Wyrd Bið Ful Aræd
-- “The Wanderer,” from the Exeter Book
Beneath the leaden winter skies of the Northlands wyrd is fate, and fate is inexorable. Wyrd bið ful aræd.
Where raging storms sent by malevolent spirits of the Ginnungagap howl from the Far North and bury steadings and towns alike under several feet of snow, while unnamed things of tooth and shadow hunt those who dare to emerge and brave the cold. Where the blood of fighting men and women sings in harmony with the death cries of the spear-din, and the clash of wood and steel when the shield walls meet. Where enchantments older than the race of Men linger in barrow fields and primeval forests waiting to ensnare the unwary or the foolish. This is the realm of the Norns, where they measure and cut the threads of a man’s wyrd. This is the Northlands.
A Howl From The North
The Northlands Saga Complete picks up where the Northlands Saga series of adventures released in 2010 and 2011 left off. Created by fan favorite author Kenneth Spencer and extensively developed by Greg A. Vaughan, these four adventures first introduced Frog God Games fans to the barbaric Northlands, the stalwart folk who dwell there, and the perils from savage beast and demon alike that they face.
Now The Northlands Saga Complete updates and expands those original adventures with new material, completing the saga with six more adventures by Ken Spencer, Greg Vaughan, and Kevin Wright that follow directly after the originals. If you want, you can resume campaigns that “ended” after the last adventure was released in 2011, or start fresh. In addition, an eleventh new adventure is added as a “prequel” to the original four, so you can play an entire adventure path to take PCs from level 1 to 20 (about level 1 to 9 in the Swords & Wizardry version). You can play any or all of the eleven adventures as standalone sessions, or you can use them as a single continuous campaign to explore the Northlands and beyond. And as a bonus, authors Ed Greenwood, Ken Spencer, Kevin Wright, and Jeff Provine have committed to write four more adventures as stretch goals to take your campaign beyond the adventure path. This book has an estimated page count of 800-900 pages (this will vary depending on the number of stretch goals reached), and will be library bound, for years of use.
As a part of the Lost Lands campaign world, The Northlands Saga Complete includes a full-color poster map as well as a complete campaign guide detailing the cultures, history, races, nations, languages, geography, new monsters, magic, and equipment unique to those lands. In the Pathfinder version there is also a chapter dedicated to new optional rules that you can use in your game to capture the authentic spirit of the Northlands with rules for things like a character’s wyrd, death speeches, becoming a jarl, the examples of early representative politics in the Things and Althing, and trial by combat in the holmgang. In addition there are a multitude of new archetypes, feats, player-character races, and character traits for use in your Pathfinder game! When you delve into The Northlands Saga Complete, you step into the living, breathing world of the Northlands.
Take your wyrd by the throat. With The Northlands Saga Complete you can break a shield wall on trampled fields or pull a sweep upon gray icy seas to find new shores to explore or raid. Live the adventure; complete the saga!

$12 Softcover/$5 PDF - A Long Winter's Night 1: The Teeth of Winter by Kenneth Spencer
Gather round the hearth fire while the winter wind blows at the eves of the hall, and listen to the words of the skald as he begins the story-chant.
When we got to the end of writing The Northlands Saga Complete, we realized they were still so many stories to tell. So when this stretch goal is unlocked a new appendix for stand-alone adventures will be added to the book, including the first adventure The Teeth of Winter. Created by the original mastermind behind the Northlands Saga, Kenneth Spencer, this adventure tells a tale of cold and fear as the players characters come upon a mead hall in the depths of winter, destroyed by some unknown beast or force. It tells the tale of Beowulf...if the legendary hero had arrived too late. And it pits the PCs against a horror worse than the worst winter storm.
$12 Softcover/$5 PDF - A Long Winter's Night 2: The Raid by Jeff Provine
Long have the Northlanders preyed upon the soft southern shores for their raiding and pillage. But when they bring their fleet of dragon-prowed longships to one coastal town, they discover an alliance deadly beyond any that they could have imagined, and the draw of battle and plunder becomes a fight for the very survival of these raiders from the sea. Jeff Provine, author of Tales of the Lost Lands for Cults of the Sundered Kingdoms and The Northlands Saga Complete brings this tale of unexpected peril to life for your players.
$12 Softcover/$5 PDF - A Long Winter's Night 3: The Drowned Maiden by Kevin Wright
Northlanders know that the sea goddess Rán and her mysterious daughters are the bane of all who sail upon the North Sea. When a ship goes down, it is Rán and her daughters who pull the sailors beneath the waves to comfort them in the cold embrace of the depths. With this stretch goal, Kevin wright, author of Quests of Doom, The Northlands Saga Complete, and Tales of the Lost Lands brings the tale of what happens when one of the daughters of Rán decides that the love of a mortal is more interesting than watching his drowning death throes, and murder, intrigue, and love collide in The Drowned Maiden.
$12 Softcover/$5 PDF - A Long Winter's Night 4: Oath of the Predator by James M. Spahn
Thorvald the Wanderer has been dead for a generation, though in his time came out of the wild places of the world to bring peace and justice to those who lived on the edge of untamed lands. As his reputation grew he drew the service of several loyal retainers – none more loyal than Ivar the Stout. Ivar became his closest friend and loyal bodyguard. Together they drove back the fell things of the great forest including a great many predators who were corrupted with some terrible malady whose source went undiscovered for decades. Predators of all manner seemed to crawl from the shadows with a taste for the flesh of men, elves and other sentient beings. They were keen and cunning beyond the intelligence of normal animals.
$12 Softcover/$5 PDF - A Long Winter's Night 5: The Hidden Huscarl by Casey Christofferson
Not long ago the Sea Bear, a longship captained by Tjorvi Thurgurson, the nephew of the legendary jarl and explorer Hallbjorn Bolverkson arrived in Bard’s Gate. The Sea Bear came loaded with pelts of great cats, otters, and beaver of prodigious size as well as plumage of birds never seen before in the Southlands. Tjorvi claims that the items were gathered from the mythical Oestryn Islands, and has boasted that many more riches from the legendary isles would be brought for trade.
Tjorvi’s great boasts soon caught the attention of many of the city's underworld interests, and he was approached by Duloth who made a lucrative offer to Tjorvi for cartage of goods from Freegate to Bard’s Gate. The brash young Northlander, not recognizing Duloth for whom he was, pushed the crime boss from the gunwale of the Sea Bear into the canal, embarrassing him in front of many witnesses. Incensed at the affront, Duloth swore his revenge and before the sun rose again on the following day, Tjorvi had gone missing from the deck of the Sea Bear.
This adventure links the main continent of the Lost Lands and Bard’s Gate to the Northlands campaign! Those of our fans who have spent years adventuring in Rappan Athuk, Stoneheart Valley, and the Bard’s Gate area can easily import the Northlands into their game using this transitional module.

We had the option of collecting shipping fees during this Kickstarter campaign or through BackerKit. We have decided to collect shipping fees through BackerKit for the following reasons:
- 1. Collecting shipping fees during the campaign artificially increases the funding level of the campaign.
- 2. Collecting shipping fees through BackerKit prevents our backers from having to pre-pay for shipping months in advance.
- 3. By collecting shipping fees shortly before fulfillment, we will be able to most accurately determine shipping costs based on actual book weights instead of estimating.
All backers are required to pay additional shipping charges beyond their pledge. Please refer to FAQ at the bottom of the page for estimated shipping charges. These charges will be assessed for payment upon completion of a BackerKit survey which will sent after the successful conclusion of this Kickstarter.

Risks and challenges
The manuscript of this book is fully written and edited for PFRPG. Completed art pieces and the Swords & Wizardry conversions are rolling in on schedule, but do have to be complete before we can finish the final layout steps. Delays in art delivery or rules-conversion could cause delays in the book's completion (and thus on delivery dates). We anticipate that if something goes awry with these final steps, the delay would not exceed one month.
Other than conversion delays, our only other foreseeable risk is if our production facility gets backlogged. Our printer is a large producer of college text books and yearbooks, so depending on the time of year they can have a suddenly busy production schedule. We have been using them for our big books for the last 5 years, and they have always been reliable, but if our order gets caught in a text or yearbook crush it can cause delays in the printing. This has not been a problem to date but is always a remote possibility, and we wanted to be transparent with you about it.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
