight into the production of the book. We have a great staff of talented people working on this book, but they are people and need to eat. So we must pay them. You will be helping us keep the production going, and make a beautiful and funny book.
Risks and challenges
We have gone to great lengths to limit our risks and challenges in this Kickstarter campaign. We have looked at the numbers over and over again to assure that we're asking only for what we need, rather than what we want. Here's where we stand:
The book is already in productions. Truthfully the urgency of the story is such that it continues to unfold as if it has a life of it’s own. Scott is two thirds of the way through the script and Kyle has already done some preliminary sketches for the new characters. We are eager to give you this offering because that will clear the way for part three of the story to start downloading into Scott’s head. Yes, there is a volume three. It’s a trilogy after all.
As with all endeavors, though, we cannot account for… well, the unaccountable. Delays may occur in production, shipping, or the like. As it stands now, if this project is successfully funded, we'll be seeing production of much of the premiums during the summer (i.e. Convention Season, for those of us in the comics industry), and this may lead to minor delays. In the event of any such instances, we will keep all of our supporters informed through updates via Kickstarter, Twitter (@FBStudios), and the Frozen Beach Studios Facebook page.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
