It's an Update!!!! Part Deux

Posted by Frog God Games (Creator)

As I type this with my wasted arthritic fingers, all the backers who ordered Bloody Jack should hopefully have received the pdf of it to allow them to get their first real glimpses into the perverse degeneracy that is The Blight.

As a quick point of information I'll just say that I ran the adventure, pretty much in its entirety, 3 times in 2010 (I think it was) at NTRPG Con, Pacificon, and Paizo Con as a multi-day event at each one and received great feedback and reviews from the players. It's a's a horror's a tragedy.;.it's a...weekday in the Blight, all rolled into one. Leadjunkie of NTRPGCon, the FGG message boards, and the old Necromancer Games message boards fame told me on Day 2 of the event that he had spent a great deal of time over the night pondering the adventure up to that point and trying to solve the mystery and figure out where it was going. I took that as high praise indeed, so I hope all of you have a similarly positive experience with it.

Master Altbauer is working on the final map for Horror in the Sinks, Master Gaona is finishing the cover painting for The Crucible, and many edits, conversions, etc. remain underway. As soon as I get the cover back from Felipe, I'll get The Crucible in the pipeline to get distributed to the backers as well. I ran an abbreviated version of it at Reaper Con this year, and it was well received as well. So look for it next.

On that note, however, I must share a little bit of bad news (I've learned in my Geriatrics clerkship that you're supposed to say "serious news", but I'm gonna' stick with bad for the moment).

I am scheduled to take my Step2 boards exam on 11/29, and it's kinda' important because if you don't pass it you can't go on into residency. Based on a practice test I took last night, I am not where I need to be in order to pass it. So now that Bloody Jack is out, I'm going to take a step back from Blight stuff for the next 12 days in order to crank away at test prep for the 29th. I apologize for doing so, as I was hoping to be able to continue to split my time between clerkship duties during the day and test prep and Blight work in the evenings. However, the results are showing me that my plan of work-work balance isn't working too well.

So I will be pretty quiet for the next couple of weeks (yeah, I know I've been quiet before but I wanted to try the novel approach of giving you a heads up first this time) while I get that stuff finished up. I will, however, keep an eye out for the completion of The Crucible so we can get that distributed to you as well as soon as it's ready, and then once the test has been finished I'll be able to be much more focused on The Blight alone. And, I have set up a lot of pieces in motion that will continue to be in motion even without me checking in on them constantly, so The Blight work will continue. I'll just be stepping back from my part for 12 days.

Again, I apologize for the delays and truly appreciate the amazing patience that you've had for us at FGG and me in particular on this project.

In the meantime, here's some more Tome of Blighted Horrors. Enjoy!

      @Nathan Huck

I haven't received a download link for Bloody Jack either, but I just sent the Frogs a message here on Kickstarter, so hopefully it will be resolved shortly.

(Just click on "View Pledge" above and type a message in the window that pops up.)

I love the look of the hooded raven. Hope there are rules for them to be familiars or advanced familiars.

Thanks for the nod Greg. I meant what I said in your update quote. This adventure is gripping. I was totally captivated with trying to figure out the mystery and motivations.

Ace that exam. No worries about this project. It will rock.

Thank you for the update, Greg, it's much appreciated.

I have to echo Patrick P. here, you have nothing to apologize for. Life is life, and this is a major thing for you and the life you envision for yourself.

You've given us an update and given a detailed explanation. That's more than enough for me.

All the best with the exam.
And those illustrations : yikes! Is there nice stuff we can encounter in the Blight as well?

      Good luck on the exam!

Knock that Board Exam out! 12 days is not really a setback, and it is a big step forward for you.

Thanks for the update, Greg! Good luck on the exam. You shouldn't have to apologize for needing to focus on your livelihood. I know we'll get The Blight when we get it. In the meantime, I have players to terrorize with Bloody Jack.
