The long-awaited English launch of Frontwing's visual novel ISLAND is nearly here: the game releases on Steam on Friday, August 24! The anime adaptation of the game is also currently airing in Japan and streaming in English simultaneously on Crunchyroll! This campaign offers an exclusive chance to get your hands on box sets of both the game and anime, decked out with plenty of special goodies not available anywhere else.
We look forward to your help in making this unique opportunity to share ISLAND with fans across the globe!
The anime adaptation of Frontwing's beloved visual novel ISLAND is finally here, and with it comes the long-awaited English PC release of the original game! Featuring artwork by Kuchuu Yousai and a story by G.O., the original game is one of Frontwing's highest-rated titles around the world, and the anime adaptation directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi of animation studio feel has been extremely well-received.
The anime is currently airing in English on Crunchyroll simultaneously with the Japanese broadcast, and we wanted to work with them to create a special opportunity for fans to get their hands on special deluxe Blu-Ray box sets of the anime featuring special bonuses that we otherwise wouldn't be able to make available. Similarly, we wanted to offer an English version of the upcoming physical re-release of the original game, complete with an all-new artbook chock full of interviews and background information about the game. We also have some additional goodies in the higher tiers exclusive to the campaign!
To complement these, and to help ensure we hit our goal, we're also offering a number of different tiers to help you get exactly what you want. Feel free to mix and match how you like, and above all else please enjoy the ISLAND experience! We also have a number of stretch goals planned for the campaign - see below for more information about those!
Urashima is a small island, far from mainland Japan. It's a true utopia, blessed with rich natural beauty. But the island harbors a difficult past, and it's about to be erased, silently, from history.
Soot blight syndrome, an endemic disease, has brought about a rift between the island and the mainland. An offshore platform intended for marine research has long been left abandoned; five years ago, three separate incidents brought the once influential Three Families of Urashima to near ruin. Rumors about children being spirited away have become part of the local folklore, alongside another legend, one that has been repeated on the island since time immemorial...
"Let me tell you the legend of this island: it's a story of tragic love..."
The key to saving the island lies with three girls, each of whom belongs to one of the Three Families. These girls aren't able to change the fate of the island by themselves, but might they succeed with the help of the young man who's just washed ashore?
Claiming that he's traveled back in time, the man immediately sets out on a lonely path, challenging the longstanding traditions of the island, and seeking to change the future. But those aren't his only goals...
How will his presence transform the lives of these three girls, the future of the island, and the fate of the world...?
For ISLAND's anime adaptation, the eponymous island of Urashima was modeled after Japanese isle Niijima. The production team visited Niijima in preparation for the anime, so if you ever visit, you're sure to see a few familiar sites! Check out the video below, or this article on Crunchyroll, for a closer look at a few real-life vistas that inspired some of ISLAND's beautiful scenery.
The ISLAND anime adaptation is airing now on Crunchyroll!
The Blu-Ray set is expected to ship by February 2019.
Please note that the Blu-ray set available in this campaign will only include Japanese audio and English subtitles.

ISLAND is the first game G.O. has worked on with Frontwing. Since the release of his previous hit, "Himawari", G.O. has continued working in various media, including manga. He is particularly known for the delicately sketched settings and well-paced conversations he uses to draw readers into his stories.

Risks and challenges
Both the game and anime are already in production, so we feel confident in being able to deliver the game content to backers on the planned release date.
Our biggest challenge is the production of high-quality rewards for the campaign, but we have many years of experience in merchandise production as well as established business relationships with a number of manufacturing companies, and we are confident we will be able to meet and exceed the expectations of our backers.
We are aware of concerns backers may have regarding our ability to fulfill physical rewards in a timely manner. We have recently taken substantial steps in handling our current backlog of crowdfunding project fulfillment. We have updated each of these campaigns with final shipping schedules, and have a concrete plan laid out to finalize production all of our current campaigns by this September, and shipping by November. Once these are complete, production and shipping will be able to easily begin with no delay for the rewards for this campaign.
We are committed to deliver all the latest information about production and shipping status via project updates, and hope to show with this project that we are more than capable of fulfilling reward promises on schedule.
